what if i did cypher / killjoy pre-relationship hcs and went insane?

5 year age difference, Cypher is 30 while KJ is 25

Cypher was probably the most weary of Killjoy joining the valorant protocol, especially since they were quite similar in terms of their tech abilities

Killjoy was just happy to have someone who knew the technical stuff behind gadget making and the intricacies of it (brimstone doesnt know a lick of it and kj is just ‘meh’ trying to teach him about it)

Of course, cypher ends up being on the end of killjoys curiosity about what his own gadgets did and tags alongside him quickly

cypher doesnt talk much to her , merely answering in grunts and nods at whatever she says to get her to stop talking

‘almost like a dumb puppy’ he describes it but he never says it out loud

cypher then comes to realize shes quite smart and handy when it comes to her own work and he slowly begins to become more interested in the specs of her turrets and bots

kj is the first to realize her feelings are more than just “oh your a tech guy just like me, we should combine our stuff to make something cool”

she doesnt act on her feelings right away,, but ignoring them made it significantly harder to cover up

her only “cover up” was constantly bullying him about how his stuff was equivalent to a kindergarteners toy

cypher gives in and starts stealing her knick knacks as retaliation

stupidly enough, kj was the first to confess

cypher isnt so aware of his feelings so she just had to take the wheel eventually

the confession was in killjoys workshop respectively

they both agreed to work on their gadgets in close proximity and she nearly exploded in embarrassment

kj confesses in her native language and cypher doesnt speak it so he brushes it off

“Ich mag dich...” (im using google tl pls dont kill me)

“hm?”

“i said, Ich mag dich...”

“I dont speak german, im afraid.”

“I like you , you arsch mit ohren”

cypher doesnt register it at first

until he sees her blushing furiously and pulling down her iconic green beanie to cover her face

the feelings cypher buried away the time she joined the protocol til now begin to surface and he realizes finally

hes so fucking awkward about it and pulls down his hat as well to cover up a blush she cant even see

the two sit in silence for like 5 minutes until they finally recover

cypher is tentative but he finally does the same and killjoy just wants to throw something straight at him

hii i have no motivation to do my homework so here are some more sentrywire headcanons because i have no impulse control... with lots of inspiration from aster’s headcanons here because i LOVE these sm!!

these two are really not good at asking before taking. they’ll take each others’ spare parts and tools without mentioning it first, leaving the other to wonder if they simply misplaced a part or a tool they need for a gadget they’re working on. cypher will sheepishly say he was definitely, absolutely going to return whatever it was he borrowed ( he wasn’t ), and killjoy gets a little fussy when cypher takes her things without asking, but she lets him get away with it anyways because she loves him. cypher always knows when killjoy takes something from him, and he’ll poke at her with his usual “little engineer, i know you took something from me again”, but how could he ever be upset with her when his girlfriend is just so cute?

it took cypher a long time to get used to pda. killjoy is absolutely a pda kind of person, and if she knew it wouldn’t make cypher uncomfortable she would absolutely intertwine their fingers or sit in his lap whenever the two of them are in the same room. but she respects his boundaries and knows that he’s still working through getting over his past, and reassured him that it was alright if he didn’t want to partake in any pda right away. cypher does try to do a but of pda, though, because the smile that forms on killjoy’s lips when she feels him lace their fingers together or when he wraps an arm around her hip to pull her closer to him is priceless to cypher.

killjoy steals clothes from cypher’s closet all the time and cypher knows but lets her get away with it because he thinks she’s just so cute. he’s lost count of the times he’s walked into killjoy’s lab and seen her in one of his oversized coats, or her wearing his hat instead of her signature beanie. she lets cypher wear her beanie too, and if he is wearing it no one is allowed to touch it. he protects it with his life, swatting away anyone that might try to poke at the beanie on his head. it’s important to killjoy, so it’s important to him, too. he’s tried wearing her iconic yellow jacket, but it was less a jacket and more a crop top on cypher. killjoy thinks about how small her jacket was on cypher and bursts out laughing every time.

killjoy is very into social media. cypher... not so much. she tries to teach him about it, and cypher does his best to learn because he knows that it means a lot to killjoy. she made an account for the two of them to share so that cypher could share any photos he may have saved on his cameras that he thought looked nice. cypher will upload any photos he captures on his cameras that he thinks look good enough for social media, which is mostly just nature / landscape stuff from missions on bind or haven, and the occasional picture of killjoy that he’s deemed to be his favorite but honestly every photo he has of her is his favorite. killjoy just posts cute photos of cypher doing literally anything ( with cypher’s consent, of course ), and captions them with really cheesy stuff about how much she loves him and how handsome he looks when he’s really invested in his work. it flusters cypher to no end but she continues to do it anyways.

while they might not display a lot of pda, they definitely don’t hold back when it comes to flirting and teasing. the other agents have lost count of how many times they’ve had to listen to cypher and killjoy flirt with each other over their comms— cypher will tease killjoy about how he’s got a nice view of her from his camera, killjoy will use the cheesiest pickup lines possible on cypher and he’ll still get embarrassed no matter how cheesy they are, and it just goes on and on until someone usually one of the controllers has to beg them to focus on the mission at hand though that usually doesn’t stop them from continuing to flirt.

these two are the masters of bottling up their feelings and emotions around the other agents. they both have a lot of emotional baggage that they would prefer no one else knew about, but after they dated for at least a few months, they became more comfortable with sharing the darker parts of their pasts with one another. killjoy was the first one to be open about her trauma, and how it affected her, and it was the first time cypher really saw her cry. it was the first time he really ever felt like he wanted to hold her, keep her safe and never let her go, tell her that it would all be alright. cypher was much more solemn when he began to open up, and killjoy would sit by him and stroke his hand gently while he spoke, resting her head on his shoulder, softly whispering to him that she was there, and that he wasn’t alone.

hi so like. because i am the sole shipper of this ship here are some cypher/killjoy relationship headcanons because alas... i love these two so bad

they absolutely refer to each other with pet names both in english and in their native languages, and they’re extremely mushy about it.

some pet names cypher uses for killjoy include ya amar ( my moon ), ya hayati ( my life ), and ya helo ( my beautiful ) and they’re all really lovey-dovey because he loves seeing the other agents get grossed out with how much he showers killjoy with affection.

killjoy, on the other hand, uses more english pet names for cypher ( i.e. honey, babe, etc. ) however her favorite german pet name for cypher is knuddelbärchen ( ‘cuddle bear’ ) because it’s both nerdy and cheesy. cypher gets really embarrassed when she calls him that but he secretly really likes it

aside from the pet names, however, they usually shy away from pda most of the time. like, occasionally see them hold hands, or maybe killjoy will peck cypher on the cheek. however, if they’ve been away from each other for too long, they won’t hesitate to cuddle up together in the lounge and work on their gadgets.

killjoy likes to sit in cypher’s lap and lean back against him while she tinkers with her bots. if they want to work on things together, they probably sit and work like this.

they absolutely combine their inventions together and the other agents like omen and jett hate this because they constantly get tangled up in them. omen has probably gotten tied up in a stray trapwire that probably started ringing like an alarmbot while he was trying to teleport somewhere and it made him lose his mind but cypher and killjoy thought it was hilarious
