went out to a local secondhand store with kellan to get cosplay pieces for our trek con, and we both found perfect clothes for k/s in the city on the edge of forever >:D

now i just need to figure out how to make a horta cosplay.....

25: a kiss that's an accident

The un-wedding of Charles Emerson Winchester III and Donna Marie Parker is, by all accounts, less raucous than the original wedding. That is to say that nobody blacks out, though that isn't the best metric by which to measure intoxication at this particular MASH. The 4077th could only drink more if they had liquor intravenously. A better metric would be that there aren't any further weddings performed, unlawful or not—though they have a priest on retainer this time. After all, there's still a strain of hemorrhagic running a marathon through camp.

But, at least they know how to treat it now, bringing that 10-20% mortality rate down to single digits. If that isn't reason to celebrate, than Margaret isn't sure what is.

Margaret takes her job as flower girl very seriously. She tasks Kellye with folding old newspapers into a bouquet for the lucky lady to throw (to dictate who's getting divorced next). She asks Gwen if Donna can borrow that nice blouse she has for the ceremony, seeing as how she didn't pack anything party-ready. When the time comes, she even walks Donna down the mess tent aisle, making liberal use of her elbows to push people out of her way.

It's a damn sight more joyful than her wedding. Sure hindsight may be putting a few storm clouds on what would have been a lovely day if not for the casualties and everything that came after, but at least nobody ended up in a full-body cast this time!

The only casualties are tomorrow's hangovers, but that's a problem for another day.

"I hope you'll come back and visit sometime," Margaret says. Rather than shouting to be heard over the music, Margaret leans over to talk directly into Donna's ear. What a wonderful woman Charles chose, even if he didn't formally tie the knot.

"Even if you don't have the excuse of a conjugal visit. I know it isn't exactly the Pink Pagoda—"

"The Pink Pagoda is a convent compared to this place," Donna laughs, and Margaret can tell that she means it. "I'm sure I can find some reason to stop by your neck of the woods. The Red Cross is always moving us around."

"Well, drop a line if you're ever in the area. I should check on the patients who weren't well enough to come to the party."

And, at the same moment that Margaret moves her head to kiss Donna's cheek adieu, Donna moves hers. They meet in the middle, lips chapped and unprepared but not entirely unwelcome.

The back of Margaret's neck burns. She apologizes as best one can in the situation, but Donna merely laughs it off with a twinkle in her eye. Nobody else spared them a thought, too lost in their own inebriation. So, Margaret carries that kiss with her to post-op like a secret on her lips.
