Cygnus walked down the street, a frown on his face as he wandered the city. He had already struggled finding his way around the city, but now that he had somehow gotten himself stuck in the past, it wasn’t exactly helping.

Running a hand through his hair, he glanced around and shook his head. He had coins in his pocket, but he knew that the wizarding currency wasn’t exactly known for muggles. Plus he had no idea where to exchange them. “Bloody idiot ... going around experimenting with spells.” He muttered to himself, not even noticing he was about to bump into someone until it was too late.

Cygnus sat on his own in a park in Paris. He’d been to this park a lot in the last few months, returning almost every other day to the place where his spell had backfired. If that was what he could call it at least, ... It hadn’t even really been a spell to begin with, more like experimenting with magic in the hopes to make a new one. Something he’d regretted the moment he had realised the severity of his dabbling.

With a deep sigh, he pulled his wand from his pocket and made a face. “If only I knew how I’ve done this ...” He muttered, puffing his cheeks as he shifted and lay down on the bench, bringing his hands up to his face with a groan.

Cast back in time [open]

Cygnus was spending his summer holidays in Paris, he was doing research on Nicolas Flamel there, and in the meantime gathering information on spells to continue the development of his time freezing spell. The more magic he knew the better it would be for the spell he was working on. The plan was to freeze time for a minute or so, which would be perfect in time of attacks. 

However, one day he was settled down on a bench near the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, his wand in hand as he stared at the sky, hoping to come up with something. In the last few weeks he had made no progress whatsoever for his spell and it was starting to bother him.

Swishing his wand for a moment, he let out a deep sigh of frustration. “I’m never going to manage this.” He muttered to himself before looking up, a frown appearing on his face. A moment ago, there’d been a café across the street and now it showed the window of a store. 

Rising from the bench, which seemed a lot newer than it had been when he’d settled down, putting the pieces together as he glanced around Cygnus realised he was in trouble.
