devlin: “it’s okay to cry in front of me, you know. you don’t have to carry this alone.”
Ambrose flinched at the words from the other. He hadn’t been paying attention. Hadn’t noticed him standing there. He was sat with his legs crossed, his head in his hands as he just tried to silence the noise in his brain. The war within himself…
Sniffling, he angrily rubbed at his eyes and shot a glare at his freshly appointed master–his brother, if he could even call him that… No matter their relation, it did not change that he was currently bound to him as his slave. That was a fate worse than any master he could possibly find himself tied to…He never had gotten along with any of his siblings, the ones he knew anyway.
“ Me? Cry? Please… “ he hissed, pushing his fingers back through his curls. Tired eyes turned away from Devlin. His next statement was laced with venom, hurt and offended easily by the statement from the other no matter how helpful he was trying to be.
“ What makes ye think I’m so helpless, little bro? I can handle m’self, y’know… “
Devlin did not want Ambrose as his slave, but if this was the way he could be reunited with his brother, then so be it. He was always known as the ‘older brother figure’ to countless demigods. Some who were still alive, some had unfortunately passed on due to tragic outcomes. He got word that he had another sibling, which he made his next quest to search out. One who was older than him, and yet he couldn’t help but feel protective towards him regardless.
“I know about your curse, but just know that it is better that you become prisoner to me than anyone else because I will not treat you as such,” he tried to reach over, trying to hold his hand as an attempt to comfort him.
“You’ve been through a lot, which is why I am not taking you to Father right away. If you don’t know yet, we are in the underworld but you are in my section, my home. You need to heal Ambrose. I know you can handle yourself but you do not need to, I am going to take care of you now,” he spoke clearly and gently, a tone that is often heard by he gentle giant that was Devlin.
“I will make it right for you. For as long as I exist you will not think of me as a master, and I know relationships cannot be forced but I will try to do all I can to fulfill my role as your brother.”
