I think Arthur Plummly would be a good romantic partner if hogwarts legacy had romance, and I don't care what anyone says about it, and I kind of wish there was more things about him, and he is a regular side character in peoples eyes but he is my favorite out of the other side characters in the game

The phenomenon of "aging up" characters is something, in my experience, unique to this fandom.

I don't remember this being a common practice during all my years in HP fandom and I've read lots of Hogwarts-era fics.

Sure, some people would write 8th year fics, and they are super popular, but if you're going to set a fic or piece of art during the canon timeline, and then arbitrarily declare the characters "aged up" - that's just plain silly.

First of all, it's unnecessary virtue-signalling that implies there's something to be avoided by depicting characters under a certain age in sexual situations. That's not a profiction stance.

These guys are 15. It's not like they're five.

You're welcome to write things outside canon, such as Sebastian becoming an auror after school or whatever. That's fine - it's not "aging" him "up," it just legitimately takes place at a time where Sebastian would be older. That's not the kind of thing I'm talking about here.

I'm talking about fanart and fanfic, or even modded images, concerning 5th or 6th year students. There's no reason to tie yourself in knots to make your fic morally acceptable to antiship and antifiction types.

Particularly with the students, if they look the same, act the same, and it's during the canon timeline of the game... They are 15 or 16 at most. And that's OK!

Just own it, please. Seeing that "all characters are aged up!" or "he's 18 here I swear reeeeeeee!" is just sooo cringe. For a lot of people I'm sure it's just something they are adopting because they feel it makes their works more socially-acceptable. To whom, I'm not sure.

Also, for those who are afraid of social scrutiny, please know I've also seen lots of very popular writers and artists on Tumblr not indicating that characters are aged up and they haven't gotten any blowback. So maybe you shouldn't feel the need to either.

They're not 15/16 in my head but I don't feel the need to slap the label on

Confession: I love Hogwarts Legacy, but I kind of dislike how the castle looks in the game. I wish the interior looked more like it does in the movies. I know that it's canon that the castle changes over time, but after playing OOTP as a kid on the PS2, I miss things like the classic staircase tower, and certain rooms, like classrooms, being in specific places.

This is not hate targeted towards anyone but moreso my own personal feelings. I am beginning to loathe the fact that I have written my fic and posted it to AO3. I really want to finish this fic and this series so I could make my friends happy and give them an ending. Making them happy is why I try my best to do good research and put my best effort to entertain them.

But between life always cockblocking me and my own diminishing feelings toward the source material and my growing resentment for the fandom, I am starting to regret having put my story out there. My friends have all left the fandom, leaving me the only one still working on this garbage nobody else outside the circle of friends I have even gave a shit about. But now I haven't even updated in months despite wanting to.

I'm just stuck in a place where I want to finish what I started but devoid of passion or love for it like I once did last year. I hate feeling hatred for a story I really loved but at the same time I don't know what to do.

I don't even want fame or accolades because I know for a fact that the fandom on here wouldn't even like it. I just want my friends back...

these confessions can make a difference. I made a confession a while back about a writer not knowing that hogwarts was in Scotland lmao not sorry but how the fuck do you miss that? Well they changed it lol I mean, what else could someone do. I just got a good laugh out of it.

I must admit, I do feel jealous of those that do big events for their birthdays/their OCs birthdays. It only works if you're popular and have tons of fans and followers. Small people like me with barely any followers would get no replies if we ever decided to do them. That is why I never try to do that and just decide to do something for myself.
