Starlight...star bright.

Dear Book, A very Merry Starlight to you! I know it has been quite the cycle for us, so I am pleased to tell you that it is ending. Soon you shall be resting peacefully beside the other books, just like you, to hold onto these adventures and tales for all time. But I am getting ahead of myself. Cyrus offered to take me on a date during his day off. We haven’t had time to slow down since this all began, and I was almost relieved that he was suggesting a simple night out together. All of this started with such chaos that I feel as though it were a whirlwind that scooped me up instead of his arms. But I digress. We were supposed to go to a restaurant but unfortunately it was closed. Likely due to the holiday, I imagine. Honestly, it was for the best. We instead went to the beach for a picnic on the sands and I wouldn’t want anything else. They had decorated for Starlight so there were a few trees, twinkling lights, bells, it was all so beautiful. The snow was gently tumbling from the sky but didn’t stick to us or the grounds, so it made for an almost perfect scene. We spoke for a while. He mentioned that he would like to speak with the Eldest and perhaps clear the air or seek to get permission to travel with me. I told him of my concerns and the anger to which he will be given. He understood but…it is going to be hard to sit in that conversation. That is assuming Vermund allows me to be there. It is my fault, really. I should have been smarter when we first met. I shouldn’t have let him so close without going through the proper motions and now he is going to be subjected to the anger that I helped to generate. He is so kind with me and yet I understand my family’s rage over it. We shall see what comes of that meeting. For now, dear book, just know that I spent a lovely moment on a beach with him. Surrounded by the joy of Starlight.

Fairy Tales

Dear Book,

  Cyrus came to see me today. I know what you will say, book, and I am aware of the rules. Specifically, the one where he is not allowed near me until it is approved by Father. But I couldn’t just push him away. We had to speak and work through the problems as best as we could and the linkpearl was not efficient enough. Though, perhaps, it would have been better.

   He comes on like a strong storm the moment he sees me. Every time. It is as if he seeks to consume me before I can take in the moment. So, I sat us down to put some space and converse like I had planned to do. But then he mentioned skipping out on his duties in Ul’dah just to spend time with me. Hide here and enjoy the time. That bothered me. I am sure he could see it because he changed his wording when I brought up the topic. Perhaps he had been searching for confirmation in his decision? Perhaps he had only joked? Either way, he seems to enjoy finding ways to walk the lines.

  He spoke on seeing the world with me. Broke into this grand show of how he wanted me to see every place my books provided to me. The ones that have been the window in my world for all my given life. It was romantic wording and grandiose gestures given with an air of confidence that he could fulfil this idea. And it made my eldest brother’s words come to the surface.   He is an adventure story. A romantic heart born from stone and sand to whisk away the princess trapped in her tower amongst the foliage of Gridania. And the more we spoke, the more I realized my draw to him.

  Then I told him about my plans to find a cure for me. While I expected the reaction I received, it hurt. He was happy that I wanted to change my situation for the better. So that I didn’t have to worry about how people see me and that I could enjoy life more. I enjoy life now. I always have. And perhaps he really is the fairytale Prince come to save me from my tower in both mind and body.

  And I am not sure what I am supposed to do about it.
