Protest Song - PAY IT DOWN THE LINE

I’m in a songwriting group that uses the Cut-Up Method to write song lyrics. I posted this to my group  this week. It needs a lot of revision, but I waited until the last minute to work on the song and only had 2 days to turn my cut-up into a song.Also, I don’t usually write songs that are so overtly political, but a friend requested I write one.

Circles and Sacrifices

The slaves of that hot kiss

a shower of love and fists and desires,

needful things winding through their voices.

That it was alive was enough.

No alibis, undressing each other,

polishing the bronze bell filled with clouds.

The birds ascended; he began to fall,

drawing out of the darkness,

his palms scraped by bark--

only his gleaming bones would remain.

The good magician invents his own

thread of blue, continuing

where the trees wind down into stone.
