First Final Five Meme
Cite the final line of five of your fics – your favorites, or the most recent ones. Tag five writers who should do this next.

This exercise has taught me a sad reality: often, stories of mine that I like best have sucky or overly sentimental endings. Also, nothing here was produced after 2014 and I doubt I’ll return to writing fic until after I retire, if then. It was kind of bittersweet going through the smattering of old fic and seeing how far away from that I’ve moved.
Also, I just realized that I misread the instructions as final five lines, but the final line would (as you can see), be really meh.
This is different.
The earth breathes. He can feel it tickling his scalp, wisping through his hair, warm and secure. The stone cradles him and the void --
the void retreats.
He sighs, his body relaxing into sleep.
His body slipped over the edge, startled violet eyes and red lekku floating above him as he disappeared from view.
“I never sleep on the job,” she stated, then whispered “We return to the water to begin the new cycle.”
Flip the switch. Break the circuit. On to the next job.
"And hunter," the Jedi turned his head to speak quietly over his shoulder, his voice barely disguising his mirth as Kyr started at the acknowledgement of his profession, "don't waste time."
With a swish of his robe he walked away through the brightly lit stalls.
Kyr watched the Jedi, his expression unreadable as he mulled over their conversation. He shook himself and slid his goggles and gloves back on before turning in the direction Misk had indicated.
Yes, he was ready to go home.
Dusk gathered at the edges of the sky, and he stood, brushing off his trousers. He shook his head and chuckled at the thought of someone seeing him like this, an old man lost in sentimental memories.
I will see you tomorrow, my love. Until then, the stars will keep you company.
Ret'urcye mhi.
The shadows see me and pause, then lovingly stroke my cheek, welcoming me as one of them, and I sigh.
The people don’t understand. They deny.
Their eyes will open.
We will claim them, too.
Tagging people is always difficult for me, especially now, when I’m not reading much of anyone’s fic. Maybe @depizan @lukeskywalkersbutt @lhunuial @darthvronton @kaosstar (as usual, with the “only if you want to” caveat)
Well, it’s been a year and a half since I wrote anything. This isn’t much of anything and it’s very rough, but I’ve been reading up a storm in the last year or so, so I finally had a few words to give. Now I will go away for another year and a half.
House Business
Sometimes, a time out is needed for everyone.
Ykassa extracts the final clasp from her elaborate construct of braids and groans as the heavy coils fall down her back. She tosses the hairpin onto the table and closes her eyes, arching her neck to ease the pain of tension suddenly released. She presses fingertips firmly at the nape of her neck, then massages upwards along her scalp. A breeze carries the smell of warmed oils and spices and sharp, crisp greens, followed by a faint hint of engine grease and chypre. The latter scent brings a wistful sigh from her lips and she relaxes while her fingers loosen braids.
Her quiet murmurs of relief are interrupted when the datapad emits a cascade of melodious but insistent beeps. Tapping the screen, she reviews the messages and sighs heavily at the prospect of another unsatisfactory -- and apparently unending -- evening of polite political maneuvers. She notes the time, then taps out a reply. A bitter smile twists at her lips as she re-ties the vest's fasteners at her neck. When her parents turned over House affairs to her, she never expected to lose so many hours to conversations about nothing, but the game is anything but direct. With resignation, Ykassa gathers her long hair together and prepares herself to face another social engagement without the buffer of her husband. (Not for the first time, nor the last, does she wish Copero were closer to Csaus, or that Nirathi wasn't so in demand at the shipyards. She feels briefly guilty about the latter thought.)
"Frazil!", she hisses as her signet ring entangles in a half-undone plait and pulls. Eyes watering at the sharp pain, she wriggles her finger free and contemplates the metal woven into a snarl of her deep, grey hair. She unexpectedly feels a sharp pang of loneliness.
"T'amma?" Ykassa feels more than hears her son's voice as it vibrates against her leg. "T'amma!" Tiny hands grip her thighs, then the fabric of her skirt, tugging insistently. "Up!"
A small frown of irritation creases her forehead before her face smooths into a gentle smile. She looks down at the small child at her side. Delightful freckles -- from her side of the family -- dance across Helon'ikyr'inrokini's round cheeks but his lips are pressed thinly together. He points at her, his face dark and serious. "Up, T'amma."
Ykassa bends to pick up Nikyri. Her lower back twinges as the extra weight she's finally showing resists the effort. She sweeps Nikyri's mop of hair off his forehead to see his bright red eyes. Nikyri smiles when he sees he has her full attention, his grin sudden and bright like a crescent moon. "T'appa," he simply states and bounces his little body into hers for a fierce hug. Ykassa chuckles and kisses the top of his head. "I miss him, too, my love."
The datapad emits another series of beeps. "Especially now," she growls.
Settling herself down on the bright window seat, Ykassa distractedly flips through new messages while Nikyri fidgets in her arms, tugging at her thick hair. A quiet sound draws Ykassa's attention to the doorway. She glances up and waves dismissal at the hovering nanny. The young lad relaxes and bobs his head nervously then disappears down the hallway.
Ykassa turns her attention back to her son, shading her eyes from the shimmering lakes reflecting the late afternoon sun. Nikyri is silhouetted, so she doesn't see at first what he's holding until he places her ring in her hand. Delighted, Ykassa wraps him up in a hug, murmuring surprise about his cleverness. She touches her son lightly on his forehead, then chest.
"Tonight is just for us, my sisuk."
Ykassa taps on the datapad again, this time wiping her evening calendar clear.
It’s 101 Days of Smiles and it’s time to talk yourself up, writers! Appreciate yourself and your writing. Enjoy it and don’t be afraid to tag your fic. This is all about self love–ahem…not that kind–so have fun with it.

Followed catpella's example. :) Also not tagging folks but please do post your own, ‘cause I’m enjoying catching up on what others have written.
1. Your favorite fic you’ve written
I have a hard time choosing, 'cause I read what I write and cringe, no matter what. However, the ones that make me happiest (probably because I enjoy the emotional currents in them) are The Hunt, Family Reunion, Homecoming, and Path Followed. Except for Homecoming (Female Agent/Vector Hyllus smut), I like stories I write about Kyr and Gerain the most. I mean, they are my OTP, after all.
2. Your least favorite fic you’ve written
Song of the Universe. Long and meandering. Female Agent/Vector Hyllus.
3. Your most popular fic
Willing Participant/Gateway. Female Trooper/Aric Jorgan smut. Not really what I want to be known for, and it's not actually popular, just the one of mine that has the most hits on AO3.
4. The fic you wish more people would read
I'd say The Hunt, but as it's unfinished, I will have to instead point towards, I don't know, Time? I really don’t have one in particular I want folks to read.
5. The fic you most enjoyed writing
I think it was Path Followed. I wouldn't mind exploring Ykassa's personality more.
6. Your funniest fic
Domestic Bliss or Pet Peeve.
7. Your hottest fic
An unpublished Blue-Grey rp/fic. However, I am somewhat fond of the Forge/Sweetsand/Haze arc (note: Sweetsand is not mine, it’s aileuromania’s). And there's always Homecoming, which I really should re-edit.
8. Your saddest fic
Ret'urcye mhi.
9. The fic you’d like to be remembered for
Hmm. Not the smut. That stuff’s embarrassing. Maybe for something more sentimental and comforting, like Home.
10. The thing(s) your fic contributed to fandom headcanon
An intimate moment, just one of many, between the loving couple.
Inspiration was a brief email exchange about voices and varying levels of husky sexiness or threatening intent. Or both.
Kyr turned around in the small galley, reaching past Ger to place the leftovers into the cooling unit. As he closed the door and straightened up, he slid an arm around Ger's waist, his palm resting flat against the man's stomach. Ger's hands stilled briefly, then he carefully set the plates on the counter. Kyr smiled when he felt Ger's body tense then just as quickly relax. He pulled the grey Chiss against himself and placed his chin on his shoulder, wrapping his other arm around Ger's chest, fingers lightly touching the skin of his neck, just above his shirt collar. Ger's abdomen rose and fell with his breath, his heart rate only slightly elevated but evident against Kyr's hands. Kyr exhaled slowly, turning his head so that his lips barely brushed Ger's ear and...did nothing. He closed his eyes, breathed deeply, and just held him. For a quiet moment, the two stood together with only the distant whirs, clanks, and beeps of machinery as the ship flew through space. Finally, Ger shifted, leaning back against Kyr and brought a hand down to rest on the hunter's thigh, fingers lightly teasing taut muscles beneath the thin fabric.
Kyr opened his eyes and let out a stifled groan, moving suggestively against Ger.
"I'll meet you in our quarters in 20," he growled, nipping gently at Ger's ear.
"Is that a threat?" A soft retort.
Kyr traced kisses down Ger's neck, placing a final kiss on his shoulder.
