Hello lovely readers! As a fangirl of many tastes (and ever growing list of fandoms) and with my writing blog several years old now it was time to have several masterlists made as I have wrote A LOT of stuff! I decided to have three different ones for the majority of genres I write for. Which is Top Gun, Anime (in general as I watch too many they just will have to be together), and Devil May Cry. As always bless your gorgeous face @the-marshals-wife for taking on this tasking challenge of making beautiful banners before my list of fandoms became any longer! I will keep this updated as often as I can and hopefully this will help my readers navigate my blog a lot easier for stories and characters that they are more interested in than others. So please feel free to click the links below which will take you to each individual masterlist! Thank you everyone for the support and lovely interactions! I wouldn’t keep doing this if it wasn’t for my dear readers! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess

(A/N:) My first fic in forever. This one has been in my drafts for a very long time and it was requested on A03 by a reader who read the Dante version and asked for a Vergil one. Every time I started this it never felt right and once I had finally gotten a start on it tragedy struck me and I loss my best friend. My cat Bob who had been my partner in crime for 17 years had to be put down and all sense of creativity died with him. I have slowly but surely getting back into making things as it is my lifeblood. I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't write or paint. So please bear with me and be patient as I get back into the swing of things and hopefully I haven't lost too much of my writing ability where my fics are crap now. Thank you to all you have stuck around and kept reading while I find my way back. Until next time (hopefully sooner rather than later) happy reading. ~Countess
Vergil sensed the battle long before he found it, he warned you seconds before the hoard charged and surrounded you both. You fought valiantly and Vergil used all his strength to protect you but there was too many. Whatever injuries he obtained healed instantaneously, but you were human and weren't so lucky to have a quick healing ability. Vergil beheaded the last devil before he noticed you collapsed on the ground and bleeding profusely from several wounds. A growl rumbling in his chest, he was at your side in seconds.
At Vergil's touch your eyes fluttered open despite the pain at your side and blood dribbling from the gash in your chest. You mourned the state of your favorite shirt for just a moment before the sting of Vergil moving you, made you suck in a breath. Vergil quickly muttered apologies but kept trying to scoop you up gingerly from the ground.
"What do you need," Vergil asked trying to keep the terror from his voice.
"Well I need to stop bleeding would be the first step," you replied trying not to glance at the blood trailing down your arm to drop from the tips of your fingers.
"Hospital," Vergil started jogging, jostling your battered body.
You hissed at the burning pain and gripped his arm gaining his attention.
"You're gonna have to stop running Verg. I feel like I'm about to fall apart due to the jarring."
"I have to get you to the hospital," he sighed in annoyance when he was actually trying to keep from losing his mind. You were an unexpected cog in his life. Vergil had thought for years that he had no need for anyone, that relationships were just an excuse for weakness, until you crashed the party as his brother told him.
"No hospitals. We can't explain these kinds of injuries to the nurses and doctors. Also we're both terrible liars."
"Your lying is abysmal, mine is far better than yours," he scoffed.
Your gaze bore into his sky blue one, "No hospitals."
"Fine." Vergil gritted his teeth. "You leave me no choice."
"Well that's not vague and absolutely terrifying."
"We'll have to go visit my brother.
"That's it," you flicked his forehead causing Vergil to snarl.
"What do you mean that's it," he wanted to flick you back in retaliation but you were still in his arms and still bleeding. "It's my brother the most insufferable person in this entire world.
"Verg," you sighed getting tired of the back and forth. And just tired as more of your life essence dripped to the dirty ground. "Just please."
"Fine just remember you asked for this."
You had met Dante before, but you weren't used to him because Vergil stayed away majority of the time and so the boisterousness of Vergil's twin was a shock to your system. Well more so than your body was already in shock, due to blood loss, and the trauma your body was going through.
"Where's your first aid kit," Vergil interrupted his twin abruptly as he was letting his frustrations fly that his twin brother brought an injured bleeding woman into his place of business. But knowing that Vergil was in a state of ignoring him and clearly because it was due to your state of being, Dante hurriedly shut up and pointed to the bathroom. Laying you gently on the leather couch Vergil left for a few seconds to gather supplies. Dante could only stand in front of his desk gaping at the back of his retreating brother.
"Don't you have a job," Vergil snarled emerging from the bathroom with numerous supplies in his arms.
Dante ignored the venom aimed at him, "She needs a hospital Vergil. Do you even know how to stitch someone?"
"I do in fact know how to stitch. I just haven't practiced on someone living."
"I won't be living much longer if you two keep bickering like an old married couple," you groaned starting to feel a little woozy and nauseas.
"How did you learn to do stitches," Dante continued making his brother sigh in exasperation.
"Books Dante. Now leave."
"This is my place," Dante whined.
"Oh my... just leave Dante unless you want my gorgeous corpse leaving stains on your couch for all eternity!"
"You're not going to die," Vergil roared.
With a grumble Dante headed to the door, "I'm going to go get a sundae. Anybody want anything?"
"A blood donor would be nice," you replied causing Vergil to roll his eyes.
"I'll see what I can do," Dante replied shutting the door and with that leaving you and Vergil alone. He took a few seconds to make sure his twin was actually gone before reaching for the scissors he had grabbed along with the rest of the supplies.
"I'm sorry," he whispered at the first snip that cleaved the hem in two.
You didn't know if his apology was for the destruction of your favorite shirt or that he was about to see you in a light he never had before. You never bared more skin than necessary so for Vergil to see you laid bare would be a new experience and if you weren't so lost in the pain of our wounds you would be more embarrassed. Your cheeks still flushed pink when the shredded shirt met the floor in a wet heap and next your slashed bra.
"I knew that you'd get my clothes off one way or another one of these days," you tried joking to ease the anxiety inside.
"Not the reason I was expecting to remove your clothes either," he retorted. "But here we are."
"I really loved that shirt," you sniffed while Vergil pressed gauze to your wound.
"We'll get you another one. Hold pressure while I get some warm soapy water."
"I found that at a flea market it was already so comfy," you whined but listened to instructions. Despite the burn you held tightly, trying to stop the flow worried that you would ruin Dante's couch with bloodstains.
Vergil looked for a clean bowl before finding a pot in the cabinet. Running the water (thankfully Dante paid his water bill this month) until it ran warm, Vergil took the time to put a mild soap into the pot while he waited. Now that he wasn't at your side his whole body decided to rebel. The adrenaline fading away resulting into his body starting to crash. His legs gave and he caught himself on the sink, his hands crusted over with your blood and the visceral bits of demon he had slaughtered with his blade. The tang of your blood in his nose had his stomach tumbling and he fought the urge to throw up. He scrubbed his hands viciously under the running water trying to erase the smell of your life essence staining his skin. His freak out levels rising, the phantom smell of flames and blood and screams started to overload his already stressed mind. He shook his head, refusing to break, you were what was important at the moment, not the past, he needed to be strong for your sake. The thought of losing you becoming overpowering as the water finally reached a perfect temperature. He filled the container grabbed some clean clothes and made his way back to you. Running his fingers through his hair he tamed his heart that raced inside his chest. But seeing you laying there helplessly covered in gore had him back to spiraling until you managed one wobbly smile. Vergil gritted his teeth and got to work cleaning you, ignoring the paling skin under the cloth. You shivered slightly, nudity forgotten at Vergil's tender touch. Finally the bleeding subsided thanks to both of your efforts and now the fun part of having your rent flesh knitted back together with needle and thread. You just prayed Vergil had a steady hand. Which was soon left unanswered as Vergil struggled to thread the needle due to his hands shaking uncontrollably.
Vergil gritted his teeth, but his hands shook continuously though his face betrayed nothing of the turmoil inside. Grasping onto his hands the needle and stitching thread still clasped in his fingers. Your necessary nudity didn't matter at the moment all you knew that he was close to losing it and you wanted to be his comfort even when you could use some yourself.
"Hey it's going to be okay. I'm still here you got this Verg."
"I know," his teeth gritted he urged his hands to stop trembling, but like his brother they wouldn't listen.
"Talk to me," you eased back down waiting patiently for Vergil to pull himself together. Any signs of worry or nurturing from you would set the silver haired man off.
"I can't help but think I'm going to lose you no matter what I try," he blinked back tears and finally threaded the stitching thread through the eye of the needle. "I lost my mother and could do nothing about it and I have felt helpless ever since."
You listened intently though braced yourself as Vergil pinched your skin together and poked the needle through. You gritted your teeth, sucking in air to fight against screaming. Your fingernails digging into the leather couch, you wished severely for a healing factor like Vergil's.
"Dante feels the same way. That's why he was acting the way he was," Vergil now focused on the task at hand was letting more slip through his lips than he ever intended for you to hear. But despite being in agony as he methodically stitched you together, you weren't going to be the one to stop him from confessing how he felt about you at any point.
"I noticed that he wasn't acting like the Dante we have come to know and love," you panted.
Vergil tied the third stitch, getting closer to finishing the slash on your chest. He still didn't know what he could do about your ribs. You could still breath some so they didn't seem to be broken severely, maybe only cracked. At least Vergil hoped so, he didn't want to wake up in the morning and found out you had punctured a lung with a broken rib during the night.
"Losing our mother was harder on Dante than me. I wasn't home," Vergil paused while his fingers tightened on the needle. Carefully you reached and laid your hands on top of yours. His head jolted up, but unlike everyone else that he had told or learned what he and his twin had gone through. There wasn't pity, no sorrys left your lips. Just a quiet understanding, a small touch to let him know that he wasn't alone and that you understood losing someone in such a tragic way. Vergil nodded, his gratefulness clear. Without another word he finished up cleaning what blood had trickled free while he had stitched you up.
Vergil started gathering all the used supplies to clean up his mess and go on the search for some clothes. There was no way he was going to let his brother see you in such a way he would find some way to be crass about it and then he would have to kill his twin.
You watched Vergil retreat your body aching but already feeling better, though extremely tired. The tension in his body had you worried and what he had just told you had your heart aching. Vergil kept his past secretive but the wounds there ran deep and they never healed. Yours was minor compared to everything he had been through. And to grow up knowing that the people you loved went out in such a horrific way, the hurt in your heart was hurting more than your throbbing ribs. Moments later Vergil came back holding a shirt and some boxer shorts.
"My brother won't mind until I can go and get you something to wear. It'll keep you more comfortable than what you have left too. You need rest and I also brought you some pain killers. When you wake up I'll get you something to eat."
You nodded, unable to speak due to the lump in your throat. This nurturing side of Vergil was making you emotional. You sucked in sharp breaths as stabbing pains ran through you as Vergil helped the shirt over your head and lifting one arm at a time. The boxer shorts was really fun as he held you up to keep you from collapsing. By the time you were dressed and laid back down on the couch your body wracked with shakes from the pain. Vergil took your hand, rubbing his thumb on the back of your hand before brushing the messy streaks of hair from your sweaty forehead. You protested when he pressed a lingering kiss against your brow but he didn't care that you hadn't bathed and you smelled like demon blood. You were here and you were going to get better he knew. He stayed by your side until you fell asleep. Dante returned a little later guilt etched in his face as he took your battered body in.
"She's going to be fine," Vergil replied while he gently laid your hand on the couch and covered you with a meager blanket.
Dante nodded," She's as tough as they come. Feel free to stay as long as you both need to. Help yourself to some of my clothes you need a shower, you stink."
"I already have helped myself she needed something to wear."
"She's wearing my clothes? That's hot."
Vergil growled taking a step towards Dante who threw up his hands immediately.
"Just teasing," he chuckled. "No need to go alpha on me Verg."
"I hate you," Vergil rumbled stomping up the stairs to take a shower.
"Love you too," Dante replied heading towards his kitchen to look for something to eat.
Vergil started the water running in the tub letting it heat up while he shucked his dirty clothes off. Dried blood flaking off into the floor. Now that his job was finished for now the feelings that had started in the kitchen came back full force. His knees hit the bathroom floor as shakes took over his body. He dragged in deep breaths trying to calm himself but the picture of you lying on that dirty ground, bleeding out had a hold. It had been a close call, the closest since he had met you and it had shattered something in him. Something he thought that had healed long ago but it wasn't. He had just shuttered up his feelings braced them inside so he could keep going and those braces imploded as soon as the smell of your blood had tainted the air. Clutching his chest and one hand gripping his hair Vergil got under the spray of the showerhead. He didn't care if it was cold or hot, he couldn't feel the temperature anyway. He didn't know how Dante did it. Getting close to someone despite the chance of losing them in such a horrible way. While Dante loved others easily, Vergil was the polar opposite. He didn't want anyone in, he just wanted power. To become stronger than anything that could ever think about taking whatever meant the most to him away. Until you had come around and shattered that illusion of strength. Rivulets of water streamed down the locks of hair plastered to his face, tinging the water pink as the blood washed from his hair and skin. He watched the little whirlpool at the bottom of the tub, letting himself feel these emotions and imaging them going down the drain as well. He realized that he loved you more than anything and he made himself and you a vow to keep you safe no matter the cost. You molded his world into something better and he wasn't going to let anything shatter his world ever again like it did that night that had changed everything.
Toweling his hair dry before wrapping the towel around his waist, Vergil exited the bathroom to see that Dante had left him something to wear by the couch where you were sleeping. Your face pinched in pain as you tried to breath deeply but still knocked out due to the medicine. Vergil dressed quickly and got comfortable in a chair by your side. He wouldn't leave you alone, your watchful protector in the quiet of the night. Should you ever need anything from him all you had to do was ask. Vergil took your hand once more, giving it a gentle squeeze to let you know he was there before he too fell asleep to prepare whatever lay ahead of you both.
I'm so sorry I have been so inactive here lately. The creative spark has been so willing but my emotional and mental state for the last two months has been abysmal at best. I've meant to explain sooner but that has felt like a chore too as I sit here and try not to cry while I type this. Work has sucked everything out of my life leaving me only time to read and then go to sleep only to get up and do the same thing again. But that's not the big issue. I have always made time and I'm slowly trying to get back to writing fanfics and on my book as it is something I love to do.
The main reason that I haven't been writing is in May I had to put the cat that meant everything to me down. I had him for seventeen years and he did everything with me. If I was painting he was there, writing he was there, even watching TV he was by my side. So it has left a large hole that can't be filled. So anything creative has been hard on me emotionally because he is no longer here. I have no words to express the pain I have felt losing him. I was with him in his final moments and I am so thankful for that but it still hurts so bad watching your best friend in the whole world take his last breaths. Please bear with me as I try to slowly but surely come back. I want to write so bad I think it'll help with the healing process but I can't promise the quality I normally write. But all I can do is push forward and try my hardest. Thank you for your patience and hopefully soon there will be new fics to read as I try to get back doing the things I love cause that's what my cat Bob would want me to do. I love you all so much and thank you for sticking with me during this struggle and my absence. Until next time happy reading.
I know it's not really related to writing but it kind of is. These changes are not good for creatives and I know a lot of my fellow creators are not happy about these changes so it's imperative we make our voices known. If we don't stand for something we can fall for anything!
(A/N:) I wasn't expecting Live Action Smoker to be so dang hot but here we are! I was inspired so greatly that I finally broke the dam and got something written out. It's been a struggle this year as I've been busier than ever but I feel like I'm back and I'm glad this is the first fic I got to post for 2026 and on Smoker's birthday no less! I hope to write more soon so until next time happy reading! ~Countess
As a Marine, Smoker had one job and that was to bring peace to the world and to take out all pirates that haunted the seas. Your wanted poster had been slid across his desk by Tashigi as the stack in his office had started to dwindle, thanks to Smoker's brutal efficiency on capturing pirates. While your bounty wasn't the same as a pirate like Shanks or even the newer Monkey D Luffy , you were still a nuisance to be take care of. Smoker knew he would be the marine for the job and it would be a quick and easy hunt and he could move onto the next pirate poster in the pile. Leaving Tashigi with the crew, Smoker headed out onto the open seas and his hunt began.
Your crew had abandoned you in a cowardly mutiny and now adrift in the sea, your next step alluded your grasp. The marines had been getting braver as a lot of fellow pirates you had entered the search for the One Piece with, were now imprisoned or dead by the Marines' hands. After the golden age of piracy began, towns had suffered from some pirates but majority of pirates left the normal law-abiding citizens alone. You were one of those pirates that left those people alone, there was enough crueler men that ruled places with an iron fist to steal from. Now you felt like a sitting duck out in these waters. You could almost feel the hand of justice tightening it's grip on your throat. Shaking your head, you checked your compass. The closest town was due North and you had somehow shifted to going West, sending you further out to sea. Cursing your luck under your breath you righted your dingy to the North. Wind picking up the waves jostled you a little bit. Closing your eyes you cherished these moments where you felt the most free.
Though you were a wanted person, this life felt more free than you had ever felt. Sailing wherever you wanted and untold adventures ahead sent your heart racing every time you thought of the future. Breathing in deep, the air tinged with salt and a little bit of smoke, you kept your compass handy this time so you wouldn't sail off course again. Moments later you couldn't help the feeling of being watched. Shivers ran down your spine and before you could turn around to check your little boat lurched forward and a motor roared. Spinning around, hand on your blade you braced for impact, only for the loud crack of splintering wood pounding your eardrums. Smoke obscured your vision as the dingy continued to be destroyed right out from under you. Swiping away the smoke you were face to face with the White Hunter himself. Two cigars stuck between his lips and a smirk pulling at his mouth, you knew you were screwed. Raising your hands above your head you plunged into the sea as Smoker destroyed the rest of your boat.
Bobbing back up and spitting out water, you glared at the Marine sitting comfortably on his water treading cycle.
"If you didn't already know," his voice echoed across the sea, a billow of smoke passing between his lips, "you're under arrest pirate."
"Great," you treaded water. "No sense in trying to swim away is there?"
Smoker shook his head before offering out a hand and you had no choice but to take it.
"My hero," you retorted taking his hand.
His grip was firm but not overly harsh but as he helped you out of the water, his second hand placed a cuff around your wrist. Now before you could even blink you wound up sitting behind Smoker both wrists cuffed and he gunned the bike. You grabbed his coat with your fingers, holding on desperately trying not to fly off. You could have sworn you felt his shoulders shake with a quiet chuckle. You had never been a meek woman and you cursed him thoroughly before he glanced back glaring at you. You quieted down but still verbally abused him in your mind.
Hours passed by and you found yourself nodding off as the bike roared underneath you and the waves had you both rocking gently as Smoker continued to head back towards Marine headquarters. Your head rested against against his back, the material of his coat brushing against your heated cheek. Smoker leaned backwards pushing you back, jolting you awake.
"Wake up," he growled. Smoker reached for another cigar and lighting it while keeping one hand on the bike's bars. Smoke billowed around your head thanks to the wind, causing you to cough.
"Mind not gassing me with your gross cigars," you leaned back trying to escape the smoke.
"My habits are the least of your concerns pirate," Smoker replied. "But your situation will be the least of your worries if you drool on my coat."
"Good to know I got the good hearted Marine after my sorry pirate butt. And for your information I do not drool in my sleep and excuse me for having a very difficult week."
"Poor little pirate," Smoker smirked blowing out another lungful of smoke. "Don't worry a little mutiny will be the least of your worries soon enough."
"How did you know," you jumped causing the bike to bob a little more violently.
Smoker huffed before throwing an elbow back in warning, "You weren't on your ship when I tracked it down. Your old crew coughed up your location immediately. Don't worry I cut them a deal and now they and your old ship are resting on the bottom of the ocean."
You swallowed but tightened your grip on Smokers jacket. Out of all the Marines in the world, you were beginning to think that the scariest one out of the whole group found you.
Hours passed and while you dozed off a little bit here and there, you couldn't help but jolt awake at a particular rough wave. You closed your eyes once more, only to hear Smoker grunt. Opening your eyes, you noticed the sun wasn't as bright as it was a few minutes ago. The wind picked up slamming the bike back down on growing waves and the sky darkened further.
"What's happening," you asked though you already knew.
"We're riding into a storm and by the looks of it it's a bad one. Hang on tight we'll ride it out."
"On this thing?!"
"I've been through worse so shut up and let me concentrate!"
The storm overtook you both quickly, the waves jostling the bike violently. You were almost thrown off and Smoker battled valiantly against the current. He gritted his teeth, destroying the smoldering cigar between his teeth before he spit the remains out into the surging sea. The sky opened up and soaked you both to the bone.
"Would it help if I got out and pushed," you retorted trying not to pee your pants in terror.
"It might," he growled holding everything steady with all his might. "I could toss you off and make it easier on myself. But I'm not that cruel of a man."
"Thanks for being such a gentleman, marine," you snorted making him growl in warning.
Lightening split the gray angry sky and thunder shook your bones. Hiding your face in Smoker's back, he allowed you to cling to him tightly. You felt his body stiffen underneath the coat and you suddenly were too afraid to look up. But despite your better judgement you looked up to see the biggest wave you'd ever seen.
"Hang on," Smoker yelled.
"I am," you screamed. "But newsflash I'm still cuffed!"
Smoker rifled through his pocket and held out the key as the bike started to climb the obscenely large wave. You grabbed the key, your cold shaking fingers struggling to get the cuffs off but halfway up the wave the cuffs slipped off falling down and splashing into the ocean. Your arms immediately went around his thick waist, your bare skin grazing across his abdomen where the muscles of his abs flexed against your touch.
"If I survive this Marine you're a dead man!"
"Heard that before and I'm still kicking," Smoker held the machine steady.
His bike chose at the moment to start sputtering. Smoker fought the machine, trying to keep it from dying only for it to sputter out and die. Bobbing dead in the water you both were now at the mercy of the wave and it's unforgiving current. Smoker tried to keep going straight ahead but without the engine pushing forward there wasn't much he could do.
"We're dead," you cried as the wave finally peaked and began to crash down causing you, Smoker, and the bike to go into a freefall. When the bike hit the violent sea below it split in half, sending you and Smoker into the water. You kicked to the surface, spitting out water and fighting the waves to keep from getting dunked back under. Smoker didn't emerge though. You looked at the other half of the bike to see his large hand holding onto the seat before his fingers gave out and sent him into the water. He didn't even try to swim upwards and with a loud curse you dove back down into the water. The salt stung your eyes but you spotted him sinking fast like he was an anchor tossed off a ship. Smoker's eyes were closed as if he had lost consciousness, he still didn't stir as you finally made it to his side and hooked your arms underneath his armpits and kicked your legs harder to get you both to the surface. The storm still raged and the front half of Smoker's bike was gone but the back end was still floating nearby. With a mighty heave you had him across a tire and you held on, hoping and praying that you both could survive the storm.
Smoker stayed unconscious through the whole storm and you struggled to keep you both alive. You couldn't fight the current or the waves so you just held on keeping you and Smoker up on the bike until either the storm calmed or he woke up. Soaked and cold, you prayed for a miracle. Smoker groaned but didn't wake up, even when you shook him harshly. He slipped a little and you scrambled to grab him and set him back up. A silver of light penetrated through the thick clouds, helping you spot an island on the horizon. Gathering what strength you had left, you fought the exhaustion and kicked your legs in the water, pushing the destroyed bike towards the island. The storm began to weaken when you were halfway to the island and as the water became neck high to you, the storm quit all together. The sand squished under your feet as you got Smoker off the bike and dragged him through the sand. It was no small feat to get the big hulking marine onto shore as the sand sunk under his weight and made it harder to drag him. But you heaved and dragged until he was safely out of the water and you collapsed beside him, exhausted.
You awoke with a start as Smoker let out a groan, due to exhaustion and the adrenaline dump you had during the storm you wound up passing out beside Smoker on the wet sand. Though he was making noises, Smoker still hadn't regained consciousness. The sand beneath him was tinged pink from him bleeding from wounds you hadn't noticed before. You could see a gash on his temple, but there had to be another severe wound that would cause him to bleed so much. Your body protested profusely and you had been bleeding slightly if the small puddle of blood where you laid was any indication. Despite your muscles screaming in protest you got up and dragged Smoker's limp form a little further into the tree line.
Leaning him against the trunk of a coconut tree, you started searching his person for a first aid kit or anything useful. His cigars were drenched and falling apart and his bare abdomen showed no signs of the wound. It wasn't until you helped him out of his coat did you see the slice in his side. It wasn't deep but it was bad enough to have him bleeding enough and to be concerned about infection. Finding a useless lighter, another pair of cuffs, even more drenched cigars, a transponder snail, did you finally found a smaller first aid kit that thankfully was waterproof. You opened the pouch to spy a disinfectant spray and bandages with tape to hold them in place.
A little while later you had Smoker bandaged up as best as you could and you treated your minor wound. The storm had passed and the sky above gave no sign that something so horrifying had happened, but now you both were stuck together with no sign of rescue. Smoker's marine friends would head out to look for him but that still left you in a bad predicament, cause you escaped one storm just to be tossed into another one of a different caliber. Smoker groaned by your side and his eyes fluttered open. He blinked against the harsh light of the setting sun before his head moved over to spot you sitting by his side.
"I thought you would have high tailed it out of here pirate," Smoker grumbled.
"With what friends? I have no communications and no resources. I'm stuck here until your marine friends arrive and the amazing White Hunter will still have his mission accomplished by hanging me on the gallows," you glared. Despite having saved his life and knowing you wouldn't get any mercy in return, you had no regrets. If you had to go out saving someone at least it was Smoker. You had heard of his reputation of being the Marines' bad boy, he was the protector of the innocent. While you were a pirate you didn't hurt anyone that didn't deserve it and whatever villages you visited you took what you needed from the ones who could afford it.
"I wasn't going to push for a death sentence," Smoker replied ripping you from your spiraling thoughts.
"Are you just saying that because I dragged your sorry butt from dying an undignified death in the ocean?"
He grumbled while reaching to his sleeve for a cigar only for it to crumble apart in his fingers. He cursed severely before digging in another pocket and fished the sleeping snail out and held it out to you.
"I can't lie or deny the fact that I owe you one. Make a call pirate, get a ride and then I'll call mine."
You snatched the snail from his hand after the fact he offered and reprogrammed it to call out and not to Marine Headquarters. You couldn't call your old crew as they were now dead at the bottom of the ocean, but there was one person left in the world you could count on and he would be there for you whenever and wherever you needed him. After finishing your call and handing Smoker back the snail he placed the sleepy critter back in his pocket, while he cursed his bleeding heart. You plopped down beside him once more to wait. He refused to look at you as he stared across the ocean that had just wiped the floor with both him and you. He sighed deeply before quickly glancing in your direction. He caught you staring at him.
"What," Smoker asked.
"Just looking at the first Marine I ever saved," you leaned back putting your fingers in the still warm sand. "You're welcome."
Smoker snorted, "I think I would have been happier if you had left me to drown. Then I wouldn't have to listen to your inane gloating."
You laughed, spying sails cutting across the sun setting behind the horizon. You leaned in closer to Smoker and kissed him quickly on the cheek. He stiffened but didn't lash out. He watched you leave before finally calling the Marines to come pick him up and bring him back to base where he could set out for the next bounty. Though he did decide that he was either going to put your poster at the bottom of the pile or lose it for good this time. He would decide on the way back but for now he was content to watch you sail away on a new adventure.
Hello dear readers! I am not dead! I am alive and well and I have no excuse for not posting here recently. Actually I do, several honestly. Life, it be hard and busy but I am downsizing so my hobbies are no longer suffering. For over a year I tried to run an Etsy store to sell my artwork and it was fun but I found out Etsy sucks for smaller shop people. But that's beside the point, I feel more freedom now that I closed the thing and now I can create art for me and focus on being more of a local artist. Secondly I had to retire my old laptop. I've been pushing it the past few years and it was time for a new and improved laptop. I finally got one and now I am ready to begin my writing journey once more. I look forward to writing more stories and gaining new followers as I am so close to 2,000 followers on this blog. Which still blows my mind. I also want to focus on finally getting my books wrote. I've dreamed for so long of being able to write books and have them published. I have stories to tell and I want to share them with the world. But I also want to keep writing fanfiction as it is near and dear to my heart! So thank you for your patience and I hope to get some stories posted soon and get back into the swing of things! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
(A/N:) Rewatched Frankenstein with my best friend and this idea smacked me in the face during that rewatch. So I've been working on it ever since and it became a huge fic that I am so proud of! I just adore the Creature and I used Guillermo's name for him Adam in this fic because he deserves a name. So if you can't tell how much I love the Frankenstein movie just by this fic then I don't know what else to do! XD But hopefully you'll enjoy this creation I worked very hard on. So until next time happy reading! ~Countess
Owning a bookstore as a woman was no small feat, if someone wasn't questioning your competency then it was your morality. An unwed lady would have no such desires for literacy pursuits. You should be offering your dowery to bachelors to better yourself and bringing forth the next generation. But there was beauty and comfort nestled between the pages of the stories you read. So harsh words could not penetrate that comfort or dwindle the effect your bookstore had on your life. As the outside weather started drifting into winter you couldn't help but feel cozy nestled amongst the shelves littered with all sorts of genres and titles. But several weeks ago you had begun to notice that as the sun went down a presence seemed to linger. A hauntingly ghostly feeling stroking at your spine but not one of menace, but of sadness and loneliness. You checked out the door several times, the cheery bell above the door echoing through the empty street. Even the shadows amongst the shelves seemed to be hiding such a presence, but still you found no sign and you remained alone until closing time.
Customers came and went, everything normal until once more the sun began to set. Eyes seemed to watch your movements and wouldn't cease until you locked the door for the evening. A week after these feelings had started would you return to the store to see the shelves freshly dusted and coins laid upon the counter as a new empty spaces on several shelves started to turn up. You weren't worried about thieves and whoever it was, was leaving money for the books they took. But you worried for their state of being if they were coming in after you closed shop instead of normal hours of the day. Maybe they were shy or didn't know how to ask with what they wanted. Though concerning you didn't feel like alerting any of the authorities.
Then one dreary day with no one around some questions started to get answers. A large shadow darkened the door as heavy rain splattered against the glass windows. It was unusual for someone to be out in such weather as majority of everyone stayed inside during storms, but once he crossed the threshold did you understand that this wasn't no mere ordinary human inside your quaint little shop. His hood pulled over his head you could only see onyx eyes staring out of the depths as he towered over you, his cloak dripping water onto your floor in quiet little drips.
"Hello," you whispered before clearing your throat. "May I help you?"
"I came inside to get out of the weather," his voice was deep but soft like a gentle breeze could blow it away. "May I look while I am here?"
"Of course you can," you replied giving him a gentle smile. "The store is always open for a fellow book lover, especially one looking to escape such awful weather. Would you like any help in your search? Or is there anything particular you're looking for?"
He shook his head before catching the hood that slipped back a little and replacing it back on his head. "I had read so many different stories and even the Bible. I would probably like any recommendations that you can give me."
You tapped your fingers on the counter, lost in thought as you remembered through all the titles you have read through your lifetime. You weren't so arrogant to think you have read more than this gentleman who walked in. He seemed a little older and wiser you didn't want to insult him.
"You seem like a critical thinker," you replied.
"Not necessarily. Just someone who has been through more than most. Enough to see through two lifetimes."
"Well let's see if I can help you. I highly doubt I'll see anyone else today and who am I to turn away a fellow bibliophile?"
He followed you diligently through the aisles his eyes taking in the wonder of so many books tucked into one place. Worlds upon worlds sitting on wooden shelves just waiting to take readers on journeys they could only dream of. Fiction, non-fiction, medical, biographies, anything a reader came dream of, you collected it. Old books, expensive new books, and ones that just deserved someone to love them. His fingers traced the spines as you both walked by, reading titles but never saying the words as his lips moved under the mask that hid his mouth. Your heart raced as his heavy footsteps echoed behind yours, but the smile on your face couldn't be contained as you finally met a fellow reader who appreciated such marvelous stories like yourself.
"Are you looking to learn or get lost in a world not our own," you asked after several moments of just walking.
He seemed to pause for a moment, his head cocking to the side as his eyes seemed to penetrate deep into your soul. "What would you recommend?"
You laughed a little, "You put a lot of faith in me kind sir. But I think I may know."
You moved ahead just a few feet and he stayed in one spot, letting you work before you started reaching for a book on the higher shelves. You had left your stool back at the counter so even on your tippy toes you still couldn't obtain that which you reached for. A shadow overtook you, the man had made his way behind you so quietly it was astonishing for a man of his stature to move so silently. He loomed over you arm brushing against yours as his fingertips brushed against the book you reached for. Grasping it in his hands he slowly offered it to you, your digits brushing against his. His hands so cold, you worried about his health before he transferred the book over to you completely.
"Your fingers are deathly cold," you stammered. "Are you well?"
"I am a little cold," he replied quietly. "It's nothing for you to worry about."
"Okay if you insist," you cleared your throat and offered the book back to him. "It's so dreary on days like this, especially in winter. I like reading some cheerful poems with a lit candle and a cup of warm tea as it rains. Maybe that would be something that interests you? I have a reading nook up front that you are more than welcome to use until the rain stops if that suits you."
He nodded clutching the book to his chest, "I would like that very much."
"Follow me and I'll show you the way and light some more candles for you to read by."
He followed you silently, his fingers gingerly stroking the cover before he would hold his hand up to his face and stare longingly at the fingertips that brushed against yours. Once you had the gentleman settled you returned to the front to watch the rain streak down the windows. You would snatch quick glances at the stranger sitting in your reading nook before looking back at your hand. Though his skin was cold you could have sworn you felt some sort of warmth zip up your arm through your body when he touched you. But worry continued to nag at your heart. Your fingers would get cold but this seemed unnaturally cold. The mittens in your pocket, the ones your mother had knitted you had been a special gift, but one that had been ill fitting since the day you received them. Your mother had meant well but she had made them too big that you couldn't wear them comfortably. Compared to his large palm and long fingers you had a feeling they would be perfect for him.
He could hear you humming from the counter, the rain quietly tapping against the glass as he flipped through the pages of the book you had recommended. Such an innocent thing as accidently brushing his fingers against yours had his heart beating against his chest. A small touch a lingering gaze and it melted him. Only when you cleared your throat at the side of the chair he now occupied did it shattered him from his thoughts. So deep in thought he hadn't noticed you leaving from behind the counter and stopping by the chair he occupied.
"I know you said that you are used to being cold but please take these," you held out mittens towards him. "My mother made them for me a couple Christmases ago but they've always been too big for me. Maybe they'll help warm your hands."
He took them gingerly from you, slipping the warm wool over his fingers and palm. They were a little snug but he could already feel a little more warmth seeping into his eternally freezing skin. He sucked in a breath, eyes glancing from you back to the seemingly insignificant gift.
"Thank you," he breathed. "I shall cherish them immensely."
"You're welcome," you smiled. "And keep the book it's on the house."
His head turned back towards you a smile gripping his cheeks and in turn it made the mask covering his horrific scars slip and the gasp of horror that escaped your throat had him launching to his feet. The chair tumbled backwards and a couple of the candles blew out. Deep lines of scars marked his whole face and the discolored patches of skin made you realize why his hands were so cold. Without another explanation or any words he took flight out the door into the rain. You stood quietly in the middle of your store watching his shadow disappear between two buildings, before you collapsed to the floor as your heart shattered into a million pieces. You wished you hadn't made any noise but it just took you by surprise. You hoped your reaction didn't frighten him away for good.
Weeks went by and you didn't see him again and anyone you asked had never seen a man of his stature. The next morning after the incident the book that you had gifted him had suddenly disappeared and more money had been placed on your counter. The chair had been righted and the candles replaced with new ones. You suddenly realized that the shadow that had been haunting your bookstore was the man you had met. There was no malice in him towards you and you couldn't help but want to see him again. You didn't mean to be frightened, his appearance had just shocked you, but it didn't bother you in the slightest. Human perfection to you was a myth and people looked the way they were supposed to. No amount of looks would make you change your mind of a person. The prettiest people could be the most awful and the most ugly people (well ugly due to social standards) could be the kindest. Appearance was all in vain and you didn't let it hinder what you thought of someone. So you went through the weeks thinking about him and wondering where he disappeared to, you wanted to apologize and make things right.
You could tell this stranger was kind and melancholy ebbed off him in waves. So you took it upon yourself to keep asking around town about this stranger. Though the townsfolk did nothing but look at you in concern as you described the ghostly man and it turned out you were the only one to see him. You checked the alleyways and various barns but you couldn't find a sign of him anywhere. Sitting in one of the chairs of your reading nook with a huff, you didn't want to give up your search but it was beginning to look impossible. The front door bell rang again and you sighed.
"Welcome," you tried to sound chipper but defeat was making that difficult. "Can I help...you?"
There he stood, shoulders hunched and fingers twisting together in anxiety. His hood was finally pulled down and he left the mask that covered his face around his neck. You truly saw him this time, long dark hair brushing past his shoulders and those deep soulful eyes carried a weight of grief and hurt. Not just his face was miscolored but his hands as well. If he was scarred on his hands and face it meant that his whole body had to be littered in them. You stepped forward a hand held out and he flinched and backed away as if you were about to strike him.
"It's okay," you soothed tears threatening to spill down your pale cheeks. "I've been searching for you."
"I saw you," he whispered but still backed away closer to the door. "I'm sorry I scared you."
You shook your head vehemently, "You didn't frighten me. I can't lie and say I wasn't a little shocked so I'm sorry for the way I reacted. How could someone do something like that to you?"
"My maker," he replied. "I am not a normal human man. I am a thing stitched from the bodies of mortal men who died in battle, a monster that can't be killed."
"How am I to believe such a tale," you shivered wanting to disregard what he said but the proof couldn't be wished away. His patchwork of scars and the icy temperature of his flesh pointed at death. But here he stood filled with life. Gentle and savage and kind and fierce. It made your heart race and this time when you stepped closer he didn't move. A few more steps and you stood before him your head coming to his chest as you looked up into his face. A sad creature and he just so happened to find comfort in your store amongst the many books. In that you knew you had found a kindred spirit.
"A hard tale to believe but it is mine," he grumbled. "Whether you believe or not doesn't make it any less true."
"I said how am I to believe not that I didn't believe. I believe you and I also believe that you are not here to harm anyone." You took his hand interlacing your fingers with his as the material of the mittens you gave him scratched against your palm. "You've been the one coming into my shop after closing. You've been cleaning the place and leaving money for the books you take, even the one I gave willingly. Please come visit when I am here I long for companionship as you do."
"I would like that very much," he squeezed your hand tighter. "Can you recommend me something else?"
"Absolutely. How do you feel about ghost stories?"
That's how your friendship with the creature you came to know as Adam began. His nature of being timid and scared seemed to melt away when in your presence. Once you switched the sign on the front door to closed would he come inside and you both would discuss books or just read in silence. You found yourself spending more time at the shop than you did at home thanks to Adam. Even when it was getting late did you find it hard to leave him, his presence a everbearing comfort. Even when you were yawning barely hanging on to consciousness and him begging you to go home to get some rest did you stubbornly relent. You worried about where Adam was staying until you were able to get him to confess that he had been staying up in the attic of your bookshop. That explained how he was getting in after hours without breaking a window or your front door. You couldn't be angry as you were glad that he felt comfortable and safe staying in your quaint little store. It wasn't lost on you that he found comfort in the same things as you. Books had always been your gateway and finding someone that felt the same seemed like a blessing that came just in time.
After months of time together you found yourself once again staying after hours with Adam. The store was closed, curtains drawn to keep any wandering eyes from seeing the both of you lounging in the cozy chairs in your little reading area. You couldn't help but notice that Adam felt more comfortable alone, him feeling comfortable around you made you feel like you received something so special that it felt like a priceless jewel. Adam deeply enamored by the story he was reading didn't realize that you were watching him for a long time. You both had fallen into an easy friendship and he'd become a confident for you. His curiosity and openness to all you recommended was refreshing after having your knowledge of literacy questioned at every turn. It wasn't just his willingness to listen but also the kindness he showed. A man of strength and uncanny movements was the most gentle creature you had ever had the pleasure to know. As you took in his features, the scars that marred his skin, his full lips, aquiline nose, and long brown hair that brushed against the pages as his head moved with the lines of words. He captured a glance of you staring, making him pause his reading and look up. You quickly looked away going back to reading the paragraph you'd been stuck on for the last ten minutes. You could have sworn that you saw a smile tug at Adam's lips before you both went back into a comfortable undisturbed silence.
Another sunny day and the store was slower than usual, it's quiet atmosphere had Adam emerging during the day. It was these moments that you cherished the most, when he didn't wait until the waning hours of dawn to come down and see you. His arms ladened with books that he finished in a couple days, he quietly but surely started placing them back where they went. Adam's attention to detail astounded you and he knew where things went better than you did. But this wasn't anything unusual and had actually become a weekly occurrence. With nothing more to do Adam read constantly, letting himself be taken daily to different worlds and places and times long past. He saw the world through thousands of eyes as the authors captured sceneries like he never would have thought. But then he met you and a little corner of his world changed. Though he barely spoke, he noticed things about you. The way you smiled and talked to him kindly. You never made him feel less than and you always had a good book handy whenever he was ready for his next read. He hadn't felt such warmth since he lost the first love he had ever known. Tragedy had seemed to plague him at every turn and living as an immortal man was proving to be difficult as he struggled to find his place in his world.
"Need some more recommendations," you asked sitting the order ledger you'd been working on aside.
Adam nodded, suddenly shy.
You knelt down taking several from the stack that you had been collecting for him throughout the week. Creating a tower you couldn't help but want to talk to Adam a lot whenever he visited. Though he didn't answer much and at times he had trouble speaking, Adam never grew tired or angry with how much you spoke. And you never lost your patience when he struggled to answer or just gave you little nods or shakes of his head in reply.
"I know that you enjoy books of all kinds so I thought we might branch you out a little bit," you took a couple more from the pile you'd been excited for him to try. "You're very well learned but I think you could use some time to escape the real world. I know you said you've read fiction before and enjoyed it but how about some stories that are based on other worlds? Galaxies perhaps? Oh this is a good one! It's not outer space but it's another world filled with different creatures and a vast dark evil that must be vanquished by destroying a magic ring. Doesn't that sound exciting? I've read it so many times and I never grow bored of the story." You suddenly blushed, "Sorry I'm rambling again aren't I?"
Adam had stepped closer while you had been talking, your eyes filled with uncontained joy as you spoke about these stories. He always liked what you recommended but to see you so excited about him reading one of your absolute favorite tales had him more than excited to share something with you. He didn't like that you felt you had to silence your enthusiasm when it came to talking with others, he didn't want you to do that with him. He'd been hurt in such ways, no one to understand him, a longing to belong and be seen. A few strands had escaped the bun you always kept your hair in, brushing against your reddening cheeks. He'd seen you blush before but it hadn't really captivated him until this moment. With a gentle brush of his finger he moved the strand back behind your ear. You froze, sucking in a deep breath and wide eyes staring straight into Adam's. He stepped backward, stumbling a little bit. You were about to say something, to comfort him, that he did nothing wrong when the front door bell chimed merrily messing the moment up even further. Without another word, Adam grabbed just one book before disappearing. You greeted the customers fighting back tears as you took in the abandoned stack, the book you had gushed on about missing. Knowing that he took that one made you feel a little bit better. But the fact that he felt like he had to hide constantly tore your heart to shreds.
Adam made his escape, disappearing into the little place he called home up in the attic. It wasn't much but it was his to call home and hearing your voice down below seemed to make everything cozier. He had collected tattered blankets and a chipped gas lamp to use to read all through the night. And as he sat amongst his blankets, back leaned up against a support beam he absentmindedly stroked the cover of the book you had recommended so joyously. Your voice drifted up as you greeted the customers who made him flee, he opened the book eyes skimming the first page. He was hooked immediately, he could imagine the story flowing before your eyes, but then the thought of you reading the same story your voice speaking the words to him overtook his mind.
That evening with the doors finally closed Adam remerged the book clutched tightly to his chest. You hadn't noticed him just yet as you were finishing latching the last lock before turning around and seeing him in the shadows. You jumped slightly, hand placed on your chest as your heart raced.
"You scared me," you laughed feeling ridiculous that he could still sneak up on you.
He held the book out suddenly shy, "I'm enjoying this one."
You picked up an abandoned stack that a customer decided they didn't want after you worked an hour with them trying to figure out what exactly they were wanting. Adam stepped forward taking the stack while he set the book he was reading on the table in your little reading area.
"Good," you hummed. "'I'm so glad. I'm sorry that you couldn't take the rest of them.''
"I'll take them tonight," Adam replied placing each book where they go. His fingers lingering on the spines in a reverent gesture of the stories embedded inside the pages.
"Um would you mind reading to me some before I leave tonight?"
You had been gathering the courage to ask him to read out loud. Though Adam didn't speak often and he kept his answers short, you couldn't help but love hearing his voice. It had been so long since you read the book that he had started it honestly would feel like coming home. Adam stared at you a book held in mid air almost to it's spot amongst the shelves with it's fellow stories.
"I think I can manage," he finally replied slipping the book into place and going back to focusing on his task. Since he was taller he wanted to make this his job to take care of placing the removed books where they belong. It almost seemed therapeutic to his being, returning lost things where they go. Despite his focus he could still see you out of the corner of his eye, the happiness lighting up your face while you went to go light more candles.
With more candles lit and you scooting a chair closer to the one Adam always sits in you were more than ready to be whisked away to a place that you always called home. Adam seemed stiff at your close proximity but still he geared himself to do as he had promised you. Opening to where he left off, which wasn't far in the book. His thoughts had been overran by you that he couldn't concentrate earlier when he had sat down to read. He couldn't complain though and your eager body language had him motivated to make this the best story telling that you ever heard.
His voice reverberated through the room and it captivated you immediately. The words easily slipping off his tongue, as Adam read. You found yourself leaning closer, despite knowing the story already by heart you were captured by the tale and the deep tone of Adam's voice. He brought such characters and backgrounds to life but you were also a little tired from the day. You weren't about to call it a day though and leave him behind just yet. So you eased your cheek onto his shoulder, watching his fingers move across the pages as he read. Adam paused feeling the softness of your cheek, even through his thick coat. He glanced down to see you sigh contentedly before you noticed that he had quit reading. Looking up you spied him staring at you and you jolted upwards your cheeks immediately heating.
"Sorry," you apologized, "I'm a little sleepy and you read beautifully."
His memories immediately went back to a little cottage and an elderly blind man who was more than just kind. He remembered stories and many beginnings and he couldn't help but feel the same in this moment in the present. You felt like a new beginning and he hated that he had made you feel uncomfortable. He could still feel your warmth in his skin and the pressure of the weight of your head pressing against his joint. Timidly he reached out, stroking that cherry red cheek. Your eyes darted upwards before going back to the floor before glancing back at him. You were indecisive but you didn't recoil from his touch. It emboldened Adam as he cupped your cheek. In reply you nuzzled deeper in his touch, finally gaining the courage to look into his eyes. The depths of emotion that gazed back at Adam had his heart singing. You reached up cupping his cheek back before you gently guided him down closer to your face. The book now forgotten and abandoned on Adam's lap. His breath mingled with yours as you brushed his dark hair from the other cheek that wasn't nestled in your warm palm. Reaching upwards you pressed your lips softly against his scarred cheek. He sucked in a breath, frozen in place at the new sensation. It was like life and death and stars erupting to form new galaxies. You pulled away a new determination shining forth as you stood from your chair. Adam also tried to rise but you placed a hand on his chest and shook your head. He remained seated and you stepped to stand before him. Cupping his jaw in both your hands, you held him still as you pressed several kisses to his face. His forehead, then temple, other cheek, before laying one last one on his nose. He was panting, hardly in control as new feelings emerged as he traced your lips with his pointer finger. So soft and warm and the color of blushing rose petals. You were a marvel a wonderful creation. He felt like he didn't deserve you but if he spoke such things it would upset you. So he kept them to himself.
"You are beautiful," you cooed your voice just a breath of a whisper.
Adam tugged you into his arms, holding you tightly against his chest. He felt like his heart could burst from his chest. He wanted to rip it from between his ribcage and offer it to you. A gift to you for all eternity.
"Would you be my companion," he asked so quietly that you had to strain to hear. "Journey with me through this life as long as you can?"
Once again you made Adam look back up into your eyes, you could have sworn hope flickered in those depthless eyes, "I would like that very much."
He pulled you back down, nestling you onto his lap while his lips gently brushed against yours. A chaste kiss that promised something more in time. You replied with another brush against his mouth before he finally captured your lips. The promise of a lifetime in his taste as you found yourself writing your own beautiful story in the candlelight with a man who made you feel whole once more. He was the most beautiful creature you ever met scars and all and you wanted to share more stories with him but most of all you wanted to share your life with his and you had a feeling Adam felt the same way.
Imagine Spending Thanksgiving Day With Maverick For the First Time

(A/N:) Happy Thanksgiving lovely readers! I've had this eating at my brain all day while I cooked to prepare for Thanksgiving and I had to get it written in time for this wonderful holiday! I hope everyone's Thanksgiving is amazing and each and every one of you get to eat yummy food and that you enjoy this little piece that I had a little too much fun writing. Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
Being married to one Pete "Maverick" Mitchell was the greatest thing that had ever happened to you. Walking down the aisle and saying I do meant a lifetime of happiness and despite marital bliss you couldn't help but feel like there was a little pressure to make the first holidays together extra special. Now Thanksgiving had landed and you felt overwhelmed and unprepared. It didn't help that the night before that Maverick was reminiscing to you of the meals his mother would make on Thanksgiving day and the way it sounded you had big shoes to fill.
So you had spent the evening making a gameplan and researching recipes out of a cookbook that had been collecting dust for years. It wasn't like you had never helped your mom with the Thanksgiving meal but with living on base made it where you had to fly solo to create an unforgettable meal for both you and Mav. No pressure you thought as your shoulders seemed to sag further from the weight of expectations of yourself.
A turkey from the butcher was your first item, before you stopped by the grocery store to combat the crowds of people that had waited last minute to get their ingredients as well. Dodging people with your cart with maneuvers that would make any Top Gun pilot envious and a race to the last can of cranberry sauce you marked everything off your list. Setting the bags of groceries into your car you made plans on everything you needed to prepare and the excitement started taking a hold.
Carrying the bags inside and putting things away, you heard the front door open.
"I'm home," Maverick called out while he shut the door and locked it back.
"Welcome home," you skipped from the kitchen resting your arms on his shoulders before leaning in for a kiss.
"Someone's in a good mood," he grinned giving you a soft peck on the lips.
"Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I want to make it extra special for you," you hugged him tighter before letting him go so Maverick could remove his leather jacket and put up his keys.
"Don't go out of your way," he replied. "I want this enjoyable for the both of us."
"Wow Maverick telling me not to go all out. Do you have a fever," you asked pressing the back of your hand to his forehead.
"Yes," he chuckled removing your hand but laving sweet kisses against your digits. "I can be reasonable when it benefits my lovely one and only girl."
"Definitely a fever," you retorted. "It's making you delusional and sappy."
"Oh yeah? I'll show you delusional and sappy," Maverick lead you away from the front door his fingers threading together with yours.
The next day came quickly and that moment of marital bliss was long forgotten by the chaos happening around you. The kitchen looked like a fire fight had happened in the middle of it and you were pretty sure there was stains on the floor and counter that could never be removed. The potatoes were boiling over in the pot causing angry hissing a flickers of flame. You knew the green bean casserole was a complete disaster as you didn't add enough liquid to it and the vegetables now resembled green bean jerky. Frustrated tears streamed down your cheeks as you battled the flames happening in the oven as the turkey decided to burst into flames just to spite you. Your perfectly laid plans literally going up in smoke as you finally got the engulfed oven under control.
Now you sat on the floor covered in flour and various food stuffs with a piece of charcoal that was once a pumpkin pie you released your frustrations in the form of tears. That's how Maverick found you when he finally got home. Seeing you sitting in a mess on the floor, shoulders sagging in defeat he dropped everything to the floor and dashed to your side.
"I ruined everything," you hiccupped a fresh wave of tears brewing when you noticed Mav at your side.
Maverick shushed you gently reaching for a clean dishtowel and wetting it with cool water. He wiped at the tear tracks streaking your cheeks and the soot off your nose. His other hand cupping your chin, thumb rubbing soothing circles into your skin.
"You didn't ruin anything," he replied. He finished and helped you up off the floor. "Why did you put so much pressure on yourself sweetheart?"
"Because," you sniffed while Maverick continued to wiped away your tears of frustration, "I wanted our first Thanksgiving to be special and unforgettable."
"Well," he shrugged and grinned mischievously, "you succeeded in one of those. It's definitely one we won't forget."
You smacked his arm but couldn't help but laugh a little, "Jerk."
Maverick chuckled tugging you into his chest where he could hold you tightly against him.
"You had talked about the Thanksgiving meals your mom had prepared you throughout the years and I wanted to give you a delicious dinner so we could celebrate together."
"I would have been more than happy with frozen pizza if you had made it for me," he sighed. "You mean more to me than any turkey dinner."
"Well the turkey is pretty much ashes so we most likely will be having frozen pizza tonight," you stepped backwards to go start cleaning up. But Maverick refused to let you go just yet.
"Actually," he hummed with a grin pulling at his lips, "I think the danger zone of a kitchen can wait. I have a better idea. Go get cleaned up and dressed into something nice but comfortable."
"What are you scheming Pete?"
"You'll see," he winked and finally released you.
Maverick parked his motorcycle and helped you off the back before offering his arm to you. You took it giving his forearm a squeeze as he lead you inside into the busy restaurant. The bustling waitresses and owner greeted the pilot with enthusiasm.
"Hey Mav," a waitress passed you both by a tray full of drinks, "just sit wherever and we'll get to you and the missus in just a second."
"Thanks," Maverick replied his hand moving to rest against your lower back, "no rush."
Pulling out a chair from the table, Mav waited until you sat down for him to push your chair back towards the table. Though it wasn't how you thought the day would go, to see Maverick sitting across from you at a table was what you wanted from the start. Families sitting at the tables surrounding you and even elderly couples talking quietly and enjoying one another. Your heart began to swell and the guilt of your failure was starting to disappear with every laugh and smile you spotted in the crowd. Maverick reached across grasping your hand to gain your attention and it worked as his thumb stroked across your knuckles.
"We aren't the only ones eating out today," he cocked his head. "I wish you would have asked me for help today. You don't have to shoulder the burden alone. Our marriage is a partnership," he leaned in across the table and you did the same where he could whisper in your ear. "You're my wingman from now until forever."
"Sap," you snorted though you couldn't help but blush. "But I think I can handle being your wingwoman."
"I'll be a better husband more than I am a pilot and we both know I'm the best there is."
"I'll hold you to that."
"Please do. Happy Thanksgiving sweetheart."
"Happy Thanksgiving Maverick," you replied thankful that you had Maverick through all the moments in life. Though Thanksgiving didn't go like you planned it and there was a colossal mess to clean up at home the worries and pressure were no longer weighing you down. With Maverick there was so much to be thankful for and as the evening waned onward that thankfulness only continued to grow.
(A/N:) Muzan is one of my favorite villains ever so I had to write something horrifying to end Halloween. I hate to see this season end as my job gets busier and busier. Hopefully I can keep writing more and more though as I've missed being able to write so much. I hope everyone is having a wonderfully nightmarish Halloween! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
It was a well known fact that one night of the year that demons were the most powerful. Despite demons being terrifying the majority of the year it was this one night that they caused the most chaos as they were more powerful than ever. Even the hashira made sure they were prepared for anything on this night and majority of the other slayers made themselves scarce. Not you though, for some reason you decided to go on patrol anyway but what you didn't expect was to run into him.
The night seemed perfect, a full moon and the cool temp made you shiver. Gripping your belt where your nichirin blade stayed tucked into your side. Shivers were trickling down your spine as you felt something was wrong. You should turn and make a run for it, but you're a member of the demon slayer corps and you refuse to let fear take over. The shadows seem to surround you swallowing you whole. You skid to a stop your skin erupting into goosebumps as a tall form parted the shadows. Pale skin and reddish eyes had you stumbling backwards while he continued forward. A powerful smirk pulling at his lips had the blood freezing in your veins.
"Well well what a favorable night for me," he purred the power radiating off of him had you speechless. "A demon slayer in my territory and apparently with a death wish as it is the night where I am at my most powerful."
"You're a demon," you snarled the trance he had you in broken quickly. You drew your blade taking a stance despite the tremors in your hands. You gritted your teeth, trying to keep yourself from retreating.
"How astute," he chuckled. "Beautiful and smart must be my lucky night."
He disappeared in an instant, you tensed back up ready for anything. He moved so quickly, he's powerful and you can feel your stomach twisting into knots. Instantly he reappeared right in front of you. Before you could swing your blade he gripped your face, squishing your cheeks.
"At first I thought you a boring little slayer but up close I can see the potential," he cooed.
"Who are you," you snarled as best as you could while looking death right in the eye.
He chuckled leaning in closer to your ear and whispered the breath caressing your skin causing you to shiver, "Muzan Kibutsuji."
Whatever strength you mustered abruptly vanished at the sound of that name. Muzan, the demon, the bane of the demon slayer corps existence. You melted the only thing keeping you upright was his hand still clasping your cheeks.
"How much of my blood can you take little slayer? Think you can handle becoming my plaything? Let's find out shall we?"
Tears trailed down your cheeks as Muzan showed you no mercy. You regretted patrolling alone, you didn't want to go through what happened next. But as Muzan held onto you tightly you melted against him, despair gripping your heart as you gave in to the powerful demon. Living and dying meant nothing in this one moment as Muzan did what he wanted and you had no say in this horror filled night.
Imagine Taking Rudo Trick-or-Treating For the First Time With Enjin

(A/N:) Happy Halloween my lovely readers! I hope your holiday is safe and fun and filled with all sorts of spooky treats! I haven't had much time for writing but I have been trying to fill this month full of spooky fun and tonight will be no different! Had this idea while driving and I wanted to make sure I got it posted on this day! I hope it makes you smile like it did me while I wrote it! Until next time happy reading and Happy Halloween! ~Countess
Rudo walked the hall of the cleaners' headquarters with Enjin close by. The whole building decorated inside and out with various Halloween decorations, especially your bedroom and the walls surrounding your bedroom door.
"What is going on around here," Rudo asked while Enjin stopped to knock on your door.
"Never heard of Halloween little man," Enjin asked leaning over to kiss your cheek when you opened the door.
"Halloween," Rudo eyed you both in confusion. "I know the richer people celebrated holidays but we never did. We're lucky to live through most days.
"Never heard of Halloween," you gasped returning Enjin's kiss before stepping towards Rudo. The young man stepped back, suddenly nervous at the closeness of your face. "Have you even been trick-or-treating?"
"Nooo," Rudo looked away his whole body trembling.
Glancing back at Enjin, who shrugged, "We're remedying that today. Because one today is Halloween and two every kid needs to experience trick-or-treating. Free candy Rudo and lots of it!"
Enjin chuckled at the excitement in your voice and whenever you said the word candy had Rudo listening intently. You grasped onto Rudo's hand and started dragging him towards August's quarters.
"What are we doing here," Rudo asked while the crazed artist and creator of the cleaners screamed behind the door.
"Costumes and who better than August," you replied forcefully opening the door. Normally no one would bother the high strung man until he was ready but since it was Halloween and you were asking him for something that would be right up his alley, you knew August would overlook the intrusion.
"Hey hey hey!" August whipped around waving a hammer in your direction. "What's the reason you would be interrupting me!?"
"Costumes," you replied with a smirk. "Happy Halloween August. Rudo hasn't ever been trick-or-treating Enjin and I are going to take him."
"Costumes?! Well you came to the right guy!!" Grabbing onto Rudo August began dragging the young man away.
"Good luck," you called out as Rudo struggled. Enjin couldn't help but chuckle, knowing that you weren't sorry for dragging the poor kid to his demise. You both took a seat while August decked out Rudo and the sound of the struggling made you both laugh. Not too long after Rudo came sprinting out with August right on his heels. Thankfully he was done before his head whipped around towards you and Enjin sitting in his room.
"Next," he bellowed causing you and Enjin to jump.
"Us? We're just taking the kid August," Enjin waved his hands trying to calm the eccentric artist down but the blond haired man wasn't having it. Enjin became the next victim of August's chaotic mind. Moments later Enjin was shoved out from the back room skin stained green with stitches drawn over his face and neck, black hair, an oversized suit, and two bolts glued to his neck.
"May I present Frankenstein's monster," August gloated gleefully while Enjin couldn't help but rub the back of his neck.
You clapped," He looks awesome! So do you Rudo."
Rudo had finally came out of hiding, his werewolf in mid-transformation costume was really stealing the show, but honestly you couldn't take your eyes off Enjin. Though you had been dating him for a long while now you couldn't get over the fact that he was such a big part of your life. August suddenly whipped around towards you causing you to jump a little bit.
"Next victim," he grinned widely making you nervous.
"That's okay August I'm fine just going as myself," you trembled.
"Don't be a stick in the mud! I have the perfect costume picked out for you!"
August tugged at your shirt pulling it up and exposing your waist and stomach.
"Hey," you screeched tugging your shirt back down. "Don't strip me in front of Enjin and the kid August!"
Enjin calmly walked over to the chair he had occupied before sitting down and steepling his fingers and watching intently, "Proceed."
"Enjin! Fine I'll wear the costume but I'm getting dressed back there too."
August waved his hands inviting you to go first while he followed, ready to lend a hand if you needed him. It didn't take you long and August helped you with the wig and the makeup and before you knew it, you stepped out in your bride of Frankenstein costume. Enjin's mouth gaped open, eyes wide. You were a vision with lips painted dark black and eyeliner making the color of your eyes pop and a tattered white dress you suddenly felt sheepish.
"Ummm trick-or-treat," you posed stiffly. Rudo was blushing and Enjin remained rigid in his chair. He wanted a treat right now but his thoughts were too inappropriate to speak out loud with a child around. So he settled for stroking your cheek and starting out the door.
"The night is wasting let's go get Rudo some candy," he walked straight out the door leaving you and Rudo both behind. August cackled gleefully, handing Rudo a bag to put all his candy in.
"Have fun!"
You took Rudo's hand and started following Enjin. It took a moment to catch up with the cleaner before you finally clasped his hand leaving you in the middle of him and Rudo. While you hadn't planned on going out in costume, you couldn't help but feel giddy that you were getting to celebrate your favorite holiday with two of your favorite people. Nudging Enjin, you grinned widely and he returned your gesture with his own smile. He knew this was going to be a Halloween to remember for a long long time.
(A/N:) Rewatched the Vampire Hunter D movies the other day for the article I wrote for my job and I was inspired. There will never be enough D fics! I wish they would animate more of the novels too they're so good! But I'm finally getting around to posting some Halloween fics and hopefully more to come! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
You'd been traveling with D for awhile now and no one else could see the tells of the dhampir when he was struggling. Though half human, D had the countenance of the vampires. The sun though not deadly drained him and he needed blood, though not as often. He had fed from you a few times when he was desperate and you offered. Now as you sat across from D, the dark no longer scaring you as long as he was close by, you could tell that he was on the verge of collapse. You could hear the curse in his hand belittling him and getting onto him for pushing himself too hard. D would have to rest tomorrow in the dirt but for tonight you could help him stave off the sickness. Scooting closer to him, D scooted away knowing what you were doing.
"No," he said quietly.
"You need to feed D," you argued getting closer again only for him to move away again. "Stubborn dhampir," you snarled.
Moving quickly you sat right next to him, he could have moved even before you did but he didn't. He knew you wouldn't give up and the burn in his throat was becoming too much to bear. He didn't want to hurt you and yet you trusted him more than he did himself. Parting the hair from your neck, you offered yourself.
D shook his head and reached for your arm. He was too afraid that he would lose control if he bit into your neck. You stroked his cheek while letting your hair fall back to cover your neck.
"I trust you," you whispered waiting for the quick sting of the puncture of his fangs.
"You shouldn't," he replied his nose brushing against the skin of your wrist, causing you to shiver. Without another word his teeth began to lengthen and as gently as he could punctured into the vein. You winced but held tightly to his knee, watching D's throat move up and down as he swallowed.
"D," you breathed and he moved away licking the punctures before following the trail that had dripped down your forearm to the crook of your arm. The cold air hitting the wet trail D left on your skin making you shiver more. But still D didn't let you go, his grip tightened while he continued to follow up your arm. He kissed at your shoulder, nipping at it softly before you moved your head to the side, offering yourself to him once more. His clawed fingertips brushed the hair from your neck and you melted against him.
"More," he growled.
"It's okay," you soothed cupping his cheek while D leaned in closer. His fangs scratched against your jugular before he came to his senses and moved a little further away from the larger vein that kept you alive. After deeming this new spot safer he bit down and this time you couldn't help but cry out. His mouth moving your skin causing your body to heat up. You tugged at his cape but you didn't want him to stop until he had his fill. D pushed you to your back, his legs straddling your waist, but his mouth never left your neck. Holding him tightly you knew it wouldn't be too much longer and he would release you and avoid you like the plague.
"Don't be ashamed," you whispered into his ear. "Please don't push me away after this I want to help you through whatever you go through. I care about you."
D sighed and swallowed one more time before he released you. Stopping the bleeding and still leaning over you. His forehead pressed against yours, his long hair brushing against your cheeks.
"I can't make any promises," he replied reaching out to stroke your slightly pale cheek.
"Just try," you smiled warmly. "I want to help you through anything in this life."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome," you kissed the tip of his nose. "Can I have something to eat I'm a little hungry now?"
"Yeah get off the little lady this is getting a little awkward for me," D's cursed hand snarled, face pressed into the sand but sensing D's desires.
D stood up quickly going to the saddle bags and rummaging around for something for you to eat. You watched him intently, your neck throbbing but the memory of his lips on your skin making you shiver and shift in your seat on the sand. Traveling with D was never dull and your fondness for the dhampir grew every day as the misunderstood man shown more humanity than the humans themselves. You grinned taking the offered food and kissing his soft cheek. You didn't care wherever D went you would go with him and you hoped he felt the same.
"How are you so bad at this," you laughed while holding another cloth to Dante's sliced thumb. Obviously you knew he'd heal quickly but it was a habit that remained no matter how many injures you watched him receive.
"The pumpkin has it out for me I swear," Dante whined while resting his cheek on your shoulder.
Checking the wound and seeing it closed you removed the cloth and tossed it in the trash. Before going back to your seat at the table, that was strewn with various carving tools and pumpkin guts, you took a look at Dante's blood splattered pumpkin.
"Is that supposed to be a mutant pig with stick legs," you cocked your head sideways hoping that a different angle would help you decipher the shapes.
"It's supposed to be a spider," he glared.
"A pig spider?"
Dante sighed," That does sound pretty awesome. What are you carving into yours?"
You took your seat again and spun the pumpkin you were working on around so Dante could see it.
"A sugar skull."
Dante's jaw dropped, "That's amazing!"
"Thank you," you grinned before getting back to work. "How about next year I just take care of the pumpkin carving?"
"Fine but I still want to watch you," he begrudgingly agreed.
"Well of course."
Vergil X FemReader
You were supposed to be finishing your pumpkin but all you could do was watch in amazement your fist full of pumpkin innards while Vergil's deft fingers used the kitchen knife you lent him, skillfully carve his pumpkin. When you had first brought the gourds inside and explained what festive activity you both would be doing this evening, he just scoffed and refused. It took a lot of pouting and pleasing before he finally relented.
"You're unbelievable at this," you remembered the goop in your hand and dropped it in the mixing bowl with a wet splat.
"It's easy, anyone with half a brain can use a knife for something so simple."
"Simple? Have you seen some of the carvings people can do Vergil?"
He shrugged, "Like I said simple."
You glared but went back to working on your pumpkin, "Whatever."
Moments later and Vergil turned his pumpkin around where you can view his work. The skull that Vergil carved was so lifelike you could have sworn it was gazing at you with it's empty orange sockets.
"It looks so real Vergil!"
Though Vergil liked to act like such compliments did nothing to his emotional state, you could tell that he puffed up a little. Looking back down at your pumpkin and feelings of inferiority squeezed your heart. But with a deep breath you steeled yourself and kept working. It didn't matter if your pumpkin was perfect like Vergil's, all that mattered was you having fun and spending time with the man you cared about.
Vergil read while you focused and gave your masterpiece its final touches. Setting down the knife you breathed deeply and spun it around to show Vergil who slowly looked up from his page. A classic jack-o-lantern face grinned at him from across the table.
"It took you that long to carve a face," Vergil teased.
"Not everyone is as talented with blades as you are Vergil," you scoffed and patted your pumpkin lovingly. "I think it's cute!"
Vergil chuckled, "It's perfect just like you."
You blushed, "Thank you Vergil."
Nero X FemReader
"Nero! Let's carve pumpkins together this year," you yelled shutting the door with your foot as you carried in two pumpkins and a plastic store bag filled with small candles.
"You do know Halloween is like a week away," Nero called from the kitchen. "They won't last that long."
"Then we'll just carve more closer to Halloween," you placed the gourds on the table and gave your white haired boyfriend your best pout. "Please Nero? I really want to spend some time with you."
Nero's shoulders deflated and his shook his head though his lips were tugging into a smile, "Okay. I can't resist that cute face."
"Yay!" You clapped before going to the kitchen drawer for a couple knives and big spoons.
A peaceful quiet settled over Nero's apartment as you both focused on working on your pumpkins. Though you wanted to sit close by Nero he insisted that you both sit away from one another that way the pumpkins could have a big reveal when you both finished. You wanted to argue but gave in, then upped the ante by giving you both a time to finish. On the count of three you both had started and it didn't take long before trash talking turned into the quiet that had settled in now.
"Two minutes," you announced after a quick glance at your phone screen.
Nero quickened his pace as did you and in no time at all your phone timer began to beep. Setting down the tools, you glanced at Nero who was smirking.
"Ready," he asked and you nodded.
Turning both your pumpkins you started to laugh.
"What is that?!"
Nero looked offended, "It's a zombie goose!"
"Looks like a zombie noodle instead," you wheezed.
"Oh yeah?! Well what is yours supposed to be?"
"Little ghosts dressed up as a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and a werewolf," you snarled.
"Looks like blobfish," Nero retorted.
"Does not!"
"Does too!"
"Fine," you stuck out your hand, "it's a tie. They both suck."
"Agreed," Nero took your hand before pulling you around the table and sitting you on his lap. "Happy Halloween sweetheart."
"Happy Halloween jerk."
V X FemReader
V leaned in close to his pumpkin, his tongue slightly sticking out from the side of his mouth. His concentrating face made you giggle but not loud enough to disturb the dark haired man. When he had suggested that you both carve pumpkins you quickly agreed as you didn't get to spend much time with V. Now armed with a pumpkin scooper and a carving knife you and V started to work.
You couldn't help but be curious on what he could possibly be carving into his pumpkin. The curiosity was enough it was hard to pay attention to your own work.
"Need some help," V asked.
"No," you shook your head looking back down at your untouched pumpkin. "You're distracting me."
V chuckled but went back to work. You glanced back up and couldn't help but smile as V continued to work. This was your first Halloween with V and you wanted it to be one to remember forever. V was so good to you and you wanted to return the favor as he brought you so much happiness.
"How's yours coming along," V asked when he saw you glaring at your pumpkin.
"I can't decide on what I want to carve," you sighed putting your forehead on the table in despair.
"Why not a classic face," V suggested.
"But everyone does that," you raised your head with a pumpkin seed stuck perfectly in the middle of your forehead. V snorted loudly trying to keep himself from busting out laughing. He reached over and plucked the seed from your skin and placing it into the bowl sitting in the middle of the table.
"Yeah but nobody can make a pattern like you can. Give it a try," V encouraged and went back to work.
With inspiration fueling you, you finally started carving your pumpkin. V finished his and came to stand behind you watching you work quickly. With one more cut you finally finished and the smiling jack-o-lantern was finished.
"It's perfect," V kissed the top of your head.
"Thank you," you leaned back against him. "Can I see yours now?"
V walked back over and picked up his pumpkin and sitting it before you. The design of a book covered in a sheet covered the front of the pumpkin.
"It's a boooook," he explained.
"That's perfect," you laughed. "I love your boooook. Let's get them out front right now!"
V chuckled again carrying his pumpkin while you raced to the front door with yours. He couldn't help but enjoy this holiday a little more with you involved.

Imagine Gris Sneaking You Out Of Cleaners Headquarters The Night Before A Mission

(A/N:) Been working on this bad boy for awhile and it's finally done! While Enjin is my beloved Gris is a VERY close second! I love them both so much so I've been wanting to write for both of them and this idea popped into my head but it really took off more than I expected it too. Love it when that happens! So enjoy the little slice of steamy chaos that has been bashing my brains in the past two weeks! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
When it came to being a part of The Cleaners you didn't take the nights you got to sleep in your own bed for granted. Especially the nights before you had to leave on another mission. If anyone asked you what your favorite part of coming home would be, you would say sleeping in your own bed but you couldn't help but think about seeing a certain supporter. Gris and you had become an item a while ago and while you were a giver and him a supporter you never felt like he was helpless or useless to the organization. Supporters like Gris were just as important as givers like yourself in your opinion.
Unfortunately when you made it home this time, Gris was nowhere around. Him and the others were still out working on a job of a trash beast wrecking havoc through a town. Though capable of handling himself you couldn't help but worry about his safety. Though Enjin would make sure all of his team members would be protected to the best of his ability. That night you felt restless but eventually you were able to fall asleep. You had to make sure to get plenty of rest before you head out on another mission. You were in a deep sleep when someone snuck in and shook you awake. Seeing the shadow standing above you, you immediately went on the attack only for your would be assailant to grab your wrist in a strong bone crushing grip.
"It's me," Gris' voice cut through the darkness as he flipped on the lamp at your bedside.
"You scared me," you hit his arm causing him to grimace.
"I didn't mean to," he retorted leaning over to brush a kiss to your forehead.
"I didn't know you were supposed to be back tonight," you whispered setting up in your bed so you could be closer to Gris.
He sighed rubbing the back of his neck, "We weren't supposed to but we ran out of supplies in No Man's Land. We came back to restock and we're heading back out tomorrow."
You reached for his gloved hand, tracing the length of his fingers under the material. Gris had a grip that could crush trash beasts and protect his team members through sheer force. But he never used them to hurt you, everything he did was full of care and tenderness. You feared one day his selfless bravery would take him from you one day, so every time he left out you worried you'd never seen him again.
"I have a mission in the morning myself," you leaned against his body and Gris wrapped you in his arms. "I hate that we aren't on the same team. Who's going to watch your back and keep you from doing something reckless?"
Gris chuckled, stroking your cheek as he felt the worry tensing your body despite him already being at your side, "Enjin takes care of his team."
"Enjin is the reason your team stays in so much trouble," you glared.
"He's a good leader," Gris tucked a finger under your chin making you look him right in the eyes. "We could ask for a transfer for you?"
"I've thought about it," you sighed. "But I don't think the boss wants me to leave the team I'm on. He put me there in the first place."
"I can be very persuasive," Gris purred.
"Oh I know," you grinned tugging at a strand of blond hair that stuck out from his cap.
Gris rose from the side of your bed he was sitting on. Stretching like a lazy cat before offering a hand to help you up.
"I don't want to speak on negative things tonight. I came to get you and bring you outside. It's a beautiful night and I've missed you too much to spend it alone."
"I wouldn't ever ask you to spend any night alone Gris," you whispered taking his offered hand and letting him lead you outside the Cleaners' base.
Gris hadn't been lying when he said the night was beautiful. Colder and darker due to the moonless night, but you could see the lights of the town on the horizon and a gentle breeze stirred the surroundings. Cool and crisp and full of wonder it stole your breath away. But not as much as Gris did when you spotted his look of contentment. He had told you long ago that you were all he ever needed, everything he could ever want in life. You never doubted that he meant it for a moment. Cause despite the beauty that surrounded him, his gaze dropped to you and his look left you breathless. His smile left you weightless and when he tugged your hand to follow, you went with no arguments. He lead you towards the vehicle parked out of the way, the hood still warm. Gris looked back his smile an invitation and you squeezed his hand in reply. Gris helped you up into the backseat of the vehicle. You scooted back until your back rested against the door on the other side while Gris lifted himself and closed the door behind him. His cleaner uniform rustling against the fabric of the seats.
"I missed you," you whispered in the dark while Gris gently guided you to lay down.
"I missed you too," he replied pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead as he hovered above you.
You felt more comfortable with Gris as you never felt like you had to carry a conversation. Moments with him could be spent in comfortable silence and he never pushed you to do anything you didn't want. He was open and loving and you couldn't love him more than you already did in these few stolen moments together. While he stayed above you, his glance full of love you reached up to pull the hat from his head. His blond locks sticking to the base of his skull from sweat. Mussing the strands they fell freely above his shoulders and you twirled a lock around your finger before your thumb found the scar that started above his eyebrow. He closed his eyes sucking in a deep breath as you traced the scar down to where it ended, right above his mouth resting right on his cheek. His eyes flew open as he grasped onto your hand and brought the pad of your thumb to his lips. Brushing a kiss against the calloused skin of your thumb pad you shivered in delight before releasing the golden lock of hair to hold onto the collar of his clothing.
Gris chuckled watching your eyelashes flutter and your breasts rising and falling quicker as your body struggled to pull in enough air. He liked being the one to unravel you. Unwilling to wait any longer you pulled your hand away and unclipped Gris' communicator and dropped it to the floorboard where it landed in his discarded hat. Before you reached to unclip yours and letting it settle next to Gris' hat. He smirked a little before reaching out to stroke your hair while you busied yourself getting his shirt off.
"Eager are we," he laughed and you glared causing him to chuckle again.
"Shut up and get your shirt off it offends me," you retorted tugging at the material.
"As the lady wishes," Gris replied helping you with the zipper that kept getting caught and shedding his uniform. It joined the communicators.
You pulled Gris down, your noses about to touch, "I am no longer offended."
Gris snorted before stroking your cheek, "Glad that I can be of some service. Allow me to be of even more service."
Resting your arms on his bare shoulders, Gris didn't waste time with more words as he captured your lips with his. You gasped nails digging into the muscles that bunched under your fingertips. His knees buckled almost tossing him on top of your form. He could have crushed you but you didn't care at this moment. There was only you and him and the backseat cushions keeping you from melting into the floorboards. He pried your lips apart, deepening the kiss and making your toes curl in your boots that you had haphazardly put on before coming outside with Gris. Gris' moans muffled as your taste exploded on his tastebuds. You tasted of chocolate and the finest confections he had ever partaken of. He knew you had a secret chocolate stash in your room. You must of had some before crawling into bed with your favorite book. He was pulled from his thoughts when he felt your fingers tangle into his blond locks and you tugged gently. He almost toppled over again but he refused to go down and he unleashed himself a little more, his movements quick and precise. You nipped at his lips and he pulled away at your mischievous streak. You tried following him a displeased whine leaving your throat but his weight kept you from being able to move too much.
"Naughty," he cooed tapping your nose with his finger.
You nipped again catching the glove in your teeth and pulling it from his hand. You traced the scars littering the skin of his palm before entwining your fingers with his. Gris sucked in a breath as your hips bucked unseating him and you took advantage of the moment backing him up until his back hit the back door glass. Straddling him, you wasted no time kissing him again. His warm arms wrapped around you, holding onto you tightly though you pulled away from his mouth. Gris followed you this time but he found himself pressing his lips to your jaw and following the contours of your throat before stopping at your collarbone. He nibbled at the skin causing you to shiver, before his tongue darted out licking a stripe against the bone. You yelped in surprise and jumped causing him to chuckle.
"I love you," he breathed nose brushing against the column of your throat before he found your mouth again. Littering your swollen lips with small tender kisses.
"I love you too," you stroked his cheek, your thumb focusing back on his scar and plush mouth. "I'm thinking really hard about that transfer now."
Gris laughed refusing you to let him off his lap while he brushed the hair that fell in your face back behind your ear. "I'll talk to Enjin."
"I'm sure he already suspects something," you rested your head on Gris' chest and just let yourself be more than content in his arms.
"He knows," Gris replied before he sucked in a breath as you traced circles on his bare chest.
"Good," you continued with your tracing, "that means everyone knows you're mine."
Gris set his hand over yours, stilling your movements before bringing your hand to his face. He nipped your pointer finger back before placing your palm against his scruffy cheek. The beginning of a beard tickling the palm of your hand.
"And you are mine," he said with conviction.
"Now if I'm not going to be getting any sleep tonight before my mission in the morning I want more kissing and less talking," you smirked while scooching closer across Gris' lap making him groan.
His head hit the back glass with a thud, you were going to drive him insane and he wouldn't have it any other way. Holding you tighter against him he was prepared to give you everything you wanted and more.
"Your wish is my command," Gris replied before he lost himself in you again.
The Cleaners had been everything he could have ever wanted. He got to make a difference in people's lives and kept towns safe from trash beasts. But the most rewarding part of the job was that he got to meet you. Despite the danger looming ahead as missions needed finished, you both spent the night together dreaming about what life could hold for you both together. The Cleaners were family but Gris was yours and in turn you were his and you both would wouldn't change that for anything in the messed up world you both lived in.

Johnny seemed antsy more than usual at the dinner table. Fiddling with the silverware had Ben watching him with a raised brow and Sue glaring at him knowing he was acting really suspicious. Johnny just ignored the stares as H.E.R.B.I.E set several dishes on the table. Once H.E.R.B.I.E finished everyone started reaching for the different dishes, except for Johnny. Sitting his silverware back down he scooted back his chair.
"I'm not hungry," he finally said causing everyone to jolt and stare at the jokester of the bunch. The stares they were giving made him even more jittery.
"Since when," Ben asked staring straight through his flame powered friend.
"Since now," Johnny replied backing away from the table.
Reed glanced at Sue who just shook her head. Waving off her brother Johnny quickly escaped before anymore questions could be asked. Rushing back into his room he snatched a handful of snacks out of his stash and launched himself from the balcony into the sky. With buildings passing by in a blur all Johnny could think about was his destination. Though not far from the Fantastic Four tower it felt like forever until he was hovering in front of a window three stories above the ground. With a gentle tap he focused on keeping his flames going on his bottom half and leaving his features normal from his waist up.
You had been waiting for Johnny for about an hour now and when you heard the tap on your glass, your heart couldn't help but leap at the thought of seeing him again. As quietly as you could you raced to the window and raised it, careful not to disturb your parents in the living room. They wouldn't approve of your relationship with Johnny, they thought he was a show boat with no brains but you saw differently. You watched Johnny closely as he moved in closer to your window with an awkward wave.
"Took you long enough," you whispered already sitting in your window.
"You try getting away from my nosey team/family members," he retorted before stroking your cheek. The heat radiating off of him warmed your cheeks as your heart continued to beat. Between the emotions just seeing Johnny Storm and the feeling of sneaking around your parents had your heart thundering. You were positive that your heartbeats were going to get you both caught. Johnny held out his hand, careful to keep his flames at bay so he wouldn't burn you. You took it and slipped further out the window. When he could reach you better he scooped you from your window and off you both flew. The weight of you in his arms and the feeling of your body held firmly against his chest intoxicated the blond haired man. You laughed in glee, skirts whipping in the wind. You always felt free when you flew with Johnny, you knew that millions of jealous girls would give up anything to feel what you felt in these moments with him
"Hungry," Johnny yelled above the wind whipping by as he headed toward a less crowded street.
"Yes! I said I had a stomach ache at dinner so I could eat with you," you answered holding tightly to Johnny's shirt collar.
"Good and I'll have to use that excuse next time," he grinned while he began to lower you both to the ground.
"What did you tell your family?"
Johnny shrugged, "That I wasn't hungry."
"Johnny," you laughed shaking your head.
"What?!"
"You're ALWAYS hungry," you laughed harder still holding onto him tightly despite your feet planted firmly back on the ground. "They definitely didn't believe you."
"I think they did," he shrugged putting his hands in his pockets while he waited for you to adjust your wind blown hair and skirt.
"Handsome and delusional," you cooed tucking the last strand behind your ear. "I think your flames may have fried your brain a little."
"Well since that's how you feel you can buy dinner then," Johnny walked away grinning to himself as you sputtered at his retreating back.
"But Johnny," you whined, " you eat enough for 5 people alone."
"That's the point. You're treating me tonight."
After teasing you relentlessly Johnny lead you to the restaurant that you both had been regulars at ever since you both started dating. The owner always went out of his way to make sure you and Johnny were comfortable and kept you both out of the public eye. He always slipped in an extra treat for you both as well, despite you and Johnny's protests. Johnny ordered his usual before placing your order as well and you slipped in a request for an appetizer since you could hear Johnny's stomach growling when he picked you up. That's one of the things Johnny loved about you most, you always seemed to know what he needed and how he was feeling. He tried to keep his emotions in check and stay the goofy carefree guy he was known as. But now that you had gotten to know him so well you could see right through his armor and you busted through it more times than he could count. He was thankful that he could be himself around you despite what everyone says is his many flaws.
"Still enjoying being Johnny Storm, The Human Torch," you asked fiddling with the straw that floated in your soda.
"It has it's perks," he nodded. "But I don't like that it keeps me from being able to walk freely when I'm with you."
"It's okay," you smiled though you did admit to yourself that it was hard at times. Especially that your parents didn't approve you dating him because of his celebrity hero status. But it wasn't lost on you that before you started dating Johnny, your dating prospects were low to nonexistent. Your parents had chosen a few guys but they didn't make you feel like Johnny does. So if you had any relationship with them it didn't last long. It was rare you went out on second dates.
"I don't think it's okay," Johnny's fist hit the table rattling the cups and making you jump. He quickly apologized for his temper. "I want to be able to show the world and everyone I care about how much you mean to me. This sneaking around I hate it."
"I do too," you agreed. "You mean more to me than anyone I ever met and it's unfair to the both of us."
"Then lets go public," he suggested eyes blazing with excitement.
"I don't know," you balked now playing with your silverware. Johnny could tell how nervous you felt at the suggestion but if there was ever going to be a change you both would have to take this first step. He didn't want to push you, mostly in fear of not wanting to lose you, but he didn't want you to ever feel uncomfortable around him. And if being in the public's eye as the girlfriend of Johnny Storm made you more than a little uncomfortable he wouldn't ask you to give it up your comfort for him.
"It's okay," he nodded. "If you don't want to we won't."
"I don't want you to think I'm ashamed of you."
Your quiet tone stabbed him in the heart, "I wouldn't ever think that."
"I shouldn't have suggested that I'm sorry," you paused to take a deep breath to steady yourself before you said anything else. Just when you were about to speak again food was placed on the table before you and Johnny.
"Enjoy," the waitress said before leaving you both alone. The moment passed and Johnny's stomach rumbled louder breaking the tension. You both laughed and tucked into the food. A comfortable silence passed between you both and not long after the plates were empty and Johnny was polishing off the food you'd given him from your plate. You took one last sip of soda while Johnny placed money on the table for the bill and a little extra for the waitress. He helped you from your chair and walked you out of the building his hand never letting go of yours.
It was getting later so the streets were beginning to quiet down even more but you both weren't ready to call it an evening just yet. It was rare that Johnny got such a quiet night to be with you. Sometimes he had to leave to go take care of Fantastic Four business with his fellow members. So you weren't looking a gift horse in the mouth just yet. Johnny squeezed your hand tighter gaining your attention. You had been too focused on the thoughts whirling around in your head you hadn't heard him speak.
"I'm sorry what was that Johnny," you blushed. Ashamed that you hadn't focused on him and this was supposed to be a night were you both enjoyed the other's company.
"Want to go dancing," he asked again. "Or I could take you home? Are you not feeling well? Did I overwhelm you?"
"No," you waved the thoughts away and his questions. "I don't want to go home and I'm okay. I promise. Of course I want to go dancing with you!"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
Johnny nodded leading you to the dance hall. But it was too crowded, he glanced back at you and you seemed nervous. Not wanting to overwhelm you, he picked you up again and flew you both to the top of the building and setting you down on the flat surface of the roof. Once he knew that you were steady on your feet he dove back down, opening a few windows to let the music float out on the night air before making his way back up.
Your skirt fluttered as you tapped your foot to the beat and when Johnny landed right in front of you, you swallowed at the look in his eyes. Holding out his arms you didn't hesitate to accept his embrace. The tone of the song was slow but it was ending quickly and suddenly the music was fast paced causing you to break apart from Johnny. He knew the moves perfectly so you followed his lead and before too long you were laughing and out of breath. Johnny laughed when you tripped and wound up falling into him. He held you as the music continued to flow through the windows. Both of you breathless and laughing.
"That was fun," you panted finally regaining your feet but Johnny still held on tightly.
"I knew that you fell for me but I didn't think it was that literal," he teased earning a laugh and a teasing smack on his arm. You were about to retort back when the music changed again, back to something slow and beautiful. Without another word Johnny held you against him and started moving the both of you slowly to the beat. His hand held your right hand tight and his left snaked around your waist making sure you were close. A paper couldn't slip through where your chests met and you gazed up taking aback by how Johnny stared at you. He hummed along gently as you both moved gracefully before he lifted you both up from the ground. Moving you in a circle in the sky you held on tightly making him chuckle. His finger slipped underneath your chin causing you to glance back up at him. He didn't want you to run from the longing in his eyes or the way he was feeling. His body heated up and it wasn't his powers. Your bright eyes didn't glance away this time. You held his gaze slowly reaching up to touch his cheek because you knew he wouldn't let you fall.
"I love you," he breathed lifting you up closer to his level. You swallowed, tears of emotion pricking at your eyes.
"I love you too Johnny," you replied. "And I'm okay with you announcing our relationship publicly."
"Are you sure," Johnny asked nervously. He felt like his suggestion had pushed you to please him.
"I don't want to hide anymore. I love you too much and it's not fair to you. I'll have to get used to the spotlight but if you'll help me I can deal with it."
"I won't ever leave your side," he promised before he leaned in closer.
He didn't waste anymore time or words as he closed the distance taking your lips. You were warm and soft and perfect. He groaned loudly clinging to you tighter as he immediately deepened the kiss. You whimpered but dug your fingers into his hair. Normally he would complain but you could do whatever you wanted in this moment, even play with his hair. Your hands moved downward until they latched onto his collar trying to tug him closer as your mouth moved with his. Johnny sighed losing control of keeping you both afloat so he slowly set you both down. Your legs couldn't hold you so as soon as your feet felt the touch of the building's roof you sunk down taking Johnny down with you. He went willingly pulling you into his lap so you wouldn't get dirty as he took a seat. You pulled away for just a moment to grab a gasp of air before Johnny tugged you back in holding the back of your head and fingers tangling in your hair to keep you in place. He nipped and tasted not letting a second go to waste between you both. He was a thirsty man and it was never enough until finally he had to let you go. Your chests heaved, trying to pull in enough air but it was never enough. Johnny licked his kiss bruised lips still tasting you lingering there. You smoothed down your hair before doing the same to his. Your attentions had the strands sticking straight up and you couldn't help but laugh.
"Sorry I messed your hair up," you giggled smoothing down the last piece. It wasn't perfect but better than before.
"Kiss me like that again and you can rip my hair out sweetheart," he purred causing you to blush bright red.
"Can we do that again," you leaned in closer to whisper into Johnny's ear.
It only made him lean in and whisper right back, his heated breath brushing against your cheek, "Which one?"
You held onto his shoulders tightly leaning back so you could take in his full face as you grinned slyly. "Both."
Johnny laughed picking you both up and enjoying dancing the night away with you under the stars.
He returned you home hours later, one last kiss placed on his cheek before he flew off back home. The tower was dark and all the lights were off. It seemed like he had gotten away with his little excursion. Opening the glass door to his room from the outside he landed inside pulling his shirt off. He could spy a lipstick stain on the pristine white collar and the whole shirt was a little rumpled but it smelled like you still. He held it up breathing deeply and replayed the night over in his mind when a lamp flipped on suddenly.
"Hey," Sue greeted appearing on Johnny's bed, "how did the date go?"
"Sue," Johnny yelped dropping his shirt on the floor. "You know I hate it when you do that!"
She laughed standing up and walking towards her brother and expectant look that said she wanted him to spill his guts quickly.
"There was no date. I have no idea what you're talking about," he scoffed picking up his discarded shirt and tossing it in the clothes hamper in his room.
"Please Johnny," Sue rolled her eyes. "Not hungry? You? You were a bottomless pit when we were kids. Mom and Dad couldn't get you full and now you're even worse with your powers burning all the energy you get. So is she pretty?"
Johnny sighed, knowing he was defeated, "She's gorgeous. Everything I could ever hope and dream for."
Johnny couldn't help but pace until Sue grabbed onto his arm and lead him towards the chairs in the middle of his room. She forced him to sit where Johnny could only fiddle with his fingers and steal glances at his sister.
"How long have you known," he asked.
"I've had my suspicions for awhile now. But I'm happy for you both," Sue smiled. "Have you thought about going public it would take some of the bachelor pressure off of you from the media?"
"We're going to next week. We talked about it this evening and her parents are going to be furious or honestly I would have asked her sooner."
"Her parents disapprove?" Sue seemed worried for her brother and for good reasons. Johnny just shrugged.
"Yeah. They don't like my attitude I guess."
"They'll get to know you better. You'll grow on them like a benign lump," she teased.
"Ha ha very funny Sue," Johnny glared before sinking down further into the chair. "I'm worried this will run her off."
"If you haven't run her off yet I don't think she's that easy to get rid of," Sue replied getting up from her seat. "Just be good to her Johnny in our line of work it's hard to find a good one."
"You found Reed," Johnny argued also standing up from his chair.
"I found Reed before all this so I was very lucky but I believe in you. I'll always be here for you and her. So go get her and let the world know she's yours."
Johnny scooped his sister into a hug squeezing her tightly before sitting her back down, "Thanks Sue."
"Get some rest Johnny you're going to need it," she patted his back once more before leaving his room.
Johnny waited until he could hear her footsteps leading away before falling back into his bed and looking up at the ceiling. Innumerable possibilities swirled in his brain but you were the only clear answer. He could still feel the tender touch of your lips against his as he brushed a finger across his lips. He grinned remembering the feel of your arms holding onto him tightly as you both danced the stars glittering above your heads and the laugh that had escaped when he'd joked around. He clenched his fist ready to fight for the future he wanted with you. Nothing would stand in his way, he would burn everything that opposed you both to the ground as long as it meant that you got to stand by his side for the rest of your lives. One last glance out the window in the direction to your house he vowed to protect you and make you the happiest woman in the universe no matter what.
