" My parents are great! ” Emma exclaimed, grinning, “my mum has always encouraged me to the best person of myself and I just really love her. She’s like my best friend but ten times better than that. She showed me how to cook and how to be myself. I couldn’t imagine my life without my mother.”
“Dad’s my hero.” She decided, “he’s the one who put bandaids on my scraped knees and he taught me how to have fun outside of my books. Dad taught me about dating at a young age and scared away whatever boyfriend I ever brought him. I might’ve hated him at the time but I’m so grateful now. When he doesn’t scare away someone I bring home, I’ll know they’re the one.”
"My crush is ... complicated,” she hid her blush in the shadows, “I didn’t think I’d ever fall for someone like them. Like her. I’m not even sure if it is a crush. I get the butterflies and the churning stomach but it’s all complicated. She’s amazing and beautiful and she smells like roses but it’s not like I’ve thought about kissing her or anything.” Emma threw her head in her hands, “I’m just confused.”
"When I was sixteen, we all took a trip to Sydney, Australia. The weather was absolutely beautiful: there were coffee shop by the beaches, no need for jumpers or scarves. It was just beautiful. I think I spent almost all of that holiday on the beach. I came home with a tan and I think I almost cried saying goodbye to the sun.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I love England and the winter weather but sunny days where I can wear shorts, a camisole and a nice hat are just the best. I would almost give anything to have all of my days like that.”
