One thing I really like about the guy I’m romantically interested in at the moment (I’ve mentioned him before, Cute Matt) is not only has he known me since I was 7 and he was 9, we used to be same-street neighbours. Like, he’s known me forever, and we’ve already seen how goddamn stupid both of us are capable of being.

Our opening conversation involved him telling a joke with the punchline “Mummy farted and the house blew up”.

He’s cheered me on as I beat the shit out of a dude who cheated on my friend.

He’s watched me chug three quarters of a bottle of Schnapps with no mixer and then fall over while singing Five Hundred Miles.

He’s seen me completely sober deciding to slutdrop while wearing three-inch heels and promptly fall on my tush.

One time I told a group of emos that I think My Chemical Romance sucks and he did nothing to stop me because he wanted to see how it played out.

He was best friends with my ex while we were going out but when said ex cheated on me, he took my side because ‘bros before hoes but you’re my bro too’. Like, he was the first to comfort me about it. Before my own best friends.

Like, he’s seen me do so many stupid things (including his former best friend) and he still likes me. And I don’t feel self-conscious at all around him. Every person I’ve ever been romantically interested in (save one other) has made me feel super self-conscious like I’ve got to watch what I say and what I do, and so anxious I freak out about everything to do with them. He listened to one of my three-hour rants about Jurassic Park and gave me a constructive review on it. Lads, if it works out, I think this one’s a keeper.
