Did my first Homestuck meet ups at Connecticon this weekend....

Hey quick dumn question but what is ur icon

oh man I guess it’s been such a long time since this happened I should tell the story

SO in august 2013

back when homestuck meetup culture was in full swing and the CTstuck Facebook group was the fun goofy world where everyone fled the Bostonstuck drama™ and every upd8 was a race to see who could start the discussion thread first

we would all met up at Hubbard Park and the Crystal Mall and Nomad’s Arcade and there were themes or whatever to the meetups but mostly it was an excuse to get up in cosplay and bring pizza and Faygo and play CAH and sing I’m A Member of the Midnight Crew and host goofy photoshoots with your pals

and every year at ConnectiCon there were massive photoshoots run by a group of sprite cosplayers who were frankly superhuman in their crowd control abilities alone

I hosted a meetup at the beach which was a great opportunity also for everyone to break out BEACHSTUCK COSPLAYS (I was terezi because my bias has not changed, I still have the red bikini top)

and a bunch of people from CTstuck and RIstuck drove down to Misquamicut and we splashed around and took cosplay photos in the sand and walked across the parking lot of the Windjammer to get ice cream and then of course you gotta go to the sandy arcade right? and play DDR and the like, trade in some tickets for laffy taffy, and-

oh.

there was a claw machine.

in the claw machine was a superman plush and ok here’s the thing, you know those goofy ass yaoi face crops? like the senpai equivalent of ah*gao? these guys

they were the funniest thing in the world to a bunch of sixteen-year-olds who existed on tumblr and so WHEN WE SAW THIS PLUSH-

that’s me taking the picture, in the YOLO sunglasses.

i think it took us about eight seconds flat to name him super-senpai. i’ve never seen a group of humans work with such cohesion before or since.

did we get super-senpai out of the claw machine? plead the fifth. did we spend every single quarter we had between the ~15 of us trying? Oh yes.

ANYWAY at dinner that night we all got this REALLY GOOD IDEA for all of us to change our tumblr icons to super-senpai at once. (this was also four months after the first mishapocalypse which in retrospect might’ve had something to do with it)

and of course that lasted like a month max for most of us but it was a really grand time on my dash. end of story right? a fond memory of a simpler time? having fun in the grandest swing of the homestuck fandom?

here’s the thing.

I, Six Dicaeopolis, never got over super-senpai.
