There's a certain amount of babysitting that people expect of hospitality workers that always boggles me. Particularly when it comes to rules. Where I'm working right now we ask people to take off their shoes before entry. We even provide foot covering in case you don't have socks. If people can't take off their shoes we ask that they use two layers of foot covering in case one rips.
We ask that you take off your shoes. I'm not going to stop you. This is a fundraiser for a charity. If you want to behave badly that's between you and whatever passes for a moral compass for you. And yet if people see someone else wearing shoes they act like I'm not doing my job and/or I shouldn't ask them to follow the rules.
I'm not yelling at anyone. I'm not even mad. When I ask you to do a thing because that's the way to keep things nice for everyone else I'm just doing my job. I'm not a teacher trying to keep a kindergarten fair. Also you can't tell who is and is not able to do something by looking.
If you're over 30 it might be time to start doing the right thing for its own sake even if it's not fair.
Seriously just be a good human. It's not rocket science.
