HOW WAS IT THAT EASY
Aloe is a cookie who wanted to help their best friend (or more depending on you’re interpretation, maybe) by making them a new body and doing tests to ensure that the new body wouldn’t break or crumble as easily.
Yes, they were NOT in the right for making Cyborg go through test after test even though it pained them. Cyborg did not deserve to have those pains and nightmares that the new body came with, though these effects were unintentional- and there was “no other choice”.
The fella had someone incredibly close almost or literally die in front of them? That would mess with someone’s head. Someone so desperate to keep their loved one around (family, partner, or otherwise) would do many things to ensure they stick around. Hell, they even made sure to make a test run before Cyborg would receive the same treatment- thinking that it was finally safe for the memory chip upload.
They’re morally grey, and did what they thought was right (possibly? We never really heard from Aloe if they thought what they were doing was right, just that it had to be done). They don’t mean any ill will towards anyone from what has been observed through the cutscenes of AI Run- they just wanted to get Cyborg back and restore their memories so that the two of them could run together again-
(And figure out why their lab was wrecked/who wrecked it.)
Besides, before whatever happened to Cyborg, who knows what kind of relationship the two had? The only clue we have is what we assume to be Pre-Accident Cyborg on the front of Aloe’s Notes.
All we know is that after being restored, Aloe willingly made Cyborg an improved body (which hurts less and causes less nightmares), allows them to get augments with Cyborg’s Permission, and even taught them that they shouldn’t resort to violence (Based on Detective Event Dialogue*).
Yes, Aloe is not perfect, and may not even be a wholly good person, but that does NOT mean that they are entirely a villain and a wholly bad person.
Yes, Cyborg was a victim of horrible experiences, but they were not given to them with the intent to harm or manipulate. I am not here to discredit Cyborg and their experiences. Both them and Aloe have forgiven each other’s actions and improved from their low point that was AI Run, and where they stand now is positive (assumed from Detective Event Dialogue*), which I personally find to be a suitable and sweet ending for the both of them.
*I cannot find photo evidence of this dialogue or remember precisely what it stated, so if there is anyone out there with a screenshot of such that I can add (with credit), that would be very helpful!! Thank you!!
