The Monk's Mistake
So me and my friends have 3 (soon to be 4) tabletop RPGs we play. One of them is D&D 3.5 edition. During one session while leveling up I decided to put points into jump. Well we were in a cave that held a city of Goblins which are natural enemies to my dwarf monk. We got into combat our sorcerer shot down their post with a fire ball... one survived so I jumped towards it, rolled a nat 20 then decided to attack rolled a nat 1. So how the dm described it...I jumped majestically through the air, over the goblin and my head got stuck in the wall of the cave... luckily I was too high up for the goblin to reach but I spent 3 turns of combat trying to get out. Once I was I thought, 'Theres no way I will roll the same way twice'... ya I did the same God damn thing.
Possibly my favorite Closet Gamers comic, but also the one that aches the most to think about.
The premise is that the D&D group takes some time to set up some high-level characters, each with his own magic item. Once they finally sit down to play… Well, I won’t spoil the rest of it!
