"i see god's law not as a restriction... but a challenge!"
You can almost see the exact moment that the words make impact. Robert almost feels as if the wind has been knocked out of him — Confusion just barely making way for the concern that quickly comes along with hearing something as absolutely wild as that. He kept thinking that nothing any of the younger people and teens around town could say that could genuinely throw him off anymore. And they kept proving him wrong nearly every time that he had a conversation with them.
"I wouldn't really take it as a challenge." It feels strange to be the voice of reason in a situation but that is exactly where Robert found himself. Being a responsible adult, unfortunately. "I don't even believe in the guy but I think the restrictions are there for a reason."
"There's bad, and there's bad."
It sounds like something that Ryder would himself say before his bran caught up with his mouth. He finds himself nodding along, too, sagely, as if he understood what she meant perfectly. Great minds think alike and all that. It is that sentiment that the blonde would be telling himself later when he second guessed the whole interaction out of anxiety and cringe.
"Then there's really, really bad." The words are somewhat serious despite the soft, amused tone that he delivers them with. Ryder never quite knows the full details of the more supernatural things that went on around town. Most of the time, he felt like he only knew the bare minimum. At that. Just enough to know that something, maybe bad, was happening. "I think that we're at the really, really bad part."
