Sherlock (TV series) - Sholto and Dimmock as a foil for John and Sherlock
INTRODUCTION The idea of Sholto living forever alone in a hut somewhere, while the person he loves (hypothetically John) shares their life with someone else, it’s heart-breaking to me. So I started to think who he could eventually end up with. Here’s one possible answer. IT COULD BE D.I. DIMMOCK You might remember him as the Detective Inspector from The Blind Banker. But why could they be a nice couple? Because they would be a foil for John and Sherlock.
PARALLELS WITH JOHN AND SHERLOCK Sholto is a fair haired retired soldier and dresses like this:
(Are those red pants in the lower right corner?) He’s name is James, like the name Doyle once mistakenly called John with. Like John, he’s depressed and goes around with a gun; he’s probably suicidal and may be planning to use it on himself. Dimmock is a dark haired detective and dresses like this:
Like Sherlock, when he’s first introduced he is perceived as a bit of a jerk, but it later turns out he’s a nice (and probably clever) guy. He’s also pretty young for his position, as Sherlock mistakes him for a sergeant.
THE NAMES Sholto and Dimmock sounds a bit like John and Sherlock. Also, the name of the ship would be Sholock. You pronounce it almost like the name of the show. THE CREATOR Dimmock’s character was created by Stephen Thompson. Sholto’s character was adapted, possibly by Thompson, from a character in ACD canon. HOW THEY COULD HAVE ALREADY MET After Lestrade arrested the photographer, he stayed at the wedding.
The case of the attempted murder might so have been assigned to D.I. Dimmock, who could have then met Major Sholto for questioning purposes.
HOW WE MIGHT SEE THEM AGAIN Dating somewhere, as Sherlock and John are dining out (if Sholto ever starts to go out again). It could make for some comical dialogue, if they are dressed very similar to John and Sherlock and say they are on a date.
omg, my mum was watching this series and i started to watch it with her and the guy who plays D.I. Dimmock is playing this psycho (possibly the killer) man with split personalities. it's awesome!
