C-FSRJ heads for the runway for departure from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. This particular Q400 flies for Sky Regional in Air Canada Express colors (oh wait, this Canada, perhaps I should say “colours”). Air Canada Express launched services from YTZ in May 2011 in competition with Porter Airlines. During the Q400’s flight test program out of Wichita Mid-Continent Airport in Kansas, it’s performance when empty had some controllers believing it was a pure jet aircraft. Empty, a Q400 will do 6000 fpm and reach FL250 in about six minutes. Several years ago a Q400 set several FAI time to height records for a turboprop in certain weight classes: 9800 feet in just over 7 minutes in the 35-44K lbs weight class (beating by one minute the previous record set by a Saab 2000) and 19,000 feet in 8 minutes 21 seconds, beating by three minutes the previous record set by an E-2 Hawkeye. I’ve been coming up to Toronto regularly since I was a wee fart. I remember City Express’s brightly colored (oops this is Canada, so “coloured”) Dash 7 aircraft coming and going out of Toronto Island Airport as it was called back then. Nice to see some serious Dash action there again, even if it’s Q400s which aren’t as cool as Dash 7s! But do note the two ex-Arkia Dash 7s in the background! #Avgeek #aviation #aircraft #planeporn #CYTZ #YTZ #Toronto #airport #planespotting #airlines #megaplane #instaplane #Bombardier #Dash8 #Q400 #AirCanadaExpress #SkyRegional #instagramaviation #CFSRJ #splendid_transport #instaaviation #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #flight #AvGeeksAero #AvgeekSchoolofKnowledge #AvGeekNation #TeamAvGeek (at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4bUzdnh08E/?igshid=1f4xnw0kg9tqt
