O crime e a tragédia da indústria pesqueira.
In a serious struggle there is no worse cruelty than to be magnanimous at an inopportune time.
What's your favorite color?
Blue?
Green?
Yellow?
What if people treated you badly because of your favorite color? What if your friends told you not to wear it, and strangers felt the need to tell you to wear a different color? What if people didn't believe you when you told them? Called you a liar?
My favorite color is black.
These things happen to me all the time.
Me, my mom and my sister go shopping. Mom gets orange things, she loves orange. Sister gets blue things, she adores blue. I get black things, I feel great wearing black.
Cashier points out I should add more color or people will get the wrong idea about me.
I'm not a bad person.
Why do so many people treat me like one?
Randomness #227
I recently saw this post with a bunch of images of people rescuing animals. It was cute and some of the comments said stuff like, "my hope in humanity is back". This reminded me of a conversation I had with my roommate a while back. We were basically talking about how for example: if a person went and killed the population of entire town, it would not be as bad as if that same person went and killed a bunch of puppies. Tell me that isn't true. It's like that part in The Social Network with the chicken. It's better to be accused of necrophilia than animal cruelty. They both suck for sure, but anything that harms animals carries both a different and heavier degree of judgement and disgust from the public. Why is that? Is it because animals are helpless and we feel a deep desire to help those lesser than us? Well if that was fucking true then why don't we do the same for other humans in need. It just seems odd that its animals who reveal our humanity whereas other humans rarely do that.
Irony can certainly be cruel.
Hat(r)ed
Hatred.
They tell me not to hate, They tell me not to hide, They tell me to be honest, And they tell me to be kind. We are born to learn our lessons, We are living to follow them through, We don't spend our lives living though, We live to die, this much is true. I've given up on loving, Those that not deserve, I've given up on holding in, Those emotions and my nerve. If you're cruel then I'll retaliate, If you're disrespectful, I'll defend, If you're dumb enough to challenge me, Then I'll bring our struggles to an end. You've seen how much I've changed, How much my tolerance has declined, You'll keep on witnessing these different acts, As long as those putrid few continue to undermine. I have the hatred. I am hated. The two are different yet the same. So when I act the way I do, I ask, who do you blame?
I talk a little bit about wanting to try being a vegitarian again and why.
Every society since the beginning of time--including prison populations--have a strong code of morality--emphasizing proper behavior. This morality has not prevented any society from cruelty by its members towards strangers and fellow citizens alike. p 265
