She just needed a change of pace.
The words in her textbook had started to blend together and even if she sat down to try and build something she ended up just staring at the pile of parts, inspiration run dry. Also, she’d be lying if she wasn’t a little curious.
There were some small rumors of a party in the dorms. Whose she wasn’t sure, couldn’t remember the name, but it sounded interesting. It’s not that she wasn’t the type to party, it just wasn’t ever very high on her priority list. In fact it was practically at the bottom; she almost solely went for the drinks. She at least enjoyed the buzz from the alcohol, sometimes it helped her think and renewed her inspiration.
So, here she was outside the dorm door of where this supposed party was. It was practically wide open, making it simple enough for her to ease her way in and within minutes she already had a drink in hand. Nothing fancy, just a regular can of beer, and she sipped at it as she milled around. There were a handful of familiar faces at least and she said some quick hellos to those she knew well enough.
There was one though, a face familiar enough for her to recognize but no name. She might have heard it in passing, and yet oddly never registered it to memory. Mostly it was because for once, Jieun hadn’t the courage to even ask. To be honest, it was probably because she was satisfied just watching from afar. He looked so carefree, and like he was genuinely enjoying himself. It made her question why she even showed up to these kinds of things when she was never really 100% invested in them, but he certainly looked like he was.
And she wanted a bit of that.
It took her a few moments to realize that she may have been staring, so she looked around, trying to find a spot where she could settle, and pretend like she wasn’t being a little off. Sadly, that only seemed to be right next to the person in question. Still, she put on her best smile (a little stiff though) as she approached him,
“Hey, do you mind?” she asked, motioning to the empty spot next to him.
