Ellie was familiar with the killing and the fighting; they killed and fought every day, after all, to keep themselves alive but never had she seen him kill like this. The crazed look in his eyes, deadly and scaring the shit out of the young girl as she stood and watched Lee as he continued to beat into the other man even after he was already dead. It was a look she hadn’t seen in a while but instantly brought back memories of a traumatic winter when she crossed path with insanity itself and lost Joel.
Ellie couldn’t take her eyes off the dead body, if one could even call it that. It was appaling and even her strong gut had a hard time to keep in whatever little food she had consumed during the day. Lee turned around and her gaze shot from the corpse to his face, and Ellie stood in the corner as her panicked eyes darted back and away to quickly find some solution or escape route when he approached her. But she could only press herself against the wall as if the plaster could offer her protection.
She drew her gun. “Please..” she begged.
“E-Ellie,” He started now, his single hand extending shakily, as he knelt down in front of her. “E-Ellie, listen to me...”
It wasn’t often Lee found himself losing it; not for a long time, at least. Ever since he’d taken the young girl before him in, and promised to help her and take care of her, he’d found himself becoming less angry, violent, and downright horrid; and becoming more calm, patient, and just an all round better person.
So when he’d found that man cornering the girl? Cornering his kid? You bet your ass he wouldn’t stay calm.
The guy had been dead within a minute.
“E-Ellie, it’s okay... I’m here...”
