A Draft of My Future Sewing Room

Next spring, when I graduate with my bachelor’s, I will finally be moving in with my boyfriend of 5 years. One of my requirements if he wanted me to move in was to have one room for my sewing stuff; to which he happily obliged. 

The house he bought was a foreclosure and we’re currently still working on it. That means I have free reign to do a LOT of things.

I spent a good chunk of time sketching and pricing out things to figure out my budget. The picture is to scale exactly because math is fun and I didn’t spend all this time doing engineering crap for nothing.

A break down of my budget:

All Plywood Cabinets - $1,000

Cement & Framing for Countertops - $200

Iron Oxide - $30

Shelving - $100

LED Lighting - $60

Metal Peg Board - $100

White Board - $120

Ergonomic Chair - $100

Miscellaneous Organization Stuff -$290

This gives me a total of $2000

Holy crap that’s a lot of money.

Why, yes. Yes it is.

I’ve spent the past 4.5 years being extremely frugal so I could manage to make it through college debt free. Gosh dang it, I’m going to use some of the money I managed to save for something I truly want.

I’m going off my own experience for the things I want in my sewing room. If ya’ll have some recommendations for things I should be building/adding-in, please throw suggestions my way!

A big airport. Many passengers enter and leave here every day. Steve is in the middle of it, just wants to continue to his connecting flight. Steve is getting restless, because he is sure that there will be difficulties with the security check again. Because of the gender designation in his passport, F stands for female. But Steve wears a beard and has more distinctive, masculine facial features than in the photo in his passport. Steve is trans-masculine. He has been doing hormone therapy for several years. Finally, Steve stands in front of the security check. The man behind it looks at the passport photo, looks at Steve, then again at the photo in the passport: „Sir, who is this?" he asks. Steve must prove that his sexual characteristics match the gender indication in his passport. „Should I seriously show my breasts and lower my pants now?“ How else can the official determine which gender Steve has. It's humiliating when Steve leaves the closed customs area. „Thank you, we believe you. You can go through,“ they said. „We now know that you are not a real man!“ Steve heard. Welcome to the 21st. Century.
