i'm not sure the writers knew/know what they have with buck because everyone who i talk to about this new episode agrees that it was wack all except for the scenes with buck. daniel telling bb he doesn't know if he can protect her anymore and she's not taking him seriously until he holds up his phone to show that buck is calling?? CHILLS BROTHER THAT SHIT ROCKED! but they refuse to let matt snap and kill the guy who killed his best friend for.... what? he's not an attorney no more and doesn't trust the system no more, so it's just the catholic guilt and what else? but sure ok. bless buck cashman for whenever he comes on my screen
all of that buildup in the trailers for jessica jones to have all of five (5) minutes of screen time that ultimately led to nothing, and i couldn’t give a single FUCK about the therapist being here at all. what the hell is she even doing here? the only good scenes are the ones with buck because even though daniel and bb had some good moments, they’re stuck in staten island and are therefore irrelevant (i assume).
Daredevil
Okay so I gotta totally squee about that moment in S2E10 with Kastle for a moment. I totally LOVED the camera angle when he was protecting her! OMG! I loved how his tone softened and I want to fantasize that it wasn’t all totally because that’s how you talk to a person who has you at gunpoint. I loved the camera angle. If he’s been over her, it still would have been protective but there was something equalizing between them in showing it like that. He was absolutely protecting her. But with the angle? It was also about the fact that they were in that position together. He wasn’t just the hero. She wasn’t just being rescued. She wasn’t passive in it, there was something in their body language and the way he kept looking at her with genuine concern that said, in my opinion “they’re in this together” because frankly (no pun intended) they have been. She’s believed in him this entire time and while she still can think logically (genuinely considering that she was projecting...which I suddenly find problematic and here is why: while yes, go ahead and question yourself if prompted by yourself or another of (credible) viewpoint BUT; that was what her GUT, her INTUITION had been telling her what was what and SHE WAS RIGHT. And then, an older and “more experienced” male character comes along and despite having not seen them interact, despite not having spent time with Frank, despite not having done the intensive research Karen has, thinks he knows more about what she’s up to and who Frank is than she does. Could she have been projecting? Sure. But we all know she’s absolutely right. So yeah.) I’m not going to finish that sentence because I already addressed its in in the above parenthesis.
Watching Daredevil
So...I saw “Daredevil” as “Da Red Evil” and now I can’t stop seeing it that way hehe. I’m on S2 now and am as upset that Matt and Karen are dating as Foggy is. I was really shipping Foggy and Karen there and then it all went “here lets push the narrative and chemistry into these two” and I’m all kindof “fuuuuck” but now? They haven’t interacted that I’ve seen (missed a good deal of the first Castle arc bc of family) but I’m already shipping the HELL out of Karen X Castle.
And WOW Elektra is SO screwed up. I had high hopes for her character, given the Daredevil film where I sort of fell in love with her. Buuut she just seems like a bored sociopathically-inclined obsessed dilettante would-be serial-killer.
Is she like this in the comics or has she been done a disservice? Also, it might be my bias as I’m writing “The Landlord’s Daughter” but does “I’ve always known you” mean what I think she’s trying to tell him?
Which is better; Dared Evil, or Da Red Evil?
