Crazy how there is only one singular Error AU I don’t like to insult and that’s Cyborg. I will wish pain and suffering on the rest of them but Cyborg needs to be treated with great care
pronouns as. part of the storytelling symbolism belehjrhrhrblehbalhblahblah
What is cyborg error's relationship with nightmare??
For a long time Nightmare (and by extension the Gang) also believed Error to be fully artificial, but eventually Nightmare realised he was an actual person. I haven’t fully fleshed out how, but it’s probably related to Error’s (very muted) emotions.
Nightmare finds Error incredibly interesting and wants to learn more about him, however due to Error’s constant sedation and completely fucked sense of self he can’t exactly just ask him. So he and his boys have ended up trying to get him out of his situation and teach him how to be a person - they know he wasn’t behind what has been done to him, but they don’t know the culprit is a deity.
This attempt at “reeducation” was initially started purely to sate Nightmare’s need to know absolutely everything, but ended up morphing into genuine care over time. Error’s… somewhat receptive. He mostly still doesn’t get it.
I think Fate’s biggest crime in the Cyborg!Error AU is taking away Error’s potential for whimsy. He’s just kinda sad now
If the balance is balanced would Fate care if Cyborg!Error got yoinked and studied by some peeps?
The balance is constantly fluctuating, so it’s incredibly unlikely it would be stable for long enough for Fate to not care at all. Even then they would rather Error be stored away in the Anti-VOID so he can easily go destroy if it begins to tip. Additionally, if anybody was ever close to capturing Error, Fate would take control to get him out of there.
Fate doesn’t care if people try to figure Error out though, since they aren’t intentionally hiding his identity. If he was somehow captured, they wouldn’t be concerned about his being alive being discovered. They’d be more concerned about his ability to destroy, and would again take control of him to take him back to the Anti-VOID, which in and of itself would make an interesting conflict.
Brass Goggles, by Steam Powered Giraffe. I know you are using Cabinet Man for your Cyborg!Error story, but Brass Goggles fits so very well too. Not sure if it fits with what ideas you have, but it fits with what you alrwady have posted.
I know that song!!! I agree that it fits.
Cabinet Man isn’t the only musical inspiration for the AU at all - it’s just the one that made me come up with the full concept. Before that I’d already had the idea of Error with arial antenna, which was actually inspired by the character Batty from Ferngully and his intro song.
K, I had more thoughts, I may have forgotten them rn, but. My main one is, how should I go about making an inspired fic? Should I stay loyal to all the lore you have so gracoiusly given and credit you for the og, or should I simply come up with my own heavily inspired fic and give you credit (frick you, you get credit either way, lol)?
Uh, may ask more later, but I'm not locked in to this rn
You can do either. It just depends on what your idea is and if it’s better suited to a deviation from canon or not. I don’t mind people writing for things I’ve made as long as I have credit for the AU
