Snake Eyes Origin
Does this mean they’re rebooting the GI JOE Cinematic Universe? I hope so.
HASBRO Animated Universe of GI JOE and Transformers were a hit in the 80s and 90s. It’s legacy continued in the comic pages since then till today.
While Transformers shot to fame thanks to Michael Bay’s live action series on the big screen, GI JOE did not received the same reception in the cinema.
If you’ve never heard of GI JOE, it’s basically a story about a counter terrorist special ops team of GI JOE formed to fight the terrorist organization, COBRA.
There’s already two live action GI JOE films, GI JOE Rise of Cobra and GI JOE Retaliation.
The thing I don’t like about Rise of Cobra is the design of Cobra Commander which looked nothing like in the original. But managed to rectify it in the sequel. Kind of like what Bumblee movie did to the Transformers franchise.

The problem I have with the sequel Retaliation is the killing of it’s main character, Duke, played by Channing Tatum at the start of the movie to make way for the team’s new leader, Roadblock, played by Dwayne Johnson.

Elodie Yung who acted as Elektra in Netflix’s Daredevil series.

Ray Stevenson who acted as Frank Castle in The Punisher War Zone and Volstagg in Thor.
The list goes on as there are too many characters too mention. But you get the idea that the GI JOE Universe is worth exploring in the same manner as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. COBRA is as lethal, silent and deadly as HYDRA. GI JOE is basically the AVENGERS of the HASBRO Universe.
In the comic reboot series of GI JOE Reload, COBRA is portrayed as a misguided patriotic organization who wants to save the American people from from tyranny and oppression by the current government administration, believing the system to be corrupt, so they try to take control from within.
GI JOE live action deserves a reboot and better writing. But right now, I’m happy enough if they could at least give us a Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes movie. They’re as iconic as Scorpion and Sub Zero of the Mortal Kombat Universe.
