3. Nina
Nina went balls to the wall on this and it worked out in her favor. She’s fully committed to everything she’s doing and I love the vicious, almost manic expression she’s giving. Her fierce face contrasts nicely with the soft way she’s framing her face with her hands. The body position is good and she definitely lucked out with how the fabric is blowing in the wind. Nina produced another great photo and further confirmed how ridiculous her elimination was.
#2 – Chlea
I don’t know what happened to Chlea since she came to Bali, but she became a model. I wouldn’t even be able to guess this was her, she looks like a plus-size goddess. The fabric is hugging her bodies in all the right places, and this angle for her face is magnificent. Her jawline is stronger than it has ever been, and her face looks beautiful. It is dramatic, fashionable and really a piece of art. It is this type of shot that makes me so glad they did the social media scoring for this cycle, as otherwise Chlea would have been remembered as probably the worst plus-size model on ANTM.
1. Kanani
Where the fuck has this girl been? Part of me thinks this is a fluke, but nevertheless Kanani delivered a fabulous photo. I adore the sweeping motion of her arms and how she’s partially hiding her face behind the sleeve without becoming lost in the fabric. Even with only one eye visible her face is so stunning and powerful. The curve of her pose is perfect, and I also like how she angled her torso slightly to avoid looking stiff. This is such a dramatic interpretation of the brief that works beautifully. I’m so glad Kanani finally gave a standout picture!
2. Chlea
If this version of Chlea had been present from the start she could’ve made it very deep into the competition for sure. She’s pushing herself so much! Her body looks sensational in the fabric and she’s owning the heck out of her curves. Her jawline is impeccable from this angle and the fierceness of her expression is spot on. Chlea has given us some decent shots here and there, but this is beyond anything she’s ever done in the competition.
4. Jourdan
Jourdan was the best out of the remaining contestants for me, and she could’ve been in contention for FCO out of everybody if she hadn’t done that contrived claw hand. Besides that flaw the pose is fantastic. I love how the curves of her lower half contrast with the angles of her arms. Her face is very strong as well and I like the mysterious quality of her expression. I’m not sure if the angle is the very best for her features, but it’s not bad at all. It’s another strong picture for Jourdan and she clearly deserved a spot in the finale based on this and her overall body of work.
5. Cory
I wish Cory had brought some more ferocity, but this isn’t a bad shot at all. The pose seems so effortless and relaxed despite being inverted. I’m a little surprised that he didn’t do something more extreme, but this understated approach works. His face caught the light perfectly and the angle works well for his features. It’s one of the better photos in the bunch and I was so happy to see Cory advance to the finale based on his performance this week.
6. Phil
This is honestly the only photo I truly like from Phil. His face is so fierce, intimidating, and controlled, and he’s pushing through that make-up. The pose is simple, but it works. He’s actually selling the garment and fully getting the bat vibe across as well. I’m still not blown away by Phil, but this shot was such a huge step up for him.
7. Jiana
Jiana created a great body shape and I love the wing-like angles of her arms. She could’ve done more with her lower body, such as turning her hips a bit to the side, but all in all it’s a good pose. Her face is gorgeous, but the whole “fierce bat” thing seems very surface-level. The growl is not 100% committed and her eyes seem just tad bit confused. This is still a step up from Jiana’s mediocre performances since the comeback was over.
