I haven’t touched this godforsaken website in a very long time, but this platform is anonymous enough for me to say this without landing myself in hot water:
There’s a 99% chance that i’m going to get a substantial promotion in the next 1-2 months. There’s someone in my same role on the Sales side of my org that’s completely worthless, so she’s gonna get fired in literally a week from today. She’s been trained and coached and is still shit at the job a full 6 months after getting hired, so she’s out.
Once she’s out, the Sales department is going to hire someone to do entry level support stuff for the Sales staff, then poach me away from the Customer Ops (i.e. everything post-sale) org to be basically Tier 2 for sales support AND work on strategic projects.
I’m about go from “Systems Support Specialist, Customer Operations” to “Sales Operations Lead”, and that feels fucking rad
Especially because 1) Over the last two weeks, my future boss has quit referring to the whole idea as “if” and everything is now a “when” and 2) my future boss literally said “I think you’re undervalued in your current role, and I’m willing to be flexible for you if it means you’ll come over to Sales Ops.” That’s a direct quote.
I have some say in what my job responsibilities will and will not entail, the salary range I mentioned didn’t faze her at all (EVEN THE BOTTOM OF THE RANGE WOULD BE A 17% BUMP), and I get to add “Lead” to my resume.
Surprise! Some companies actually value the skills of their employees!
