Y2K aesthetic becoming popular again in music and fashion is like when British culture in the 80s became obsessed with emulating the Victorians. It's cringe, but it's also the yearning of people so depleted that they dream only of a world where their alienation is gilded with yesterday's glitz.

i started new meds a couple days ago and worked on these series of drawings called ‘product placement’ to get through the rocky patch. very inspired by the 2001 film ‘josie and the pussycats’ and full of cursed nostalgia :)

Call me old-fashioned, but I miss when you could just stretch out your arms anywhere and hover. Nowadays it's all "the scent of salt and hot metal is bothering the kids" and "the whispers of forgotten civilizations are messing with my phone signal." 🙄
