I’ve been noticing this trend with Marvel for the past 10 years where people demand a new diverse character and marvel makes one. Then that character has it’s run and is forgotten about and people demand a new one and the cycle continues. It gets to a point where Marvel has this whole backlog of C and D list diverse characters they don’t use and people demand diversity still. Like they can just use some of the older characters they haven’t used in a while give them to good writers to do something interesting with them. Instead they just keep on doing this endless manufacturing of diverse characters to replace the popular A list characters. It just seems like a waste tbh. I think the same could be said of DC since they too have huge backlog of C and D list characters but I’ve primarily noticed this with marvel in how they handle their new legacy replacement characters.
