While the fighter had of course dated her fair share of guys over the years (and one woman) she had never really been the relationship type. Committing to one person was something that she knew she herself could do but not something she could easily trust another with. She would never feel good enough for anybody thanks to the shattered confidence and self esteem with the bullying in her youth. She was an insecure woman and someone who would always think it was just a matter of time until someone grew bored of her but something about Penguin made her feel differently. Nobody had ever showed her the type of attention that he did and nobody ever looked at her like he.

“You already make me feel good.” She replied softly to the males words while her hand came to gently rest atop of one of his own. The woman was used to a racing heart thanks to the adrenaline rush in the ring but this wasn’t the same. This was a racing of heart with what felt like the flutter of a hundred butterflies in her stomach. “But you would make me feel even better if you finally gave me a kiss.” The second the words were out of her lips the woman’s cheeks were aflame with a shy heat as a blush spread over them for she was never usually so forward with her words but god... God, she really just wanted one kiss to know if everything she was feeling was real.

“Are you sure you sent this to the right person?” She wasn’t someone who brushed off compliments to appear modest or to hear even more in their place but because she genuinely believed that she didn’t deserve any. By now she knew that her body had changed and she was healthier than she used to have been but she still lacked self esteem. “I think the name of the woman you are speaking about is Hyojoo.”

Sungmin turned to Penguin in actual disbelief that he had just said what he did. Was that jealousy that she was hearing in his voice? She should have expected it though since he hadn’t exactly been subtle since they had met over his thoughts about her but still the tone of his voice had her frowning. 

“He’s a colleague, Penguin.” She sighed out. Daehee was someone she worked with but not someone she would even class as a friend. He was an acquaintance who had dropped by to discuss some work related things but she hadn’t thought the few minutes he was there would bring out the reaction it had from the older man. “Can’t you just give me a couple more minutes until he finished telling me about my next opponent or would you rather I get destroyed in the ring?”

♥ Be gentle: I don’t mean in the physical sense of be super gentle like she’s a breakable doll but she does have a very fragile heart and ego. It is hard for her to open herself up to people and so if she manages to open up to you then don’t abuse that. Understand when she’s quiet, understand when she seems vulnerable and don’t speak harshly or judge her for it.

♥ Don’t be shallow: She is so tired of having people show interest in her purely because of her looks and to win her heart somebody would have to see beyond this. She would fall for someone who fell for her personality, heart and mind over her face and body. She likes someone with depth, someone she can talk to about the world and not somebody who just wants to shower her off like a trophy.

Sungmin and Hyojoo. How would you describe your relationship?

Sungmin

“I think out of everyone I work with she’s probably the person I’m closest to.” The fighter answered honestly. Part of her was envious sometimes but she never let it become an issue. She knew it was her own self esteem that had her wishing she was as pretty or as popular but Hyojoo was a nice woman and one of the very few that she actually considered a good friend. “I enjoy her company.”

Hyojoo 

“I love Sungmin! I have to be honest she’s tough as hell to crack but when I first got signed up she tried to help take care of me. She didn’t smile much or want to go be bff’s painting nails and everything but she made sure I knew how to protect myself. She ended up taking care of me like a little sister and well, now she actually is my bbf even if she doesn’t want to believe it.”

“She reminds me of all my faults and how I will never really be good enough for anything.” The woman admitted with a soft sigh. “I have never been much good at anything apart from fighting and I feel like she has taken that away from me. I’ve felt useless all of my life and the only thing I ever found where I am good and where I am like is all of a sudden ruled by this woman I just can’t beat and her attitude really grates me. She doesn’t talk to anybody and honestly it just feels like she’s walking around thinking she rules the roost and she’s above us all. Thanks to her I can hear what people have started saying about me. They think I’m losing my touch and getting too old to continue doing this so I don’t know... Because she’s threatening a lot in my life too I guess.”
