(A/N:) Rewatched the Vampire Hunter D movies the other day for the article I wrote for my job and I was inspired. There will never be enough D fics! I wish they would animate more of the novels too they're so good! But I'm finally getting around to posting some Halloween fics and hopefully more to come! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
You'd been traveling with D for awhile now and no one else could see the tells of the dhampir when he was struggling. Though half human, D had the countenance of the vampires. The sun though not deadly drained him and he needed blood, though not as often. He had fed from you a few times when he was desperate and you offered. Now as you sat across from D, the dark no longer scaring you as long as he was close by, you could tell that he was on the verge of collapse. You could hear the curse in his hand belittling him and getting onto him for pushing himself too hard. D would have to rest tomorrow in the dirt but for tonight you could help him stave off the sickness. Scooting closer to him, D scooted away knowing what you were doing.
"No," he said quietly.
"You need to feed D," you argued getting closer again only for him to move away again. "Stubborn dhampir," you snarled.
Moving quickly you sat right next to him, he could have moved even before you did but he didn't. He knew you wouldn't give up and the burn in his throat was becoming too much to bear. He didn't want to hurt you and yet you trusted him more than he did himself. Parting the hair from your neck, you offered yourself.
D shook his head and reached for your arm. He was too afraid that he would lose control if he bit into your neck. You stroked his cheek while letting your hair fall back to cover your neck.
"I trust you," you whispered waiting for the quick sting of the puncture of his fangs.
"You shouldn't," he replied his nose brushing against the skin of your wrist, causing you to shiver. Without another word his teeth began to lengthen and as gently as he could punctured into the vein. You winced but held tightly to his knee, watching D's throat move up and down as he swallowed.
"D," you breathed and he moved away licking the punctures before following the trail that had dripped down your forearm to the crook of your arm. The cold air hitting the wet trail D left on your skin making you shiver more. But still D didn't let you go, his grip tightened while he continued to follow up your arm. He kissed at your shoulder, nipping at it softly before you moved your head to the side, offering yourself to him once more. His clawed fingertips brushed the hair from your neck and you melted against him.
"More," he growled.
"It's okay," you soothed cupping his cheek while D leaned in closer. His fangs scratched against your jugular before he came to his senses and moved a little further away from the larger vein that kept you alive. After deeming this new spot safer he bit down and this time you couldn't help but cry out. His mouth moving your skin causing your body to heat up. You tugged at his cape but you didn't want him to stop until he had his fill. D pushed you to your back, his legs straddling your waist, but his mouth never left your neck. Holding him tightly you knew it wouldn't be too much longer and he would release you and avoid you like the plague.
"Don't be ashamed," you whispered into his ear. "Please don't push me away after this I want to help you through whatever you go through. I care about you."
D sighed and swallowed one more time before he released you. Stopping the bleeding and still leaning over you. His forehead pressed against yours, his long hair brushing against your cheeks.
"I can't make any promises," he replied reaching out to stroke your slightly pale cheek.
"Just try," you smiled warmly. "I want to help you through anything in this life."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome," you kissed the tip of his nose. "Can I have something to eat I'm a little hungry now?"
"Yeah get off the little lady this is getting a little awkward for me," D's cursed hand snarled, face pressed into the sand but sensing D's desires.
D stood up quickly going to the saddle bags and rummaging around for something for you to eat. You watched him intently, your neck throbbing but the memory of his lips on your skin making you shiver and shift in your seat on the sand. Traveling with D was never dull and your fondness for the dhampir grew every day as the misunderstood man shown more humanity than the humans themselves. You grinned taking the offered food and kissing his soft cheek. You didn't care wherever D went you would go with him and you hoped he felt the same.
