when edo got a call from jaden, he expected it to be just jaden checking up on him. since they’d gotten back from the dimension world, edo needed a shoulder to lean on, and so did jaden, even if neither of them would admit it. they relied on each other in what ways they could without saying so out loud. however, it wasn’t just that; it was something he couldn’t have ever been prepared to hear. ryo is alive.

edo forced himself to believe ryo was gone, that he wasn’t coming back like the rest of them, that he was dead. but without any explanation, he’d literally washed up on the beach. somehow, he was alive. he wasn’t out of the woods yet, but he was alive. edo repeated it over and over, a mantra to keep him going as he immediately called a helicopter to get him to duel academy’s infirmary as soon as possible. ryo is alive. ryo is alive. ryo is alive.

when he arrived, he all but burst inside, demanding to know where ryo was. they didn’t give him a hard time ( his name had some merits after all ), and after being told ryo’s room number, edo ran down the hall to get to him. he had all the time in the world to see ryo now, he had no need to rush, but he couldn’t stand another second away from ryo. he had to see him.

edo forced himself to stop and take a breath as he reached the door. it was cracked slightly; edo took that as a sign he was welcome to enter, but he knocked on the door regardless. “ ryo ...? ” he whispered, peeking his head in. he didn’t want to disturb him, especially if he was resting, but he couldn’t help himself, especially after coming all the way here. // @cyberhearted
