Pentagram - Close the Casket
As it turns out, Last Rites was not the last of Pentagram. Curious Volume showcases much of the same sound, only something drastic has changed. For the first time in a long time, Pentagram has released an album of original songs! Only one song (Earth Flight) is an old Pentagram song.
So what of the new songs? Are they good? Absolutely. The lyrics are especially refreshing as they show Bobby’s current thoughts. It gives you insight into this crazy old man’s journey through life. The music industry, the drug abuse, the feeling of having wasted your damn life. It’s chilling.
Like Last Rites, the sound is very much an in between of doom metal and 70s hard rock. It works as good as ever. It may not be the best Pentagram album of all time, but there are enough standout tracks for this to be very easy for me to recommend. Pentagram never dies!
