The Cubans fight a lonely fight. One friend tried to gaslight me. My other non-Cuban friends have seen my daily posts, but have not reached out. They are all people who are typically very loud on social media for every and any political/racial/social issue. The Cubans fight a lonely fight.

People seem to forget or not even know how much of a stranglehold the embargo has on the day to day life of Cuban people and their government.

It's so overwhelming in fact that it's actually difficult to pinpoint what's the fault of the embargo and what's the fault of the government.

So if America actually wants to help Cuba then they need to end the embargo.

And to all the reactionaries reading this, if the embargo really isn't causing any issues whatsoever for the people if Cuba and it's the government's fault then what's the point in keeping it?

If you want to prove that the embargo isn't at fault for the current sociopolitical climate in Cuba right now then you just need to remove the embargo and let us see if you're right.

There's no other way to prove your theory.

End the embargo.

I found this on twitter and felt like everyone should read it, so I decided to translate it for you guys:

The blockade/embargo is not to blame for the fact that they send you American dollars and when you go to Western Union they give you sanitary pesos or CUC which is the same garbage, the dictatorship is;

The blockade/embargo is not to blame for the fact that the dictatorship builds hotels while the roofs of Cuban houses fall on their heads, the dictatorship is;

The blockade/embargo is not to blame for the disgusting state Cuban hospitals are in, the dictatorship is;

The blockade/embargo is not to blame for the fact that there is no water in the houses for not being able to maintain the aqueduct system, the dictatorship is;

The blockade/embargo does not forbid fishermen in Cuba from fishing, the dictatorship does;

The blockade/embargo does not confiscate the farmers what they harvest, the dictatorship does;

The blockade/embargo does not prohibit Cubans on the island from doing business freely, the dictatorship does;

The blockade/embargo did not destroy every Sugar Mill, Textile Factory, Shoe Store, Canning Factory, the dictatorship did;

The blockade/embargo is not to blame for the fact that they pay you with sanitary pesos then charge you in stores with American dollars, the dictatorship is;

The blockade/embargo is not to blame for the beatings and imprisonment of Cubans for thinking differently, the dictatorship is;

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE US GOV SHOULDN’T BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT THEY’VE DONE, NOR DOES IT MEAN I OR ANYONE THINKS THE EMBARGO SHOULD CONTINUE, BECAUSE IT DOESN’T AND IT SHOULDN’T, BUT THE CUBAN GOV IS ALSO TO BLAME FOR WHAT’S GOING ON AND IT NEEDS TO GO, PERIOD. BUT THAT’S NOT AN INVITATION FOR THE US GOV TO INTERVENE, JUST GET RID OF THE EMBARGO AND STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE CONTINENT

Just because it’s not trending on here doesn’t mean it isn’t happening!

And to all the white people out there who are trying to tell Cubans and Cuban-Americans what is happening in Cuba, kindly shut the fuck up. Stop spreading false information and bullshit. Listen to the people who are Cuban as they actually had to flee Cuba instead of trying create your own narrative about an issue that does not concern you or your family.
