Whispers in the Dark Short Horror Stories
Late at night, Emma was alone in her apartment, scrolling through her phone when the lights flickered. She dismissed it as a power surge until she heard faint whispers. They came from the corner of the room where a dark shadow loomed.
Curiosity turned to dread when she noticed the shadow didn't belong to anything. It seemed alive, moving closer with every flicker of light. Emma froze as the whispering grew louder, forming chilling words: "You shouldn't have come back."
Panicked, she stumbled to the door, but it wouldn’t budge. Turning around, she saw the shadow engulfing the room. The whispers became screams. In her final moment, her reflection on the darkened TV screen smirked at her.
When neighbors found the apartment the next morning, it was empty—except for a message scratched into the wall: "I'm waiting for you."
The Whispering Doll
Emma found an old porcelain doll at a flea market. Its painted blue eyes seemed to follow her as she moved. She placed it on a shelf in her bedroom, thinking it was just a harmless antique.
That night, as she lay in bed, she heard a faint whisper: "Emma... I see you..."
Her heart raced, but the room was empty. She tried to sleep, only to wake hours later to the sound of soft footsteps.
Terrified, she turned on the light. The doll was no longer on the shelf. It was sitting on her nightstand, its tiny hands now pointing at her.
The whisper came again, louder this time: "Emma... now I’m closer."
The next morning, Emma and the doll were both gone. Only her empty bed remained, with two tiny handprints on the pillow.
Day 5 of #adventurersinventory by @lordofnowhere_ "Jewelry- Cursed" This locket activates a spell of forgetfulness so extreme that when a person gifts it to another the recipient will completely forget the person who gave it to them. It only works if the locket is given, rather than sold and if at least one of the two people involved don't know the item is cursed. All the memories containing the gift giver are replaced with hazy white fog. They know a person is under the fog in their memories but have no idea who they are or what they look like. I based the look of the locket on one I had as a kid with my family's photos in it that came with my VHS tape of "The Secret Garden." That movie helped shape me as a person, I may do a comic about it one day... #Inktober #locket #curseditem #worldbuilding #Alenciacomic #sketchbook https://www.instagram.com/p/Bokm5tSniBM/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=9ro35p3x1hvk
