they laid in bed, tangled with each other’s legs. as his arm was underneath her neck, jenn tapped on his fingers, tracing every crease and line, eventually knotting their hands together.

“this has probably been the best valentine’s day to date” she whisper, her voice cracking as she tried to be quiet.

“you haven’t liked the previous ones?” he asks while brushing his fingers through her hair.

“i have, we just never had time for each other like this”

“you’re right” he nods before kissing her temple and pushing her hair back.

the girl rolled over in his arms, her bare chest now placed on his. she folded her arms and used them as a pillow while looking at him. he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear while smiling.

“you know you get more beautiful every single day?” marks thumb pats the plump skin of her cheek, “all mine”

“you can thank my mom for that–“

“the fact that i get to see you every day i wake up and every time i fall asleep” he caresses her cheek, jenn instantly melting into his touch, “if this isn’t what the definition of a perfect life is, i’m not sure exactly what is”

she purrs, becoming soothed like his words were lulling her to sleep. she laid her head down and listened to the sound of his heart. it was like music to her ears.

“i love you” mark brushes her hair once more, his hand moving down her back to trace circles.

“i love you too” she sighs, yawning and wrapping herself even more around him, “goodnight darling”
