Victor nickname headcanons

I don't think any of these are outlandish or surprising but:

Cashmere -> Cash, or 'C' (only by Gloss, especially during sad moments)

Gloss -> G (only family), or Glossy if someone wants to set him off (Victors rarely do, this is a Capitolite thing, sadly)

Finnick -> Finn, Fake-Nick (Johanna only, it's an inside joke)

Johanna -> Jo (friends only, she's adamant anyone else has to call her her whole name), Joke-anna (Finnick only, an inside joke)

Enobaria -> En, Baria (Brutus and D2 only), Teefs (Johanna, once)

Rhubae -> Rhu, Rhubes (she doesn't like it but won't say that), Rude (also Johanna, only rarely)

Brutus -> Bru (Enobaria and other D2), Bruty (Rhubae, demeaning)

Augustus -> Gus, he's a simple man

Penthesilia -> Penny (Cashmere used to refuse to use the nickname since Caesar created it during her first interviews and she interpreted it as disrespect; Penny prefers her name shortened bc she fucking hates her parents), Pen

Cecilia -> CeCe, Ceec, Cillia, C (only among older Victors, especially if Cashmere is around)

Haymitch -> Hay, Mitch, Asshole (Johanna)

Time travel

"So."

Lodi turned to face Sunny, obviously surprised by the word. "Did you have a question?"

"Yes. When and where did you come from?"

Lodi watched Sunny nervously, face moving in microscopic twitches as he tried to come up with acceptable answers.

"Well, I suppose I can't give away any government secrets if the government in question has been, uh... Defunct for millenia. I'm from the United States of America, in the, uh. Twentieth century."

"Ooh," said Sunny. "I might have a twentieth century map of the globe, can you point at it for me if I show you a projection?"

Lodi almost hid the flinch. It was a few months ago and two thousand years ago. Fortunately, now that he had this view of time, that didn't feel as bad as it used to.

He still missed it though.

The Ghost projected a globe and Lodi picked it out instantly.

"It was about a third of the top chunk," he said, drawing on the continent with his finger.

"What kind of technological development was going on? I remember you got very excited when you found out about First Contact, and that was a long time ago."

She zoomed in on the landmass and compared it to itself over the eras, putting continental maps next to one another. She missed chunks, the records she could find were always limited. Some extra pieces came and went in the political maps. The geographical showed the period of ecological damage around that time window.

Lodi seemed distressed by that, too, staring hard at the flooded brown. "Miss Sunny, what's all this? When did that happen?"

"That will be just outside of your lifetime, I think. Humanity figured it out. The Traveler helped."

She had a good record of the geographical/ecological globe between the twenty third and twenty seventh centuries, having found them in the flight records of an airport. The regreening of the planet didn't take long.

He breathed a sigh of relief. "You know, it's funny. I even know how the story ends--that it ended--and I'm still nervous about it."

"You still haven't told me about the tech. What was data storage like?"

"Mostly books?"

"Paper?"

"Oh boy."
