1. Danielle

My call-out average: 2.81

Danielle was my number one favorite girl of Cycle 6 (which is saying a lot because I loved so many contestants this season) and I was so thrilled that she won. She had my favorite face of the cycle and she definitely looked like a model in person. She delivered so many amazing photos week after week and did it so effortlessly. While I stand by my statement of Joanie having the best portfolio of the cycle, Danielle was only inches behind. Joanie was more versatile, but Danielle had such a strong, signature look that translated well to a majority of the briefs she was given. She was also able to change things up and apply her look to both high fashion and commercial concepts as needed. The judges had a constant issue with her accent/diction, but I never thought it was as big of an issue as they made it out to be. Danielle had one of the best walks and was a clear natural on the runway. Her strong CoverGirl Photo and commanding performance in the final runway show sealed her win, deservedly so.

I was immediately rooting for Danielle from the beginning. She was easily one of the most determined contestants I’ve ever seen on the show. She suffered a sprained toe after the ridiculous runway test and persevered. I was amazed by her drive when she was hospitalized for food poisoning and dehydration and still managed to make it to the photoshoot and deliver a stellar photo on top of an elephant. I also admired how she wanted to stay true to herself when it came to closing her tooth gap (which I loved). Danielle had such an amazing personality too. She was so hilarious, got along with everyone and never got involved in the drama, making her the most likable contestant of the cycle for me. Danielle will always be one of, if not my complete favorite winner of ANTM.

13. Kathy Hoxit

It seems like Wendy is considered by most of the fandom as the weaker model from the cycle 6 cast, at least from what I saw, but I have to say that I firmly agreed with Kathy being eliminated in first place.

Just as every first eliminee, I cannot remember enough of Kathy’s walk, or take into consideration her commercial abilities. All I had to consider were her look, and tiny portfolio. And in both those area I was less than impressed. In person, I’m not sure I would say she looked like a model. She definitely was pretty, but nothing about her presence really got me excited. And unfortunately for her, her photos wasn’t backing up her plain blonde girl look.  Her promo shots were quite uninspiring and awkward, but the defining moment of her performance as a whole was her bald beauty shot, and not in a good way. I don’t feel the need of explaining myself more about this picture, as it was my very least favourite shot of that cycle. The worst part of it was that her film was clearly shown on screen, and it probably was her best photo. It seemed like Kathy had absolutely no idea about what she was doing on set, and every single one of her poses screamed awkwardness to me. From what I recall, it has a lot to do with the use of eyes ; the look she gave to camera would either be sleepy or straight up scary. In the end, the shot they chose to show up at panel was just limiting the damages of her performance.

At least, Kathy was a very likable girl with a certain sense of humour, as evident by the multiple times she said she looked like a penis with ears on this photograph. For an early eliminee, I must say that she managed to leave quite an impression on me. She seemed like she was constantly amazed by everything, like for example when she called the model house the « temple of ANTM » or compared this experience to going to the moon. I also remembered her for screaming « chicken noodle » in the most excited way, and associating flowers and water to joy during her first shoot. So Kathy definitely made me laugh on many occasions.

After taking a quick look on her post ANTM work, I’m glad to say that Kathy managed to find her angles, as the few photos in her gallery are quite good to me. So she at least managed to show some potential and to make some progress. But her performance on the show clearly was the weakest one of the cycle 6 cast, because of poor photo abilities and plain look in person, hence why it was very clear for me that she would be the model at the very bottom of my ranking.

2. Joanie

My call-out average: 2.81

Panel call-out average: 3.18

This is one of the closest/strongest final two’s ever, but I have to agree with the judges on Joanie as runner-up. While Joanie’s call-out average from me is the same as Dani’s, I think that Joanie had the strongest portfolio overall. This girl just couldn’t take a bad photo to save her life; her only moments of weakness were her improv commercial and her fairytale shot (which was still decent). She was arguably the most versatile photo model of the cycle. Joanie could be commercial or high fashion, soft or intense, simplistic or over-the-top. While she started off pretty well, Joanie really hit her stride around the krumping shoot. The 5 FCOs from the panel may have been a little excessive, but the only one I was against was the pacific swimwear one (Dani and Joanie were essentially equally deserving of FCO for Final 3). Joanie had one of the stronger walks of the cycle, behind only her fellow top 3 members. Her performance in the final runway show was a bit pedestrian at times, but it was still solid. Joanie’s major weakness was her in person appearance. She didn’t really stand out from the crowd and she didn’t register as a model to me in person at all. These issues are all that prevent me from giving her the top spot, but she was so deserving of her place as runner-up.

Joanie had one of my favorite personalities of the cycle. I loved her backstory of being a rebellious preacher’s daughter. She had a great sense of humor in her confessionals as well as with the other girls. The stress got to her towards the end and she got dragged into some minor drama with Jade and Sara, but she still remained one of the most likable contestants. Her reaction to Danielle’s win was so sweet, and I’m so glad she made it all the way to the end of the competition!

3. Jade

My call-out average: 4.54

Panel call-out average: 4.63

The Ace of Spades! I thought that Jade clearly earned her spot in the final 3. When Jade walked into the audition I was immediately taken by her natural beauty, insane body, and amazing bone structure. Therefore I was absolutely appalled when Tyra gave her short ramen noodle hair for her makeover. However, Jade didn’t let this stop her and she delivered quite a few stellar photos during her run. Her style of modeling was a bit over-the-top, but it worked out most of the time. She had some early problems with looking harsh in photos, but she perfected how to soften her features in front of the camera by the end. Jade was the best runway walker of the cycle in my eyes as well. Her 5 bottom 2 appearances sours people’s impression of her body of work, but her attitude was the main reason why she was on the chopping block so much. Not including her infamous commercial, based on photos alone I only had her in the bottom twice, and one of those was Top 3 week, where a majority would be on the chopping block anyway. Still, as great as I think her body of work was, Jade wasn’t as strong or consistent as the final 2. 

Jade had the tendency to come off as an abrasive/arrogant narcissist, plus she tried to intimidate other contestants like Gina, but I think it was just her trying to cover up her own insecurities. I do admit that she needed to learn how to take critiques a little better, since she always seemed to cut off the judges or give excuses. Jade was easily the most entertaining contestant of the cycle and possibly in the show’s history. Her one-liners, made up words, and iconic confessionals, rants, and final exit are the stuff of ANTM legend. Love her or hate her, Jade is without a doubt one of the most memorable contestants to ever appear on the show.

4. Furonda

My call-out average: 4.78

Panel call-out average: 4.67

After the auditions I was fully expecting Furonda to be cut within the first few weeks and her first shot did nothing to change my opinion. However, once she received her makeover her modeling skills improved dramatically. She began to rapidly climb both my and Tyra’s callouts and delivered some incredible photos and a strong commercial. Her progress was super impressive, but she lost consistency in her final few weeks which led to her elimination. Furonda looked great on film, but she didn’t always have the most impressive in person appearance. She often didn’t register as a model to me and her walk wasn’t all that great; for those reasons she falls short of my Top 3. Furonda grew to be one of my favorite personalities of the cycle. She was so overly cocky in the beginning, but toned things down as the competition went on while still remaining hilarious. She had so many memorable moments: her list of rules, her broke ass tiara with fake diamonds, her Thai dance, and “giving an emotion” during the judging test before Tyra even told her what to do. She was one of the contestants that I couldn’t imagine this cycle without.

5. Leslie

My call-out average: 4.67

Panel call-out average: 5.67

I really loved Leslie and I thought that she deserved to make it overseas at the very least. I don’t know if she’s someone I would pinpoint as a model in person at first glance, but she had an interesting, modelesque face and really transformed in front of the camera. She started and ended her run with mediocre shots, but nearly everything she did in between was super strong, including delivering one of my favorite pictures of the cycle. Her elimination was bogus since she was easily in the top half of the remaining girls at the time in terms of portfolios and her shot wasn’t even the worst of the week. I can’t deny that she had one of the weakest walks though. Leslie had super minimal screen time even though she made it nearly halfway. This is probably due to her causing minimal drama and not having the most outspoken personality (similar to Sara). From what I saw she seemed like a laidback girl who got along with everyone.

6. Sara

My call-out average: 4.9

Panel call-out average: 4.6

Sara is someone I don’t have many strong feelings about, both in performance and personality. Sara clearly looked like a model; she was tall, had a great body, and had interesting facial features that photographed well. I had high expectations for her, but her photos were consistently just okay, with a couple of brilliant shots here and there. After her amazing first photograph, the fact that she had no prior modeling experience did show in several of the following photoshoots; however she improved quite a lot by the time of her elimination and I was glad to see her progression. Her mediocre walk and lack of presence didn’t help her out much either though. I think she did enough to earn a place in Thailand, but 4th place was a bit of a stretch. Sara seemed like a smart and kind person, but we didn’t get a big sense of who she was since the only backstory we really got was how she was scouted in a mall. She didn’t get a lot of screen time probably due to how there was virtually no drama that involved her. The most scandalous thing Sara did was copy Joanie’s poses during the elephant shoot, otherwise she was pretty innocuous during her time in the competition.
