2019 in musicals, plays and dance. I did not see as many productions this year, but I saw two of these multiple times. It's been a wonderful theatre year that gave me some of my all time favourite productions and performances.
* Malmö Operas production of Matilda the Musical. This production was everything I wanted it to be and more. The way they planned everything and trained the kids, the talent and passion of everyone involved, the content they posted, the tight relationship the cast had and still has, the final product... Following along this journey for about a year has been really special. I'm so grateful to everyone involved for making this production perfect and I will always remember and cherish the Swedish Matilda experience.
* Finally getting to see Christopher Wollter go on for the lead role in Så som i himmelen. I'm a huge fan of him and after seeing the musical the first time, I really wanted to see him play the part. So when I discovered that he had a scheduled date, I knew I had to make it work. I absolutely do not regret it, he was perfect for that part. I still can't get over his performance of Daniel. I think about it a lot...
* The wonderful play Nakna som foster och gudar about Margot Hanel and her life partner, the Swedish poet Karin Boye. (Based on their real story) That play was so beautiful, sad and real and really touched me. Four very talented actresses, great intimate direction and a stunning set design. Seeing it from Margots perspective and getting to know more about her was really interesting and it worked so well.
