"is there a world where you aren't suspicious of my every move?" he asked, feigning offense. admittedly, he may have gone marginally overboard in the recent past for holidays, but restraint was not his strong suit. considering she still stood in front of him, she must not really object to his methods. a point in his column. "i bought you nothing alive, nothing taxidermied, and nothing explosively illegal," he said, pushing her forward another step. "and before you ask, no, i did not lease us a private island. we're not doing that one again."
