i am once again going feral over fujimoto's visual storytelling?? THE SLEEVES????? HELLO??????
the weapon arms have always been symbolic of asa's loss of autonomy!! they were the byproduct of losing control over her own body, right at the middle of an arc in which asa has continuously been denied a place in the narrative!!
the long sleeves in csm195, covering up the weapon arms, as asa threatens self-inflicted violence in an attempt to stop yoru's plan being put in motion?? it's so?? they are the physical proof of yoru's possession!! hiding the gauntlets behind long sleeves is as though she's denying their presence. it's asa's attempt at rejecting the war devil's tendency to cause suffering, at gaining back some of her humanity.
but in csm200, sleeves only go up to her elbows. they reveal the weapons as she aims the gun to the sky, but none of her human skin!!! in her attempt to prevent emotional turmoil, she's become the cause of it, careless and hedonistic!! she's blindly accepted her situation and decided to lean into traits more suited to a devil, because it's easier. because one of the last people she has left said she'd feel better. because giving in and following the flow hurts less than fighting back against something stronger that caused part of her turmoil in the first place.
