Okay, accusing me of being bigoted just because I appreciated post-Earthspark TF media diverging away from IDW storylines is a reach. I dont like it when writers are trying to make IDW as THE bible of Transformers lore and worldbuilding and trying to unify continuities when continuities being inconsistent with one another wasn't an issue before. I dont like IDWs senate/politics-centered comics because they sometimes break the flow of the plot unless it has tragic yaoi due to functionalism like ShockOp. I think Megatrons repentance arc is the weakest part of MTMTE and LL since I prefer the other crew's stories way more and how they suffered under functionalism and the war which then gets shoehorned by Megatrons 'oh woe is me' attitude when all I wanted was more Cywhirlgate. And I appreciate DWJs absolute disinterest in making Skybound Megatrons backstory sympathetic and making his backstory the weakest issue in his run. I literally thought we were all gay in this site, which is why I didnt explain as to WHY I didnt like IDW.

My most controversial opinion is that CyGate is an age gap relationship, and what makes it special is that Cyclonus doesn't take advantage of his greater experience over Tailgate.

I really don't like it when people genuinely mean stuff like "Tailgate is older than Ratchet". Now don't get me wrong, joking that he's an old fart is really fucking funny, but some people say it to justify shipping CyGate as if that's gonna make it okay ? Guys it's already a healthy relationship, they have a whole development arc where Cyclonus realises he can't hover over Tailgate all the time and Tailgate realises he should stop pretending that he's more knowledgeable than he is because it's getting him hurt. They literally learn to be more than their difference in age and experience.

Yes, Tailgate is a grown adult by Cybertronian standards, yes, his holoform doesn't mean he's an actual child, but no, he's not "older" than everyone else on the ship. Tailgate simply hit the pause button. He's not profusely lying about everything to everyone for shits and giggles, he does that to compensate for being young and unexperienced. Cyclonus is the only one who cares enough to see through the lies and not judge him for it, which is why they end up paired together. Both of their bodies are old but only one of them has lived through all that time. Genuinely pisses me off when people shallowly make age-related power imbalances all about physical appearance, when the real source of power is in the mind and that's where you should be looking for disparities.

Armada Smokescreen and Armada Cyclonus are my favourite versions of those characters.

They are also not the most popular characterizations. With Smokescreen ya mostly get tfp and with Cylconus its mostly mtmte.

I wish the whole "Cyclonus de-aging Tailgate" plot point weren't a thing because, err... Where's my "coming of age in your 70s" story? 😬 I want my grandpa back. I want my naive, inexperienced grandpa back, and I want him to go on adventures for the first time in his life while sick with robot cancer and slowly dying. I want him to experience love for the first time while sick with cancer and slowly dying. I want him to die of old age at some point because, girl, that's what usually happens, the fuck you mean you got physically de-aged? You can't just make my grandpa young both mentally and physically, what the fuck.

cygate is always going to feel at least a *little* creepy and weird to me no matter what and somehow people pulling the anime fan excuse of "oh no he's actually 1000 years old he just looks/acts like a child" aren't doing a very good job of convincing me otherwise
