Introducing Demi-humans.

They are the result of advanced genetic engineering, born from humanity's pursuit to reshape life for survival, adaptation, and self-expression. Created as sapient beings with human intelligence and altered physiology. Ranging from animal-inspired forms to broadly humanoid, almost alien designs, they challenged ethical boundaries and redefined what it meant to be human even before the apocalypse.

Though once comprising nearly a third of the population, many demi-human species were lost to extinction in the apocalypse, while others were further altered or newly created by the Progenitors in experimental bids for survival.

Demi-humans developed rich cultures, integrated into emerging societies, and helped shape the post-apocalypse world. As of 900 ADF, sixteen surviving demi-human species remain, forming a vital and enduring part of a humanity. These are the 8 total broadly humanoid, alien based Demi-humans.

Shussar’s Army — large aircraft personnel uniforms and ranks.

In a world where nations create airships the size of naval vessels, military structures begin to blur the line between airforce and navy. In Dòrok, the airships themselves are classified with naval terminology, and so are the crews that operate them.

Designing these uniforms became a fascinating exercise in worldbuilding because it forced me to think beyond modern Western military structure. Dòrok is not America. It is not a global superpower, nor a nation built around military dominance. Its armed forces developed through a completely different cultural lens, with different priorities, traditions, and ideas of hierarchy.

That especially shaped the uniforms. While many real-world Central Asian and Eurasian militaries that Dòrok draws its inspiration from eventually adopted Western standards (I.e peaked caps, epaulets, standardized insignias) Dòrok retained its own visual identity. Rank is represented through sashes rather than epaulets, creating a system that feels both functional and culturally distinct.

Hats also play an important role in Dòrok’s culture, so different military roles are identified through unique headwear. The Gunner’s hat, for example, draws inspiration from the nation’s archers of old. Even in an era of futuristic weaponry and massive aerial warships, traces of older traditions still remain woven into the uniform itself.

Part 1: showcasing Dòrok's scientific institutions: The Institute Dòrok of Biosciences

Science occupies a unique place within Dòrok society, extending far beyond research laboratories and universities. Scientific organizations hold seats within the government itself, granting them direct political influence and a central role in shaping national policy. Alongside the medical sciences, the Institute of Dòrok Biosciences receives some of the highest levels of funding and government support in Dòrok, reflecting the nation's belief that scientific advancement is the foundation of its prosperity, innovation, and future.

The Institute of Dòrok Biosciences' jurisdiction encompasses a wide range of disciplines including, but not limited to: ecology, microbiology, biotechnology, genetics, and evolutionary science. The institute's biotechnology division is particularly renowned, responsible for pioneering the creation of biomechanics and fostering the creation of organisms such as the Dowámna.

The institute is so expansive that it maintains its own independent combat and explorers divisions known as the Shilbasuk. Meaning 'Shadow Hands' in Dòrok language, they're composed of highly trained scientific personnel.

Rather than serving as conventional soldiers, these specialists are deployed to study dangerous ecosystems, contain biological threats, recover rare specimens, and test experimental technologies in the field. Their creation marked the world's first formal military-scientific corps, blurring the line between researcher and combatant.

The Lurid Grasslands are where contamination begins, and where it nearly ends.

These level 2 ecosystems sit at the threshold, the first step into mutation, or the last before purification. Here, AAM presence is low, the atmosphere lighter, the toxicity no longer suffocating but still unmistakably present.

Vast fields stretch outward in impossible color, sky blues, corrosive yellows, iridescent greens, a landscape that feels less like ruin and more like something rewritten.

A quickerAnja in her traditional ethnic attire of Festællan. She hails from one of six kingdoms in Festællan, this particular kingdom is loosely inspired by the Scottish highlands with a hint of Germanic and Estonian influence.

Azlanaë — Anja’s plane

Pronounced Oz-lon-uh, Azlanaë means “Redwing” in Anja’s native language, Festællish. She stole this plane in her youth, chasing one dream: to leave Festællan behind and live on her own terms. Over the years, she rebuilt and modified Azlanaë into more than a machine, it became a symbol of her independence and a testament to her engineering skill. Azlanaë carried her through her days of piracy with The Thunderwings, and later into her life as a mercenary and eventual military commander.

Anja loves her plane more than her own life, because Azlanaë isn’t just how she travels. It’s how she became free.

The Dòrok Sky Mammoth — the largest military vessel in this world.

Comparable in size to an aircraft carrier and staffed by nearly 3,000 personnel, yet it serves an entirely different purpose. Dòrok’s engineering philosophy has never been military-first; their machines are designed as engineering marvels before they are efficient weapons of war.

As the only nation to fully standardize propulsion-based hover technology across its aircraft, Dòrok has pushed airborne engineering far beyond any rival. The Sky Mammoth stands as the pinnacle of that ambition: a battleship-class aircraft built for overwhelming ground assault, carrying enough artillery to level entire cities alone.

But power comes at a cost. These colossal vessels are painfully slow, vulnerable to aerial attack, and dependent on massive escort formations for protection. Each one requires nearly 30 years to construct, and only 12 exist in total.

Because of this, the Sky Mammoth is rarely deployed. For all its terrifying firepower, it is often considered less a practical war machine and more of a liability hovering above the battlefield.
