I honestly don’t even care about the idea of cultural appropriation anymore. If white people have to butcher another culture/language in order for it meet the status quo and become a Eurocentric standard so black people and other minorities aren’t accosted for doing the same, then fine. fuck it. that’s how this world works I guess.

A quick question I'm not practicing Judaism but I am Jewish through lineage, is it appropriative for me to wear a Star of David?

Are you an atheist, non-practicing or are you practicing a different religion? For the first two I would have no problem. For the third I’d be uncomfortable with it, but I’m not 100% sure I’d call it “appropriative” since it’s a part of your heritage. Still, I wouldn’t be really at peace with it. I’d call that last one a grey area.

Having a tropical or beach theme party is alright..... calling it a "luau" or "Hawaiian" theme is not okay. It was white culture that colonized and exploited my ancestors, they forbid hula and speaking our own language. Now they throw on poorly made leis, drink Mai Tais from plastic coconuts, and eat chicken teriyaki with pineapple and call it a luau. They exoticize us and degrade us down to just providing entertainment as hula dancers or ukulele players. My culture is not your party theme!
