sometimes i think to myself that the killjoy name i came up with when i was 16, cyanide shadow, is too edgy or cringe or something. but then i remember that’s literally the whole point. THEY ARE ALREADY A SELF INSERT CHARACTER. why not go all the way? why not be over the top! why not be cringe!
plus the mindset of “we are cringe but we are free” fits into the killjoy universe SO perfectly

“Cyanide Shadow Nickname(s): Cyan Age: 19 Ethnicity: Asian Trademarks: Black/blue hair, motorcycle, snakebites, combat boots, motorcycle helmet Talent: Skilled marksman, good at driving off-road, mad parkour skillz Background: Grew up in Battery City as the child of high-ranking workers at BL/ind. Having grown up all his life thinking he was also going to work for BL/ind, one day, his world shattered as his parents were exterminated by the corporation because of mistakes they had made. Fleeing the city, he somehow made it to the desert, where he was quickly integrated into the Killjoy community. Was taken under their wings and quickly found out that he had a natural talent for shooting, as well as riding a motorcycle. Became a courier/smuggler. Was the one to find Orange Lightning amongst the rubble after S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W/S had exterminated her family/team. Took her under his wing, albeit begrudgingly.”

“@desertgraves asked for killjoys to draw, so here are my babies! (I’m sorry for the terrible quality ahhhh) Here are my killjoys, Orange Lightning and Cyanide Shadow (”Cyan” for short).
Cyan: Hooked nose, mixed east-asian/caucasian, golden/yellow eyes, snakebite-piercings and industrial + earrings, fringe dyed blue (fucking obviously), extremely slim. Sometimes with motor cycle helmet and band-aids.
Orange: Deep green eyes, tan skin, poofy hair with “side-fringes” dyed orange, stout build, always wearing goggles and scarf.They’re a duo transporting things (usually stolen goods from BL/ind) across the desert (Cyan drives a motorcycle, Orange sits in the sidecar), taking out the Dracs that manage to find them on the way.
Cyan is the silent, brooding type, a litle too serious for his own good, and an amazing marksman. He deflected from Battery City after his parents were taken for re-education and fled to the zones. Orange makes up for Cyan’s lack of talkativeness (is that even a word?) by being a chatterbox, known for complaining (but all in good nature). It’s amazing that Cyan puts up with it, honestly. She’s a tough cookie, grew up in the zones, and takes no shit from anyone - except Cyan, whom she is fiercely loyal to until the end.(They have a finished timeline, and one day I might draw it as a comic. Maybe.)”
