“I think there should be a regulation forbidding junior gymnasts to do skills E or higher rated in competition. And if they do so penalizing them. That would maybe help gymnasts not burning out so early and also help gymnasts to focus on execution.”

“What if D scores were capped in quals to ensure everyone has good technique and then the finalists can bring out their higher D for the finals.”
Did Shawn Johnson have 5 passes on floor and include them all in her d score? Why doesnt someone like Simone do this as well?
In the 2008 quad, gymnasts were allowed to do 5 passes on floor (most of the gymnasts in the 2008 floor final did this) and the top 10 instead of top 8 elements were counted for the D score. Now, this is not allowed anymore; the maximum number of floor passes allowed in the current code (and has been since 2009-2012 code) is 4 and the top 8 elements are counted. This is why Simone doesn’t do 5 passes.
Okay, I didn’t pay attention to the last elements and just threw out 3 C’s the last time. I think this is it.
