First chapter of Your fear is my obsession is now up!

Summary: Greg is a teenager with a difficult childhood. He has no mother, only a father who doesn't care about him and his little sister, whom the young man looks after, and a cruel stepmother, whom he dreams of getting rid of so that everything would be as it was before. This possibility begins to seem real when he learns about his rich uncle, who invites his family and friends to stay at his place.

I started writing this work a year ago. It was completely my friend's @localgatiss idea, I just added some point to make it work. As I started it, it seemed impossible to finish it, so I just didn't. I wrote about 11k words and I was halfway done, but now, as reading it, I knew I had to rewrite it properly, so now the first chapter is almost as long as the first variation of a half story.

D.I Dimmock had a thing for Sherlock CHANGE MY MIND

why do you like dimmock? just interested

I guess because he’s basically a decent person.  He’s very skeptical of Sherlock when he first turns up at the crime scene, as well he should be -- even with Lestrade’s recommendation, Sherlock comes across as a nut and a bully.  But once Sherlock has been shown to be right, Dimmock almost immediately sets aside any pride or ego to work with Sherlock in any way he can.  Not only does he provide them with all the books from van Coon and Lukis’s flats (with no explanation of why Sherlock wants them), he come in and asks, with all humility, if there’s anything he personally can do to help them.

Dimmock walks in and holds up an evidence bag to Sherlock.)DIMMOCK: We found these, at the museum.(He shows the bag to John. It contains the photographs of the cipher which Sherlock had been showing to Soo Lin.)DIMMOCK: Is this your writing?JOHN (taking the bag): Uh, we hoped Soo Lin could decipher it for us. Ta.(Dimmock nods and turns back to Sherlock, who is still unloading his crate.)DIMMOCK: Anything else I can do? To assist you, I mean?SHERLOCK (without looking up): Some silence right now would be marvellous.(x)

Sherlock, typically, blows him off completely, and John is only slightly more gracious.  But it’s their loss, because in fact, Dimmock has just noticed that Soo Lin has translated the cipher for them.  He doesn’t have enough context to know what it means or why it matters, but he has the crucial clue right in his hands, and he *tries* to show it to them.  But Sherlock doesn’t pay attention until Sarah points it out again, many scenes later.

Also, I just like the way the actor handles the character -- I find him believable as a young, fresh-faced up-and-comer, ambitious and straining to prove himself, but also willing to acknowledge when he’s in the presence of a greater talent.  I was happy to see him return (albeit briefly) in S4.

Sherlock is a wizard au.

I actually have a fanfic series (crossed over with Arthurian mythology) where Sherlock is a wizard descended from Merlin himself (and later it turns out Molly is descended from Morgan le Fey and gets powers of her own, and the mythology you think you know is not exactly as it appears) called “Unexpected Legacies” that I’m currently in the middle of writing the ninth story for (I’m considering adding it to my list for WIP Big Bang but...not sure). So I’m going to go ahead and give headcanons for that series, if that’s okay? Just because it’s already in my head.

Sherlock is definitely a wizard who can excel at book learning, but is much better at coming up with spells on the fly, using his extensive store of knowledge and grasp of languages to be able to come up with something unique for any situation, as he has already shown in the series (Molly, by contrast, will go on to show she has a near encyclopedic knowledge of any spell she reads and can pull it up exactly as if she’s looking at the page it’s on in the exact book).

Sherlock’s skill at chemistry makes him good at crafting potions, but only so long as he follows the directions in the book. He isn’t as good when going off book, though he begins to improve when he starts to study more of the magical properties of the ingredients he uses. Infusing them with magic is something he is very good at.

While Mycroft does not have magical powers or sense magic in any way, their sibling does, and he may or may become a part of Sherlock’s life after a long absence when Sherlock’s life hangs on the line...and his master is someone that Merlin was never sure he wanted to see again (note that I started writing this before series 4 aired so I went with the popular theory he had a brother).

The main villain is definitely connected to Merlin’s past. They have reason to fear not only Sherlock but a union between Sherlock and Molly and any children they may bear.

Eventually Lestrade, Sally and Dimmock will end up being the only people who will work with Sherlock after one case gets too weird for most of the Yard because they remember what happened at the Halloween Party and how Sherlock saved them all. One of them, however, is going to get seriously injured and Sherlock is going to reconsider taking cases where “normal” cases intersect with the weird ones and he has to involve the Yard because he doesn’t want any more of his friends getting hurt. This also includes his partnership with John. His friends have a surprising reaction, though.
