eyes dropped for a moment before he tilted his head back to look at the admiral, an eyebrow raised. “and?” maverick could try to lie, pretend that it did absolutely nothing for him to have cyclone this close, in his space, a hand wrapped around his wrist. no amount of a poker face was gonna hide the way his pulse had picked up the moment that hand had pulled him to a stop.

"No one's walked in on anything." Thankfully. His desire to keep it that way had made him a stickler for locking the door if that was something they were headed for. That habit had only gotten worse since the mission, wanting to make sure the kids didn't catch them. He probably should deny the rest of it but those rumors would persist, no matter what he said.
I heard Maverick has been spending most of his nights between a certain vice admiral and bar owner.

He wasn't sure if he was unbothered because it was true or because it was hardly the worst rumor he'd overheard about himself over the years. "I can't imagine why my romantic life is the topic of rumors." Though, he supposed being in the relationship he was in would probably do that.
