But it could all just be a "guy does shitty thing to girl and tries to make himself look better by calling out another guy who's done shitty thing to girl" thing

Maybe she meant to say debunked? Or maybe the fact that people have decided to pretty much move on makes them defunct? idk. But yeah, Stellae vouching for him and more importantly the way he vouched for her and acted during the Illumina situation makes me think he was trying to be good and just didn't succeed back then, and that he's been continually trying to make sure he improves about it [vibe I'm getting from where I'm at in the video + "knowing" him as a person].

There are also potentially interesting parallels in how he kicked Illumina out of HBG, and how he was kicked out of the OW space- one of the things he said about Illumina was that "As someone who knew him for 3+ years I hope that he one day fully understands the consequences of his actions."

IDK maybe I'm a fucking clown for wanting to think he's a good person, or at the very least trying to be, but I really do feel like he is explicitly trying and that does earn him a lot of points in my book. I dug into Couri's allegations in 2021 when I was a really big fan of his and I remember seeing a tweet by the victim who had emailed the talent agency he was signed to about the sexual assault allegations and to do investigate/remove him, and they replied back saying "uh actually it's all good no problem here". Also he didn't face reveal for quite some time when he started the Couriway channel and people clocked that he was antwnpls rebranding through them having the same PC specs. Also he was removed from his OWL organization after they "conducted an investigation" but both the victim and their friend said the victim had never been contacted as part of it. Very shady weird circumstances all around and I've always side-eyed Couri since but he has such an upstanding golden boy reputation that I've just never brought it up and if someone does it's just "oh he disproved the allegations she was just lying"

6- The part that matters: first claim, she was actually on top of him (he reiterates this multiple times). Second claim, he asked before he kissed her. Third claim, he didn't ask for sex, he asked to take her bra off; she allegedly said "idk yet" so then he waited "10-15 minutes" to ask again because apparently they were still just making out & when she said idk again he said it was fine & didn't ask to go any further. He says that he neither expected, or even was necessarily prepared to go further then the did.

Opinion break; re; first I'm gonna note position as ambiguous. Especially when you're making out with someone lying down, things can get sorta vague. This doesn't mean she didn't feel caged in or somehow pinned by their position. For the second, I think he probably did ask to kiss her, and she probably said something that sounded like an affirmative but was potentially hesitant about it

WRT the third; I think he probably did ask that, but A) idk if was actually a full 10-15 minutes later that he asked, B) he phrased it very well in the video, but even if that's what he was trying to say, in the moment it may have come off as pressuring & insistent, C) he says they didn't go any further but this of course depends on your definition of further. Like still being clothed but putting a hand on a butt or something can still feel like another step further to some people even if someone might view it as part of the same step.

But like, I feel like he at the very least understands that he needs to ask, and that you do need to ask in multiple steps, and that "idk" doesn't mean yes, and in a lot of these things where dudes try to explain why something wasn't non-consensual, they inevitably slip up and reveal they think it's still fine if the girl passes out & you continue (illumina) or that you thinking they seem like they're chill with it is an acceptable replacement for explicitly checking if it's ok (gnf) so

7- My Hypocrisy: I'm still only at 21 minutes and I think unless the stuff he says gets pretty victim blame-y or messed up, I'm going to chalk this up to "not doing as well as he could've" at trying to navigate the encounter. I 100000% think her experience was valid, and that even if he was trying to be considerate of consent & making sure she was ok with stuff that she still could've felt pressured or like she Had to do things because of the way society pressures women to let men do what they want to them.

I know, it's very brave of me to forgive him for something I didn't experience, in a move that completely maintains my status quo

4- Meeting up: He says she initiated the conversation about meeting up at grand finals as a bit of a gotcha; while events clearly happened differently then how she's described them I reallllly don't appreciate him saying she's straight up lying.

He then acknowledges the next part is just he-said-she-said, and very plainly that he hopes the previous parts of the video have helped us know that he's not lying which is him pretty blatantly just admitting all the previous shit was sorta just him trying to tank her credibility. Which I really don't like, but I guess is fair play.

5- Invitation: two new pieces of info, A) apparently HE explicitly asked to stay with HER which either makes him looks way more guilty or way less guilty depending on your perception, B) they had to leave, because it was Hyde Park, and there was a curfew. I didn't know that but via googling, I guess that's how Philly rolls.

Back to A, you can either view it as "he planned to take advantage of her" which is why he invited himself over, or you can view it as "he didn't plan it, because otherwise why would he admit to asking himself over".

He also complains about her emphasizing the he knew she was alone; he says something along the lines of 'yeah because if there were 2 people it would've been awkward bc I would've had to ask them too' except he's phrasing it clunkily and saying he would've also needed to get their Consent because #buzzwords.

Preemptive verdict: I'm highkey getting the vibe that he was trying to be mindful of consent, but didn't understand the ways that he was putting pressure on her to say yes & that he needed to ask wrt things like kissing and the things she was alluding to in the twitlonger that made her uncomfortable.

Once again, thank you legends for correcting me. This post is gonna be me taking notes on the response

The "power dynamic": one of the first things he addresses is the idea that there was a power dynamic between the two of them. He concludes there was none, as his position was just as a graphic designer and he didn't have any actual influence, and he only had 1.8k followers to her 500, which I only semi-agree with She says she wanted to be a CC and he says he never saw her taking any steps to try work with the league & even if she did, he had no power of things like that; I think this is a misinterpretation on his end. [He's thinking of CC as someone who works with the league, I think she probably meant just like, being a streamer generally but that's conjecture on both ends] The power dynamic doesn't come from him literally being able to have any impact on her career, it comes from the perceived legitimacy that working with an org in the gaming sphere provides- this is something Ashley Gavin talked about on the Chosen Family podcast once, where her cohost Alayna probably has more reach in terms of views & popularity, but because Ashley works in an established industry (stand-up comedy) Alayna was a little starstruck because of that.

Sexting: He clarifies the sexting was consensual which yeah he got her permission to be horny in dms and said stuff like "Obviously I don't want to force you but it helps me think of you much much more". But from what he showed, it seemed like he was doing the very classic Guy thing of like, moping over you not doing what he wants you to [here: send nudes] so you feel guilty and then do it; which I don't think they do to purposefully pressure people but it does have that effect, and it really takes a higher level of being able to set boundaries to not cave after you get that pushback. Also he says some really bitter shit about how "based on the messages I don't think she was uncomfortable" which I hate and is stupid. "Women pretending to be into something sexually that they're not" is a Known thing; hello salad scene from "when harry met sally". I was really not appreciating the sort of things he was saying here, hopefully when we get to the part of the video about pressuring he'll actually take responsibility for that.

Ghosting: he admitted that he was in the wrong for not communicating about the fact that he wasn't interested in an actual relationship & things were moving too fast for his taste, especially after the fact. Personally, I think he should've communicated better about that before they even started sexting, especially bc it sounded like she only did it bc she was under the presumption this was gonna be like, a more relationship type thing but #whatever. I appreciate it, it's a start. And now we're on minute 9, where I was when I made that last post. He then makes a point about how AcTuAlLy they had a conversation in july so Technically she's lying but this is a technical detail, and disintegrates the goodwill he had just made up with me.

Summary of Allegations: Couriway was a big name fan and graphic designer for an OWL team, and he & this lady whom we're gonna call Meredith sexted [which she participated in despite feeling uncomfortable specifically because she felt a sense of emotional intimacy with him], after which he ghosted her. Flash forward to Grand Finals 2019, they and a bunch of other people meet up in person and are hanging out outside her hotel. It's getting late (like 11pm) and Couri complains about how it was gonna be expensive and take a long time to get to his airbnb, so Meredith offers to let him stay in her hotel room.

During this, he repeatedly makes sexual advances & kissed her, despite her saying she wanted to just go to sleep, & only stopped after trying to escalate things further and her being unresponsive. The next morning, he made more sexual advances that made her uncomfortable, before she finally had the excuse of getting ready to leave, after which he pretty much ghosted her again.

Summary & analysis of the response will be how I answer some of the other anons who were kind enough to send in corrections, and discussion will be under both the currycake tag and new tag "cuntwnpls"
