Some Old Anchors
Do you like anchors? Then go to the Maritime Museum – you don’t even have to go in to see this impressive collection, sited a small walk away from the north entrance. A helpful sign will swiftly educate you on the various parts of an anchor, then each antique anchor is accompanied by its own information panel, telling you of its provenance and unique features.
Somewhat bizarrely though, the stand out object of the collection, an orange and yellow monstrosity, is not actually an anchor, but a cutterhead used in suction dredging…
